Although the willow tea room was closed due to relocation, which looks amazing by the way loved mercia Water Park had a lovely, full cooked breakfast at the canal boat cafe, beautiful day too weather hot Thursday 20th March 2025

The first time we visited was in march, we only grabbed a coffee but there was a guy Infront of myself ordering a breakfast, when informed it was a 30minute wait he didn't bat and eyelid and just replied it's worth it. We visited this morning I had the Wide beam and my wife had the narrow boat breakfast... Mr man in march was spot on, it was easily the best breakfast I've had in a long time. The eggs were well cooked not "snotty", the sausages gorgeous, asked for the bacon well done and it was perfect, I couldn't quite manage all of it but I forced myself to eat what I could and it kept me going all through a very busy & physical day. The guy sat outside with a huge bird of prey on his arm while casually drinking a coffee... Well, superb.

First time visiting here, and we weren't disappointed, it is very popular and we wondered if we would get a seat, but luckily there were 4 tables available. Greeted nicely by the staff and got our menu's. Very nice range of food to choose from from light bites to bigger meals. We went for quiche salad and chips and eggs benedict, and a pot of tea. Very fast service and we were pleasantly surprised.see pics. Will definitely be back. The prices are very reasonable too. See pics of menu.

Willow Tree Tea Room is now situated opposite Mercia Marina. It is a wonderful tea room. With ample free car parking.it has ample seating both indoors and outdoors with pleasant views of the marina. The food is excellent and nicely presented. It is reasonably priced and generous portions. Staff are friendly, helpful, and professional.

A well proportioned cafe plenty of outside dining space and good parking. Offers a wide range of tasty looking breakfasts with vegetarian options. The first time I have been offered a raspberry jam croissant, but it was quite nice. I would imagine this place is very busy during tourist season. Prices seem reasonable for the quality offered. Staff are .pleasant

Had a fantastic experience at The Family Tree! The atmosphere was warm and inviting, with a lovely countryside charm. The food was delicious, well-prepared, and generously portioned. The staff were friendly, attentive, and made us feel welcome from start to finish. Whether you’re stopping by for a coffee, a meal, or just a relaxing time, this place is definitely worth a visit. Highly recommended!

Lovely garden at the back. Toilets (clean) outside are down some steps. Accessible path to garden. Friendly staff. Lovely cheese scones - ask for them to be warmed. Dog friendly. UPDATE: probably the best halloumi & falafel baguette in the area!

Best place in Hartington to get a quick drink, breakfast, lunch, sweet snack or do a little shopping. Previously only getting some products and gifts from farm shop, this time we stopped for breakfast (full English) and coffee. Mocha was really nice and served very quickly. We had t wait for breakfast but it wasn't more than 15 minutes. The breakfast was very tasty and the portion was definitely too big for me. The menu is decent, including the menu for kids, gluten free, vegetarian and vegan options. Great cake display on the counter and very good prices (next time I'll try some of the cake). The staff was friendly and helpful. The place is converted farm, with lots of space. The shop is situated in front, the cafe in the back with plenty of tables. Local artists pictures are on the walls (for sale) which gives more character, the place is clean. What's also worth mentioning is that the farm shop won some awards and they source ingredients from local farms.

I stopped here for breakfast on a bike trip. It’s a nice spot and the people are friendly. It took quite a while to have my order taken but once I did they were very pleasant. The food was really tasty - I had poached eggs and avocado. There were several cyclists outside when I arrived having coffee so obviously a local haunt.

Popped here for breakfast after parkrun and it was very nice indeed, there 15 of us and they coped perfectly, food was excellent service happy and considering how busy they were it was great to get such good quality

Lovely tea rooms in a very attractive location and building. They have their own car park which is free (be careful to use the right one as there's a chargeable car park next to it!). Really friendly welcome and helpful service. Food and drink was excellent and reasonably priced. One of the best and most generous sausage sandwiches I've ever had - delicious!!

I got a tipoff from a shopkeeper in Hartington that rather than paying for the NP carpark, I could grab tea and cakes from the tearoom and park for free - sure enough there's a sign saying 'spend a penny with me and park for free'! I got a takeaway cup of tea for my thermos and set off along the Manifold Trail, assured that I was welcome to park as long as I liked. Three hours of walking later I rewarded myself with a lovely slice of Banana and Pistachio cake, and a hot chocolate (made in a machine but perfectly passable). There's a small giftshop with postcards and local crafts which is worth perusing too. Service was friendly, and it strikes me as a great deal to be able to park for free in exchange for a drink and snack that I probably would have got anyway!

Super café with a free car park. It also has a vast outdoor seating area with picnic benches. Toilets available in the adjacent Manifold Valley Visitor Centre.

