“First time at Banana Tree Stevenage today visited on a wet afternoon on a Saturday, lovely welcoming atmosphere staff were friendly and chatty. Really loved the decor and little touches like the lighting and even a few projectors, projecting images on the wall really felt cosy. Drinks took a little while to come as we could see them sat on the counter but it was nice that the gent behind the bar noted they'd been sat a while and brought them over himself. We had Korean BBQ wings for a starter which were amazing and came very fresh and hot, my partner had a chicken Massaman curry which again was fantastic and I had chicken and prawn pad Thai which again was equally incredible. Fresh food great portion sizes and a lovely atmosphere will definitely come again!”

“Wow. What a fantastic place. The food and service was first class. Some great drinks as well. Was down from Wolverhampton and was looking for places to eat and came across Smoke. Definitely looked like a place were I would eat. Went through the reviews and 95% was positive so booked up. Large group ordered and food came out at good speed. Food was well presented and warm. The taste was fantastic. We had platters, burgers, burnt ends and sides. The seating area are picnic style benches, has fire pits and definitely feels like you are in a smoke house in Texas ( which I have been to a few). Thank you for a great evening and if we are ever down Stevenage again we will definitely be popping in”

“We tried the new lunch time £9.99 deal. The Ribs were lacking in depth of flavour but fell of the bone and were juicy. The Pizza was far more superior and the sauce tasted authentic. The dough was thin and light and the crust was too. Very enjoyable and a good proportion of cheese. The staff were attentive and nice to engage with. I only removed stars from my ratings because the ribs were quite bland and relied on just the taste of the meat (which was good!) But lacked another more complimentary flavour like bbq. The reason I took a star off atmosphere was because they served us cokes from a glass bottle and didn't pour it, but then as soon as we poured it another staff member came and took the glass bottle. Why didn't the first one just pour the drink? Seemed like two people doing one job. They then offered us water on top of our cokes and we had 4 glasses with drinks so when the food arrived space was limited. Very happy though and will be returning again”

“We came to M&C Stevenage for Mother’s Day, booked for 5.30pm. We were told our table wasn’t quite ready so we sat near the bar but after about 15 minutes I went to ask if our table was ready and was told it would be very soon. As I returned to my seat, I think it may have been the manager who came over to apologise to us for the delay and to our surprise she offered us all free drinks as we had waited for a little while. That was a very welcome surprise and extremely good customer service. We were then shown to our table and were served by Mel, who was so welcoming and pleasant. We all felt really looked after by her. The food was amazing - I had the harissa and garlic king prawns for a starter and they were absolutely delicious. We did wait a little while between starters and mains but the atmosphere was great and we were relaxed with our drinks! We had the sharing board and every morsel was mouthwatering - the chicken, lamb and steak cooked to perfection with very tasty sides and gravy in abundance! This was my first time at the Stevenage restaurant and I will definitely be coming again! I rang the bell to show our appreciation to the chefs! As we left to go to our car, Mel came out looking for me in the car park as I’d dropped some things out of my handbag and she handed them to me - what a lovely lady - thank you for everything, Mel!”

“Christmas dinner with colleagues. Large party of us. We had pre-ordered and each dish came out with the corresponding persons name so as to not miss anyone out and to avoid the usual confusion of who had ordered what. Tasty food, attentive service. Bit of a wait for some drinks on occasions (some even arrived after we had paid the bill!) - but it was a busy Friday night near Christmas. Overall, a very positive experience.”
