The Best Restaurants in Tring, Hertfordshire, United Kingdom (2025)

Always an amazing experience here. We dined at the restaurant today because the Chef's table was full but still we had an incredible time. The food was great, the staff were very attentive and the atmosphere in the restaurant is lovely. This place is turning out to be our go to restaurant for special occasions.

If you travel from Essex to Hertfordshire for lunch then you must think it is worth the trip. Well let me tell you that a visit to Crockers in Tring is just that. This was our fourth time and once again we enjoyed a fabulous Tasting Menu from Scott and all his team. We made the one hour drive to Tring in Hertfordshire. We parked at the bottom of the high street and from there it’s only a short walk through the beautiful town to the top end which is where you will find Crockers. The place is set over three floors with as you enter on street level you will find the restaurant then downstairs is the Cellar Bar. This is where you’ll begin before you make your way to the first floor where the Chefs Table is situated. The chef’s table is a fifteen seater counter tasting menu dining experience where you will enjoy fabulous food and service as well as interacting and watching the team prepare and serve each course. We arrived to a friendly welcome before being escorted downstairs for an aperitif. Then you head to the first floor where you’ll be greeted by Scott and the team to begin your afternoon. The Tasting Menu is 9 courses and reasonably priced at £135 which personally is great value when you consider the quality of the produce. The first two courses are your snacks before the arrival of the fabulous Tring Brewery Beer Bread. This will lead you into the BEEF - this is a take on a burger with a beef tartare , smoked cheese , lettuce and mustard. This was followed by a fantastic SCALLOP - with squid , monks beard , seaweed and a roe butter sauce. These were two amazing courses yet what was to follow was even better. This led to the main course of HOGGET - a saddle with asparagus , stuffed morel mushroom and a black garlic purée. This dish was pure heaven and for me the standout dish of the day. Now it was time for the cheese and desserts. This started with the CHEESE - a barkham blue with an apple tart and lemon thyme honey. Your palate was then refreshed by the CITRUS - of bergamot , blood orange , fennel and olive oil. You would then finish with the RHUBARB - with opalys , ginger and fromage blanc. We finished with a coffee and what only can be described as an amazing selection of Petit Fours to round of a fantastic afternoon. This was an excellent menu and will be hard to beat this year. Every dish was perfectly cooked and well presented. Scott and the team do create a nice atmosphere and it’s also a great way to chat to fellow diners. I really would recommend a visit to Crockers as I think you’ll be in for a treat. We will definitely be back again before the year is out. Came for a Friday night dinner off a family recommendation and will definitely be coming back, the evening restaurant set menu was delicious and good value for money with 5 main courses (and 2 surprise courses making 7 total) for £65 a head. Staff were really professional but personable also and did a great job explaining all courses. The restaurant was a little quiet and some of the artwork not quite the same vibe as the amazing food and service but nothing bothersome at all!

Great place and dont mind paying more for ale. Just becarefull when pulling out on the roundabout especially if your car is rear wheel drive.

Tring brewery are a great brewer of ales (Sidepocket fora Toad is pribabky their best known beer. The brewery shop is a great place to visit if you want to get some fresh cask beer. When we visited, they had 9 different options, which you can purchase from 1L to 40L. They have a couple of self pour pumps to try some of the beer yourself, plus you can ask to try others before you buy. They have a great range of bottles in the shop as well, plus some ther mech and other items - I'd especially recommend the hot sauce (which is a colab with Grim Reaper foods). These plenty of parking outside the brewery.

Tring beer has undergone something of a transformation in the last few years. From all being a bit samey, their beer is consistently very drinkable now.

A small craft brewery on Dunsley Farm that has been producing real ale since 1992. They have a good selection of interesting ales that have a great flavour and body. You can walk over from the Tesco just opposite if you are just picking up a variety six pack or drive up and park to collect larger orders. They are always most accommodating as you would expect from an independent. Outside of covid restrictions they hold tours of the brewing facility of a variety of lengths some including a fish and chip supper. Recommended.

The menu catered for a wide variety of tastes and at very reasonable prices and good sized portions. The staff were friendly and efficient. The restaurant and a nice atmosphere. Would certainly recommend it.

We came here for lunch, lovely spacious restaurant, converted from an old post office. The service was friendly and food was good. Very family friendly.

Delicious Italian food with very large menu. Service is great. I went here with my dad last week and had a great experience. Food came out quickly and the waiters were very friendly and helpful. I had mussels for starter which was lovely really tastey sauce. My pasta came with loads of prawns and olives, my dad had a steak which was huge and cooked really well.

If I could give this 6 stars I would, carbonara for 13 pound at a posh restaurant is unheard of, and it tasted like it's worth about £35. Friendly and very professional and also VERY quick. Tiramisu is also gorgeous and the coffee is some of the best I've ever had(white americano). Very well done. Will definitely be coming back.

I’ve been coming in more often recently thanks to the warm, welcoming atmosphere — especially from Laura, who takes the time to really get to know her customers. I used to be strictly a cider drinker, but with her friendly guidance, I’ve discovered a whole new appreciation for IPAs. I’m now loving Sumo and starting to feel like a bit of a connoisseur myself!

Lovely atmosphere, great selection of drinks and staff are very welcoming. Would definitely recommend. Shout out to Laura who is fantastic behind the bar!!

