Reviews
This review is in past context (although I'm sure it's still a lovely little pub to this day) I remember visiting this pub for lunch with my family as we was all coming out of the lockdown period. What a great time we all had. Food was great and the staff were all so friendly! Sorry about a very belated 5* review! I do wish to visit again soon.
Step into a slice of history at this timeless gem of a pub, proudly serving patrons since the 16th century. Its walls resonate with stories, while its well-stocked bar boasts a delightful selection of beers and ciders, a testament to its enduring charm. The carefully landscaped garden offers both sun-drenched benches and secluded spots, catering to every preference. As for the menu, a wide array of options including generous offerings for vegetarians. The tantalizing aromas wafting from the kitchen show a lot of promise. I'll certainly be back to sample the fare and savor a few ales.
Nothing to complain about, as I have a smaller apitite the choice of smaller plate on all options was excellent. The food was piping hot and well presented. There was great Gluten Free choices as well. I would highly recommend
Excellent. If I could give it 6 stars, I would. I came in on a whim with my dog. Never been before. What a beautiful little pub and the roast beef was divine. A good portion, well cooked, vegetables perfect and lots of gravy! In most places I find myself asking for an extra pot. My dog was made to feel very welcome and I wasn't looked at oddly when I asked for an extra portion of beef for her, they brought over a little plate. I enjoyed it so much I forgot to take a picture! But I did remember with the sumptuous sticky toffee pudding which is gluten free so I'm not bloated or full. I'll definitely be back.
Several of us from my U3A popped in for lunch recently. We were all pleased with our lunch in terms of quality and value for money. It was busy and only Gordon serving which meant he was providing drinks, bringing out food and clearing the tables. I suspect a one man staff is linked with the government cuts which are having a catastrophic affect on small businesses! Bravo Gordon and I know that in lockdown the HB did a great service in the local community. I will definitely return. Thank you.
