Had a lovely experience yesterday! Very family friendly (we had a pram, and they put out a baby change for us). The service was very good. The little finishing touches of bringing cutlery on a plate and sauce on a little side plate, too, made it a more pleasant experience. Food is an amazing value for money! Also full for the entirety of our time there, which I feel speaks volumes!

I’m an independent carer and care for a lady with dementia. On this day my lady wouldn’t come out of the car, I popped in and asked if they offered take away - without hesitation the lady was very accommodating and told me what she would be able to do for me. They were very quick! Very friendly! I’ll definitely be back here to try some warmer meals. Special menu had lots of offer and the food I was seeing be served looked delicious! I look forward to returning. Inside, the cafe had a very cosy feeling. What a lovely place to stumble across! They even gave us some wooden trays to take with us to eat on and offered to help me to the car! The baguettes and salad we had tasted so fresh and was very lovely! Thank you very much. I can’t recommend this place enough!

My mum, dad and myself had been here on a previous trip to Ashbourne, but only had a cappuccino with the time getting on, and we found it to be a lovely place. So this time, on a solo trip, I decided to stop by for breakfast, which came with two sausages, bacon, baked beans, mushroom, a tomato, black pudding, hash browns, fried bread and white or brown toast. Thankfully, it wasn't too crowded inside and I was able to choose a table at the bottom, nearest the counter, as these are great for solo customers or a party of two. Had a look through the menu, and chose the regular breakfast with granary toast and a cappuccino for the drink. Super cosy place with awesome chairs and tables (going for the marbled look, complimenting the black and white chairs very well!) It was clean and I noticed, by the side, there was a glass jar of dog treats and some blankets, so I think well-behaved dogs are allowed. The lady who served me, as well as the other ladies, were super pleasant and very friendly. Food came out and was presented nicely on the plate, everything hot and cooked to perfection! The fried egg was fabulous and runny, the sausages well-seasoned (proper ones too, not like some you get elsewhere). The hash browns were nice and crispy, not soggy at all! Very filling and certainly set me up for the day. I think the breakfast and cappuccino came to about £16 altogether, which I don't think is bad at all, considering everything was fresh. Would have no hesitation coming back in the future, and would HIGHLY recommend! Many thanks to the staff at Café Impromptu!

Lovely cafe, visited whilst in the area for my Hen party. Had booked a table for 6, order at the counter and food and drinks came very quickly. Recommend the mango and passion fruit pancakes. Food presented very well and I think the prices are fair.

Exceptional experience. This was our first ever visit with our 4 legged friend and the welcome could not have been any more warmer. The servers were chatty, polite and ready to explain anything and everything about their menu. I had my first taste of a rice crispie chicken burger and all I can say is wow! You must try to appreciate it. Hot chocolate and coffee we would go as far the say the BEST in Derbyshire. We can’t wait to return.

Great food and lovely atmosphere. Shakshuka and pancakes were filling and tasty. Fab coffee and we are coming back for margaritas later 😜. You should come here. It is fabulous. Luke looked after us very well 👍🏻

Really nice breakfast spot with a great selection on the menu. The decor and ambiance is also really nice and works perfectly. The dishes are nicely presented and the drinks and coffee options are also good. I had the eggs benedict but would have preferred the eggs to be slightly more cooked as the whites were a little runny but still edible (poached eggs aren't the easiest) and I think a tad more bacon too as it was quite slim. Others in my group had a full English and the bacon and chicken pancakes which they enjoyed. We also tried the special brew of coffees which was a nice experience. Overall really good place and would consider revisiting if in the area.

Popped in for a cuppa after a long walk. It was great to sit in the window and watch the world go by - a lovely spot! Darjeeling was excellent, staff very friendly and nice atmosphere. Would definitely recommend

Amazing find. Lovely eclectic cafe with comfortable seating including an outside area (if it looks full it's still worth asking since they have a lot of seating back from the window). Good selection of items on the menus incl breakfast, wraps, panini's so lot to choose from. We had the full monty breakfast and it was huge! Tea came in a pot with hot water and proper cups and saucers which is a lovely touch.

Beaumonts of Ashbourne. Straight away, you feel welcome. Staff was very friendly and the new member of the staff was brilliant. Inside and out are beautiful. Lots to choose from A fabulous full English breakfast To Naughty, stunning yummy cakes 🎂 I have to say the sausages are amazing and I can honestly say they are lovely very meaty. I really couldn't fault the food at all. I had water to drink as I don't normally drink anything else apart from an early morning coffee. Again very friendly and was happy serving just water as a drink. People may ask why I mention this as some places are funny about serving water. It came as a surprise to be offered to sit outside or in. From the front door it looks small but once inside, it's stunning. Great decor, quirky fittings, some great photos and posters. Did not eat, so cannot comment on the food. Bubbly bar girls. Good view of passing world outside. Nice Hells Lager, but for some reason it took 10 minutes to serve 2 pints to our table, with no other customers..

