My family had the best day at The Royal Oak on Saturday. It was my daughter’s birthday so we had the bottomless brunch. We had our own waitress who was attentive and friendly. She kept an eye on our drinks and as we were finishing she bought along another refill without us having to ask. The food was good, as always. Would highly recommend the bottomless brunch for a special occasion or just for a good day. We sat in the lovely garden which is also wheelchair friendly. The children played on the bouncy castle and ate pizza that was also delicious. Can’t wait to do it all again.

Friendly welcome, quick, attentive service, fab pub grub and dog friendly. A quiet Tues eve (good value with free desert or starter) so not busy with diners but still a good number of locals having a pint. Eat in the bar if you have a dog.

My inner child did a little jig when I saw the name, and the menu did not disappoint. I opted for the classic English brekkie, and let me tell you, it was a full-on feast for a champion. The sausage were juicy and plump, they burst with flavour in every bite. The egg was cooked as expected, their golden yolks begging to be mopped up with the accompanying toast. The bacon added a salty touch, while the baked beans offered a welcome touch of sweetness. But the real surprise was the fried bread. Golden and fluffy on the inside, it had a satisfyingly crispy exterior. It was the perfect vessel for scooping up beans, mopping up egg yolk, or simply savoring on its own. The toast, perfectly toasted and generously buttered, provided a more traditional option for those who prefer a less adventurous approach. The Beano Cafe isn't just about the food. The entire experience is a delightful homage to the world of Beano comic books. From the quirky decor to the friendly staff who seem to have stepped straight out of the pages, it injects a playful energy into the breakfast routine. Whether you're a Beano enthusiast or simply looking for a hearty and delicious breakfast in Canterbury, the Beano Cafe is a must-visit. The food is fantastic, the atmosphere is fun, and it's the perfect way to start your day with a smile. Just be warned, this breakfast is fit for a hero, so come hungry!

Dropped into this little gem because it was so close to our accommodation. Certainly not disappointed in any way. Staff were brilliant, service was quick and the food was really good. Would recommend.

If you are an impecunious tourist with a big appetite and an aversion to being treated as a cash cow by businesses who think of you as nothing else but a cash cow, then this is the place for you. This café hasn't changed much since the 1970's, when Ziggy Stardust and the Beano was competing for the attention of British school boys. The full British breakfast with a mug of tea and toast on the side is garanteed to keep you going till Evensong. Sadly you won't be served by Denis the Menace or Minnie Minx, expect instead to be served by staff who are welcoming, efficient and kind.

Good food and prices, conveniently located close to the city centre. I went to The Beano Cafe for a late morning breakfast consisting of scrambled eggs, two slices of toast, a portion of chips and a can of fizzy pop. The cost was only £7.00. Though this is a small Nero, the staff are wonderful and friendly, the drinks are well made, and the coffee is always fresh. As it is on the Uni Kent campus, it also has a lovely coffee shop/ bookstore vibe and is in the same building as Blackwell's Books. I highly recommend you grab your next cuppa here if you visit the University of Kent campus.

Coming here in the morning to get my iced flat white was the highlight of my day because of Brouk. Not only did he make the best coffees anywhere in Canterbury, he was also friendly, funny, and able to wait on 10 people at a time efficiently. Thank you, Brouk!

If I could I'd give 3.5 pr 3.75 stars. I had a hot chocolate which looked great, but tasted mostly syrupy and less like a creamy hot chocolate. The service is solid and the location is great. The vibe of the place seems chill and inviting with plenty of light. I'm sure this place is much busier, louder with longer waits in the summer months. That may be good or bad depending on what you're looking for. All in all, I'd certainly recommend a stop in, atleast to try the hot chocolate on a cold day like I did.

Found this place almost by accident. It's down the far end of the city, near to the West Tower. Clean, cosy & welcoming. Friendly staff, well spaced tables. Clean toilets too, always a plus! Had tea & a large slab of coffee cake, which was rather delectable! Very nice pit-stop. Will visit again.

Sat in a for a late lunch, ordered a gluten free pesto chicken sandwich and an iced oat chai latte. My friend got the grilled cheese with a flat white. Felt as though 15 quid was a bit expensive for my order - until the food was served! The sandwiches are massive and both my friend and I kept half for dinner. We both really enjoyed our meals! The staff were warm and welcoming, the cafe was relatively quiet for a Saturday at 12:45pm. There were a variety of cakes available as well, with a fair amount of gluten free and vegan options available. Staff clarified whether my gluten free sandwich order was due to an allergy or a preference. Overall, would recommend, especially for those with a gluten intolerance!

We were desperate for a good coffee and a local suggested this place. Located near the entrance to the cathedral (which was packed with students of all ages on excursions), we nestled into a table and ordered our long awaited our coffee. Looking at the soup a fellow diner was having I was somewhat jealous. Next time! Loved the quirkiness of this place with fun and interesting signage, cute decor and funky ambience. Wheelchair friendly. Kid friendly. Good location. Lovely staff. We will return.

Really lovely place! A friend of mine recommended the place to me and I checked it out! Great coffee, I had a white mocha with hazelnut syrup and oat milk (amazingly made, and tasted great), and I had this really tasty granola bowl with yogurt, oats, strawberries, raspberries and some other tasty fruit (10/10 mix, I asked for some cinnamon and maple syrup to add and it was exceptional to me). Really cool vibe to the place, and was really impressed by the miniature train set they have towards the back. Shout out to rachel for her kind service and the male staff with glasses (he actually built the train set himself! Really impressive). I’ll definitely be back, highly recommend!

Great independently run coffee shop in the heart of Canterbury. Everything is home made and delicious. Staff and friendly, helpful and will give advice about visiting the city. They are a card only business but offer both sit down and take away options

I like my morning coffee in a nice atmosphere so here to give it a go and they didn't disappoint me. Very nice friendly ambience with positive vibes. Good coffee, good service even I'll have had to wait for 10min to order. Hope coming back again when in town.

The Frappe and smoothies were amazing specially the Mix fruit smoothie. The staff were so warm and welcoming.

It’s a really cool coffee shop, ideal for bringing a book and enjoying a delicious coffee or whatever pleases you the most while reading or just enjoying life. Great atmosphere, friendly staff and usually nice customers too. Highly recommended.

Great location! Michael and his team are really kind, and provide healthy food and great coffee! I recommend highly to visit! Side note: if you visit: 1 - If you bring your own cup, you can get a 20p discount, or a large drink for the price of a small one 2 - They have a fidelity card with 9 hot beverages bought, the 10th one is for free!

Loved the duck and noodles dish. It’s a bit overpriced for students tho. Hated the coffee especially the vegan ones. The Mocca was okay.