Went on a 70 mile bike ride this was our half way cafe break, had a bacon cheese and mushroom bap and a cappuccino £11 was delicious, staff were extremely friendly can't praise everything enough will definitely be using again 👍👍👍

With the weather in the minus outside, Tylers is the perfect place for a late breakfast. Not bad at all. Fresh bread? Followed by another coffee and a scone. Easy to park for 2 hours. Happy cafe.

I came to Tyler’s tearooms today for afternoon tea with my dad. The food was just incredible! Beautiful cakes and sandwiches and you could have as much tea as you liked. All the staff was so nice and made us feel welcome. I really would highly recommend coming here. Thank you for having us.

Lovely tea room with a good selection of food options. Service excellent and friendly. The tea room was very busy when we were there, but the staff managed the service very well. Toilet facilities nice and clean. I must ho back to try the breakfasts. They looked excellent!

Local breakfast/lunch cafe in Castle Donnington high street, very cosy atmosphere, staff are so friendly and and a decent English breakfast with local sourced bacon/sausages.

Lovely little place. The cheese toasty I ordered for my son was exceptional value and the salad looked like it had just been cut there and then, there was no wilting at all. Plenty of parking too, I highly recommend visiting if you're in the area and peckish. My only little feedback would be to cut the sausage in half so the customer doesn't have to.

I'm always curious when small cafes try to do more than quick bites. So I had to come and try some of the Vietnamese Fusion Dishes on offer that were "Made to order by our very own Vietnamese chef with fresh ingredients from traditional family recipes". Vietnamese Noodle Salad, Chicken- 10.5 5/5 ⭐ It is a light and refreshing vermicelli rice noodle salad in a tangy Vietnamese chilli & garlic dressing with fresh veg. It is filling and the dressing has a very nice flavour and spice blend. Banh Mi - 10.5 3/5 ⭐ Asian-style baguette with sliced chicken breast, chilli sauce, cucumber, coriander, spring onions and a carrot & radish kimchi slaw, in a crunchy baguette. Nothing too special just a baguette with a different sauce added but still a very filling meal, so a nice meal if you wanted to try something a little different. Fresh Vietnamese chicken Spring Rolls - 10.5 5/5⭐ Homemade rice paper rolls, packed with light vermicelli noodles, carrots, cucumber spring onion and lettuce. Served with herbs and a hoisin peanut chilli dipping sauce. Love the sauce and it's a fresh, light meal. Oat Chai Latte 5/5⭐

Perfect little cafe for a coffee, handmade cakes or breakfast. We're into healthy eating so eat real food/low carb and the folks at Piptree were more than happy for us to ditch the beans, bread and potatoes for extra egg. (Not everywhere is this accomodating.) Great atmosphere, lovely staff, couldn't recommend it more highly.

Lovely little place & really good food with 200 degrees coffee

I went back to this delightful bistro for the second time! It’s super friendly and welcoming, and they have an amazing selection of delicious breakfast options. The mushrooms were to die for - they were buttery and not at all rubbery! I had the full English breakfast, and it was plenty. They even included a big pot of tea. I’ll definitely be back! The wait for my food was about 20 minutes, but it was totally worth it because everything was freshly cooked.

Took mother in law on a spur of the moment lunch out, chose the bistro due to the positive reviews. We really enjoyed the food, its excellent and very well priced. Staff are attentive and friendly. Thankyou we will be back again soon

Superb service,the broccoli and Stilton quiche was 2/3 inch thick!! Homemade,outstanding.Only thing was the homemade chips were a bit limp.Would i go again? Yes.

This is a wonderful place to come and have an early morning breakfast, especially whilst walking your pet dog, you can book a table in advance or just walk in, the staff are very pleasant and helpful and will definitely find a place for you... The decor is very relaxing, spacious and extremely comfortable... The food is delicious and of course there's also a lunch time menu to choose from... There's even a doggie menu for your furry friend to enjoy a selection of food, my Bobbi chose The Drooler, he soon finished it off... tasty!! There's indoor and outdoor seating available... So come on down to the Willow Tree Bistro, it's a must... I'm sure you'll definitely be returning ... It's well worth the journey... Enjoy!!

Definitely the best breakfast around! I nipped in on the weekend for a full breakfast and I took few cakes away for my family. Soooo good. I was there with my young nephew so sat in the family room and he loved drawing on the chalkboard.. I love the fact there is a room just for adult and older children… working with kids a lot, I definitely appreciate the quieter area!

Went today with 2 small people, reserved a table yesterday in the family room. The children loved chalking on the boards while waiting for their lunches, not a long wait at all, we had a large order, the children having a jacket potato, macaroni and home made chips, and me having a toasted scone and salad and dad a panini, posh coffee, hot chocolate and milkshakes and all for around £10 each including ginger breads. Fresh food, clean and nice staff. We then went around the farm to see the animals and saw 3 lambs brought into the world. What a lovely day.