I'm so happy that the Old Smithy has reopened! It used to be a favourite stop on our walks, and we missed it so much. We worried if the new owners would maintain the charm and atmosphere, but we were not disappointed. The menu is basic, but the portions are generous, and the food is really fresh and tasty. The staff are superb!!!! Very friendly, yet polite and respectful. The service was prompt and efficient. Cannot wait to go back. I sincerely hope that the business will thrive and wish the new owners all the best of luck.

This was our third visit to this lovely cafe, each time has exceeded expectations. Today we tried the breakfast and it definitely did not disappoint, good quality ingredients, beautifully presented. The service was spot on too, happy and friendly. We look forward to our next visit. 🙂

Very quick review... If you go to any cafe around Chesterfield this is absolutely a must not miss. The food is really beyond even my expectations and the coleslaw ♥️♥️♥️. For an old jaded restaurant critic this was just wonderful. Really. So, check out the Old Smithy, it's utterly exquisite on all fronts (decor, food, and service). My highest award: FIVE NOMS 🎂🎂🎂🎂🎂

I’ve visited The Old Smithy many times! I've been for breakfast, brunch, and lunch and it never disappoints. The food is consistently top-notch, and their signature Smithy blend coffee is hands down the best I’ve ever had. The staff are always warm, welcoming, and greet you with genuine smiles. Absolutely love this place. Been a few times now and the atmosphere, food and drinks are second to none. There's loads of cafes around but let's be honest there not always great and that's what makes the cornerstone cafe stand out to me and dogs are welcome! What more can you ask! It's clean and tidy, they provide games for kids for books for someone who just wants to have a chilled day there and the home made cakes are next level! Their prices on the food are also fantastic. Anyway stop reading this review and get yourself there and fill your guts!

The best cafe in town, I cycled the monsal and Tissington trails to get here and was greeted by an outstanding Kofta and Halloumi flatbread. Ambience and quality was spot on. Thank you!

What a lovely place! The food was delicious, and the staff were fantastic. While the 25-minute wait on Saturday morning was expected, we were eager to get out and hike, so it felt a bit long. Fair play, we probably chose the busiest time to dine there!

We struggled to find a caffe on a busy Sunday and I was so happy they had seats here. I was surprised to see they had some original home made cakes. The best cake I’ve had in a coffee house ever. It was a raspberry white chocolate sponge. Perfect. Not too sweet, you can tell they put love

This food is second to none - we had ham and cheese croissants and two lattes ❤️ Absolutely delicious!! And big portions !! The staff led by Lisa were so friendly and welcoming - will visit again in the very near future ❤️

Having seen others' reviews, when we went to Ashbourne, we headed to Friends. Full English with fried bread (yes, fried bread!) for me and poached eggs on muffins for her. Couldn't eat all my Full English (even after passing over my hash browns to her) it was so big. Nice coffees too. Oh yes, and the mushrooms were proper fried portobellos. Very pleased we visited! Picture of menu included, but blackboard on wall showed loads of other nice stuff on offer.

A strange ambience here but I’m not apposed to it. Clearly going for an upmarket boutique hotel type styling and while it seems odd for the area I quite like it Coffee was strong and decent. Cakes looked good although I didn’t try any. Staff were not rude but also not overly friendly. I’d definitely go back

Probably the most dog friendly cafe we have been to, lots of dog treats and water bowels. The staff (all young) were great, really friendly and helpful. The food was good quality with generous portions. We had the chicken and bacon panini melt 🙂. Nice cosy outside covered area Very pleased we found the Tunnel Cafe 👍🏻

Lovely place. Went for breakfast, it was a Monday so a bit quiet, but quick service and great food.

Our Sunday breakfast at Jack Rabbits in Ashbourne was very nice. My daughter loved her pancakes and the breakfast roll with bacon, sausage and fried egg was great too. Nice interior decor. Prices maybe a little above average but still worth it.

Lovely place to get some food from coffee and cake to a proper meal. Lots of options for a variety of dietary requirements like vegan and gluten free. It was clean, modern and had a very lovely atmosphere. Staff were so friendly and helpful. They couldn't have done any more. The food was amazing and delicious. Everyone was happy with their meal and we all went away very satisfied. Would definitely come back again next time we're in the area.
