“Gorgeous food and a great selection of real ales and ciders. I'm really fussy when it comes to eating out and I think that may possibly have been the nicest pub lunch I've ever had! Perfectly cooked and seasoned chips; a beef and ale pie that was freshly cooked and full of tender meat (not a piece of fat or gristle to be found!) and rich gravy with perfect short crust pastry; rich and meaty extra gravy, and a selection of tasty vegetables. Yum! Would've tried the puddings but I filled up completely on just the main - perfect portion size! Friendly staff and good character. Toilets were clean and pleasant and even had emergency stash in the ladies. Would recommend and will bear in mind if we're passing again.”

“This charming little cafe in Ashbourne is a real gem. We stopped by for breakfast and were pleasantly surprised by both the quality and value. We ordered the Full English breakfast, which was generous and satisfying. It included two tasty sausages, a perfectly cooked fried egg, crispy bacon, baked beans, mushrooms, tomato, toast, and even a slice of fried bread — all for just £12.75. Considering the portion size and the variety on the plate, it’s excellent value for money. To drink we had a vanilla latte and a refreshing orange juice, both reasonably priced and a great complement to the meal. We left feeling comfortably full — exactly what you want from a good breakfast! The cafe itself is cosy and welcoming, with a relaxed atmosphere that makes it easy to settle in and enjoy your time. There’s also an outdoor seating area upstairs which is a lovely touch if you’re visiting on a sunny day. Overall, it’s a great spot for a casual bite and a warm drink. We’ll definitely be returning the next time we’re in Ashbourne.”

“Really nice breakfast spot with a great selection on the menu. The decor and ambiance is also really nice and works perfectly. The dishes are nicely presented and the drinks and coffee options are also good. I had the eggs benedict but would have preferred the eggs to be slightly more cooked as the whites were a little runny but still edible (poached eggs aren't the easiest) and I think a tad more bacon too as it was quite slim. Others in my group had a full English and the bacon and chicken pancakes which they enjoyed. We also tried the special brew of coffees which was a nice experience. Overall really good place and would consider revisiting if in the area.”

“Stopped in to Castleton on our way back from Mam Tor, and found this lovely little spot for lunch. Great menu, very friendly and polite staff and just the perfect place to grab a quick bite to eat and a much needed refuel! Coffees were hot (none of this lukewarm, pretty foam art nonsense thankfully!) and very good beans, baguettes were huge and stuffed with filling, and the hand cut, home made chips were exceptional! Definitely give this place a try if you're heading through or staying in Castleton”

“A smashing place for a lovely brunch. Visited on a lovely Sunday afternoon and enjoyed sitting outside. Great views whilst you enjoy a drink or something to eat. Plenty of space inside and on the outdoor terrace. The staff here were excellent, super helpful and always on it. The food was freshly prepared and very good. We loved the moto "We don't do fast food, we do fresh food as fast as we can"!! Would definitely recommend.”

“We arrived on a busy Friday lunchtime and a queue was forming for tables. However, staff were polite and efficient, doing their best to accommodate people. We were offered a side window bench which we took and a waitress came to tell us their specials. Lucky us, we landed on a newly introduced Fish Friday and whilst we pondered our choices, a "proper" table came free and we were waved over. We placed an order of fish and chips each and also requested if we could takeaway a pulled pork panini for our son. A very reasonable reduction in price was offered for this. After a slight but expected wait for how busy it was, our food arrived and it was all freshly cooked, delicious and plentiful. The panini was brought over towards the end of us eating and stayed hot for us to take home. Will definitely be back, and hope fish Friday continues”

“What an amazing UNIQUE little cafe! You can pick out a raw pottery and paint it yourself whilst slurping a lovely hot drink (non-diary option is also available). The lovely ladies then finalising the process (baking and glazing) that takes up to a week, so you can either pick up or get your shiny, signature pottery posted to you. 😃 Lovely way to spend time and bag a unique experience - highly recommended.”

“Went into Ashbourne to find somewhere for lunch. We walked past Cheddar Gorge and were instantly drawn in! Everything you could want in a deli! Huge selection of different cheeses, sauces, relish, homemade pastries and a plethora of cakes! My husband went for the New York Deli sandwich and was blown away. Pastrami, sauerkraut, gherkins, rocket and soft bread. Photo doesn’t do it justice as he wanted to delve in straight away. We will definitely return the next time we’re in Ashbourne!”

“Lovely little cafe. I like that you have to wonder through the park to find this place. The cafe building itself is quite small but there is plenty of outdoor seating, most of which is undercover either under a gazebo or an umbrella. We only had coffee's and a scone but both were great and the service was fast. The staff are very welcoming and dogs are welcome too. A hidden gem.”

“Excellent service and attractive room. Menu choices are limited but suitable for a light lunch. Prices are quite high and I would expect to order at the table for this cost. It's certainly different and special compared to other lunchtime restaurants in the area. Attractive building, boutique shops and garden.”
