The humble jacket is sadly going out of fashion these days so not many places offer them apart from caffs etc. There was a jacket potato stall so I decided to get a plain jacket to appreciate and see if it was a good potato. Jackets these days are presented differently from the past like shown on their product pictures. The old way was cutting a cross in the middle and pressing the jacket from the four sides and using a fork to fluff it up. A good jacket will fluff up. Anyway, I guess these days it is more convenient to flatten them out for the fillings. The jacket I had was nice but somehow different because the potato is different and the skin is thinner with a strong earthy taste. Overall, definitely worth trying.

The only good thing about Stevenage js Mr Spuds truck. I ordered the garlic chilli chicken spud with crispy onions on top. The garlic chilli chicken was cooked to perfection with plenty of pieces of chicken and amazing flavour! Mr Spud himself is a gem of a person, kind and considerate to all his customers, may god bless him with more success. 10/10 recommend

Havent been to the UK in over 10 years and this is my first time trying a jacket potato in a while and definitely 10/10. The portion was so big, my sister and I decided to get one and share cause we just wanted something light to eat and we are glad we did cause we ended up being so full! Service was also 10/10 Mr Spud was so nice and chatty and just made you want to be chatty as well (really wished I asked for his name) and they let us try so many variations before picking (thats a win for me already!) We had the chicken curry with some cheese and garlic butter and it was delicious but i didn’t get any decent photos cause i was ready to dig in! Definitely have to go back at least twice to try out more flavours before I leave the UK!

The kind gentleman behind the counter suggested I get the chicken curry spud with cheese. It had just the right amount of cheese that you could feel in every bite and the chicken curry itself was lovely. Overall, very impressed. I am not local but I will definitely make the effort and come here again to try more.

Absolutely super. Chole (chickpeas) curry and rice (for a fiver!). I also had a potato samosa with tamarind sauce and a lassi. Really perfect for me. Honestly, I could not have been any happier and such nice genuine people too. Good result.

Enjoyed our first visit to CHA KULCHA in the Stevenage Indoor Market. We ordered one regular (1 samosa) and one large samosa chaat (2 samosas,) and 2 cups of karak chai. Simple and tasty - I'd highly recommend CHA KULCHA as an alternative to the lunchtime chicken and chips. Frienfly service, and they have a 5 star hygiene rating two.

Came here for the pre-opening and will be back very soon. Don't be fooled by the simplicity of the dishes, it's packed full of flavour! The staff and owners are very friendly and happy to accommodate dietary requirements. Everything is freshly made and absolutely delicious.

So the indoor market is a great facility that seems deliberately designed to fail. It closes at 5 and is only open wed to Saturday. But.... It has relatively cheap rents and as a result it has one of the best food start up scenes going. Stevenage town centre already has a good selection of street food vans but the indoor market adds significantly to the range of food available, often at street food prices. So what's new? Cha Kulcha takes over from the old Leavan bakers, (that have now moved to Walkern), and offer a limited but really good menu. As a corner by the south entrance it's prone to noise and dust in a way that the other food booths are not, but as a place to sip chai and chat it's one of the most relaxed and cheapest places in town. Try the fresh baked cinnamon swirls....! Really nice staff make up for the less than perfect building, and if you want a little taste of the Punjab, this is the place to come. They could tidy up the look of the seats a bit more, and they have the option of doing something more adventurous with the books, (Did I mention they also have a good freebie book shelf!?), but chai and a biscuit or cake came in at under £4 and you can sit down to have it and take your time. A hidden gem, and make sure you try the lamb stew on Friday or Saturday!

We absolutely love this place. Very friendly service and just incredible food. Try to go once a week if time allows. Our children even ask to come here now. The coffee is to die for! Best breakfast in Stevenage 🙏🏻 Went again today 16/3/25 - still as amazing as when it first opened. Superb food and incredible coffee.

Lolo’s Cafe Bistro - A Local Gem Lolo’s Cafe Bistro is hands down our favorite local spot! I don’t think I’ve ever had a bad meal here, and trust me, I’ve had plenty. At one point, I was having more breakfasts here than at home in a week—that’s how much I love their food! My husband swears by their shakshuka, which is always packed with flavor, while I’m completely obsessed with their French toast. Honestly, I’ve never had better French toast anywhere else—it’s just perfect every time! The team at Lolo’s is another reason we keep coming back. They’re always so friendly and warm, making every visit feel like a treat. What truly stands out is the quality of their food—everything is freshly cooked and consistently high-quality. Whether it’s a cozy breakfast or a leisurely brunch, Lolo’s never disappoints. Highly recommend!

The food and service were both great, first time going and the staff were friendly and helpful happy to answer any questions. The food was amazing, so tender and juicy, chips and bread were my favorites. The decor is lovely but the whole experience is pretty much outdoor, to my surprise blankets are dotted around to help which I loved as you don't see this anywhere else. I'm looking forward to my second visit. Big thanks to the staff for making it a great end to a lovely day

Didn’t realise this place existed until last week but couldn’t wait to try it out. Went today and was not disappointed! The food was amazing, super soft brisket, incredible pulled pork and amazing sausage. The whole platter was just delicious! I can’t wait to go back and try the burgers. Oh, and their home made bbq sauce was incredible! Staff were very friendly and welcoming, took extra care with a gluten intolerance so we didn’t need to worry. Did not expect to find a smokehouse like this in Stevenage but so glad we have it now. Can’t wait to go back!

