Elizabeth has been tutoring our son for a while now and his improvement at school has been incredible. He has enjoyed spending time there and felt comfortable straight away. His maths scores astounded everyone just before moving up to high school. We would highly recommend Elizabeth.

Absolutely fantastic. My eldest son was tutored by Elizabeth with the primary aim of passing the North Halifax Grammar School and Ermysted's Grammar School 11+ exams. Secondary goals were to improve confidence and to enhance his ability in Maths & English. He passed both exams this September and is absolutely flying at school. Since he began at ETC, I have noticed that his written work has improved massively. He is also working well ahead of his year group in Maths and his general confidence (and, therefore, happiness) has increased. I decided that group sessions would work best for him, so he attended with a handful of other students. I never thought I would see the day where he looked forward to sessions to undertake extra work! Despite having passed the exams, my son continues to attend ETC, as I feel that the sessions provide excellent value for money. The work is tailored to my son's needs and Elizabeth makes sure that she works in sync with his school, so the work is relevant and supplements what he's already doing there. My son will go to Ermysted's in September, along with a few other boys who he attended ETC at the same time. It's reassuring to know that he will already have friends at his new school. I couldn't be happier with ETC. Elizabeth is friendly, encouraging and genuinely cares that your children enjoy themselves and succeed.

My 8 year old son was finding maths difficult, and because of this he started avoiding doing difficult work at school, distracting the other kids in the class and being sent out of class a lot. I was very frustrated as he wasn't getting any extra help at school and tried all sorts of strategy's (and bribes) to get him to behave. I knew that maths is his most difficult subject, and to be honest I'm not great at maths either so found it hard to help him. So I decided to pay for some additional tuition and contacted Elizabeth for help. My son is a very anxious boy, and Elizabeth put him at ease straight away. I think because she holds lessons at her home he found this a lot less intimidating than going to a more formal setting. He has settled really well with Elizabeth, and loves going for his weekly maths lesson. In fact last week he asked me if he could go for maths lessons twice a week (I nearly fell off my chair with surprise as he always used to hate maths!). After just a few weeks of tuition with Elizabeth my son stopped acting up at school too, which was a huge relief for me. If you have a child that is not confident with maths I would really recommend Elizabeth for some extra support.

When our son wanted to have a go at the 11+ test, we didn’t know where to begin. We were given 3 different names of local tutors. Elizabeth was the one we chose and I’m so glad we did. Thanks to the quality and style of Elizabeth’s teaching, our son enjoyed the sessions and was keen to go every time. The sessions were tailored to his needs and offered the right level of challenge to ensure he made good progress towards the test. Elizabeth manages to strike the perfect balance of high expectations with a kind approach. Whilst the aim was only ever to help him to sit the 11+ exam, we have seen other unexpected benefits. Our son has grown in confidence overall, not just academically. The quality of his work in school has further improved, and friendships have blossomed with tutoring buddies.