Wow. What a fantastic place. The food and service was first class. Some great drinks as well. Was down from Wolverhampton and was looking for places to eat and came across Smoke. Definitely looked like a place were I would eat. Went through the reviews and 95% was positive so booked up. Large group ordered and food came out at good speed. Food was well presented and warm. The taste was fantastic. We had platters, burgers, burnt ends and sides. The seating area are picnic style benches, has fire pits and definitely feels like you are in a smoke house in Texas ( which I have been to a few). Thank you for a great evening and if we are ever down Stevenage again we will definitely be popping in

The restaurant owner is Korean and she is very friendly and nice. The food is really good value. The restaurant is clean and with good vibe. We also took away one pot of the owner’s handmade kimchi. I have been to Korea 6 times and tried quite a few Korean food there. I wouldn’t say the food in this restaurant is 100% authentic, but still delicious with decent size. We would come back again.

There were four of us visiting on a weekday, we spent a total of £45.38 for one main dish each, one dessert (that we split four ways) and one soft drink each. Neither of us is a Korean food aficionado, but we give it four stars across the board, because the portions, in our opinion, were a bit too small for the price that was being charged, and the dessert menu was lackluster (out of four desserts listed, two were out of stock). However, what we did have was tasty and the servers (though not very experienced) were enthusiastic about their jobs. So to summarise, it's worth visiting once, just so that you have experienced what the Korean food its like at Gang Nam Restaurant, so we don't regret going, but we saw no real reason to be returning our custom.

I have been wanting to try Gangnam for some time now. Finally did and was not disappointed. Food was delicious and service was friendly. There is a lot to try on the menu so I will definitely be back again and again.

Ordered a take away. All the dishes were tasty although the meat was a bit corse and not as tender as I expected. Hence the 4 stars. The portion size was good. We spent £46 for a green curry, a stir fry, a pad Thai and a portion of Thai crackers. That is with a 10% collection discount. It was enjoyable. Stevenage is well served by Thai restaurants, personally this is my 2nd choice.

The food is a bit too spicy and the prices are too high for the service outside the lunch menu offer, however, the quality is good and the atmosphere inside is great. The thai tea was tiny bit with too much ice but otherwise excellent

Lovely place on the high street. The staff were friendly and helped us with understanding the menu as we had one person with allergies. The staff could be seen and came to us quickly when we were ready to order. Much better than other restaurants where it's a challenge to try and get the attention of staff to take orders or even to pay. The food was really nice and the lunch time meal is good value. I would recommend this restaurant.

I visited Sala Thong for their lunch special, offering two courses for £14.90, and it was an excellent choice for a midday treat. For starters, my friend and I shared the chicken satay and calamari. Both dishes were fresh and flavorful—the satay was perfectly tender with a rich, creamy peanut sauce, while the calamari was crispy and well-seasoned. For mains, we tried the pineapple fried rice and chicken pad see ew. The pineapple fried rice was a delightful mix of sweet and savory flavors, and the pad see ew had a great balance of smoky, charred noodles and tender chicken. Although the lunch special didn’t include dessert, we couldn’t resist ordering the mango sticky rice pudding, which turned out to be the star of the meal. The combination of sweet mango, creamy coconut, and sticky rice was absolutely divine. The service was quick and friendly, which made the whole experience smooth and enjoyable. I also appreciated the open kitchen concept—it was fun to see the chefs in action, preparing each dish with care. Overall, Sala Thong offers a fantastic value for delicious Thai food with a warm and inviting atmosphere. I’ll definitely be returning, especially for that mango sticky rice!

I can't give this place more praise. The staff were on hand and to a high standard. The manager/owner was fantastic!!! They really make any customer seem like a VIP. That's just the service. The restaurant is amazing, decorated, and fitting with the old town theme as well as Turkish background. The food? You won't find better. The guys in the kitchen knew what they were doing, presented it well and obviously worked hard. Zero faults. I will definitely come back here.

Just a wonderfull place, we were in for a little chat and one of the owner just took the time. For the rest of the meal people were very friendly and helpful. The interior is great even the toilets were clean and cosy. The food was just awesome, we had the hot mezze and a grill with different meats. Best meat I've had in a very long time (especially the lamb ribs). An absolute must-try when you are in the neighbourhood (or passing through ;))

Probably our favourite restaurant to go to regularly. Perfect for our family of three and we regularly take larger parties. We rave to anyone who will listen. We have our favourite bites but we can’t fault anything on the menu. The honey chicken, any croquettes, prawns, padron peppers and the pork cheeks are always are favourites finished off with the Biscoff cheesecake. Always a very friendly atmosphere.

Came all the way from Hong Kong to visit friends in Stevenage, and to my surprise, I found an authentic Thai restaurant that perfectly blends traditional flavors with the cozy vibes of a British local spot. Honestly, I haven’t come across a place with this kind of atmosphere back home in Hong Kong. The Tom Yum soup was wonderfully savory and full of flavor. I also tried the pineapple fried rice, which was delicious, and the Pad Thai and Drunken Noodles were equally excellent. The restaurant owner was so nice and inviting me to come again for lunch or dinner on another day. Sadly I had to fly back to Hong Kong but I will definitely revisit Golden Siam!

Returned for the Christmas lunchtime specials. Great tasting food with a drink included. Staff are friendly and helpful. Although it was busy there were enough staff that you didn't wait for long. I loved the prawn toast as photo. The Red Thai curry was very nice and as my request not too spicy. 😋

Very nice restaurant, highly recommend! Lunchtime menu is a still a good deal. I bring friends along with me there regularly and they are all jealous that we have such an authentic place near by.