Everytime we come here it’s such a lovely atmosphere and the drinks are amazing! A few times now we’ve been served by Laura and she’s been absolutely brilliant, even remembering the drinks we’d previously ordered a couple of weeks before. Her customer service is fantastic. Best bar in Tring

I have been drinking in the Craftyard in Tring for well over a year and love the choice of beers now. Laura has always been on hand to spend my money wisely (and freely) but always welcomes with a smile and a charm that keeps bringing me back. She isn’t just a great host but also a friend!

Lovely pub in Tring, I cycled from London, down the Grand union canel. A nice pint was perfect to finish the ride off. Such a nice welcoming atmosphere and lovely people. I would recommend to anyone who is around this area. 👍

Very good Fullers pub with great service, decent food and a range of well-kept cask ales. The ESB was superb, and went well with the small fish & chips- which was plenty big enough for me. Cheers! 🍻

Had this lovely woman with pink hair serve me and she was an absolute delight and a pleasure to deal with! Really made me feel welcome and it was an ideal spot to experience a true old British pub! Felt very old timey, homey and so historic! Only popped in for a quick drink! The outside patio was done up realy nice and I sent pictures of it back home for my mother! 12/10 will go back with the husband!

Just had an amazing lunch. I had lamb chops new pots carrots and green beans in an awesome gravy and the wife had a huge goats cheese and walnut salad. What can I say apart from go and try it yourself. Great portions and very friendly staff with a great choice of ales and lagers. I am stuffed. Had to eat some of the wife’s as she could not finish it.

It's my 3rd closest pub, but I think it will probably become my local! Friendly crowd, cozy feel, happy smiley people. Might sound weird, but you can tell a lot by the gents loos of a pub, if they smell nice, are clean and well lit, it shows that the owners take pride in their establishment, and the gents loos in this place are all of those things 😂 Not tried the food yet, but the neighbouring table ordered some delicious looking scran, and I've only heard good things!

I visited this evening with 8 friends. Absolutely love this pub, staff are so friendly, there were a lot of us having dinner, nothing was too much trouble. The food was delicious and a good choice, we live in the next town and I wish it was my local !! The band, The attention Seekers were playing in The Coachhouse alongside the pub, great pub, great food, great staff and fantastic boogie afterwards, couldn’t praise you more. Thank you

Fantastic pub with really good pub-food menu, all produced from scratch. Always has a good vibe and a favourite of the locals in Tring. Authentic decor just adds to the overall experience. Great outdoor area for sunny days.

Sunday dinner choices of lamb, beef, chicken, pork and nut roast. Great Yorkshires, plenty of gravy and, although extra cost, the cauliflower cheese was delicious. And the sticky toffee pudding scored 9.5/10 on my very strict scoring chart. Very friendly and attentive staff. Atmosphere marked down due to a very happy dog and a whinging child.

Amazing Spanish food , very authentic flavours and great setting . We can’t wait to be back !

Fantastic pub and so good that we’re already planning a return visit. We had the Paella Negro, which was delicious, and very generous size. Paired well with the excellent selection of beers, and so nice to be at pub that has such a range outside of the standard ones. Kids enjoyed a great burger and pasta dish, and the Patas Bravas were better than most we’ve had in Spain. Paired with a beautiful walk in the countryside, a visit to the white lion has the makings of an exceptional day

The food was superbly cooked and presented and the front of house team were knowledgeable, pleasant and efficient, in short everything you could hope for. Faultless in every respect, fine dining at pub prices, in a beautiful rural setting.

A great coffee, cake and brunch venue. Run by a super young team of staff. The high teas look fabulous.

I took my other half here for her birthday on her recommendation. Was very pleased with the service and food and hope to return! I booked an afternoon tea here and everything is homemade. The amazing sandwiches, sausage rolls, scones, coffee and even the orange juice. It’s freshly squeezed behind the bar in a juicer! Good sized portions served here, had to take a few bits home. Absolutely mindblowing coffee. One of the best cups I’ve had and I don’t say that lightly. Had to have a few! Service was impeccable. We were seated quickly, the food was all ready and prepared that morning and check backs were frequent for drink refills, packing to take food home etc. All in all, a great place to have a coffee, cake and maybe even afternoon tea like us.

Great cafe with a warm, friendly vibe! Sam, our waiter, was fantastic—super welcoming and helpful. The Full English and Full Hash breakfasts were both delicious, and the hot chocolate hit the spot. Loved the place and will definitely be back!

Such a great place, so glad we found it. The food is absolutely delicious. We had shrooms on toast and smoked salmon and scrambled eggs. Just perfect. Beautifully presented and so tasty. The bread for the toast was lovely too. Hot chocolate was creamy and delicious. Staff were great. Table service, a few tables outside on the pavement as well. Quirky decor inside. A couple of parking places on the road outside and just a short walk from a larger car park. Popular place and we could definitely see why. Thank you.

Amazing place! The food is fabulous. Loved listening to the reggae songs, sipping on their rum punch. My fave meals were the jerk mango pork belly bites and curry goat! The scotch egg was top notch too. Friendly service also! Worth the travel there and would definitely go back 🙌🏼

The service is truly top-notch — attentive, friendly, and genuinely caring. The staff went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed throughout the evening. We had the island bits, a variety of tapas dishes that were absolutely delicious! Every dish we tried was flavorful, fresh, and clearly prepared with attention to detail. It’s the kind of place where you can taste the passion in every bite. To top it all off, the live music added a perfect vibe, it tied everything together and made the entire experience feel even more special. Highly recommend The Goat Yard if you're looking great carribean food in the heart of Tring. excellent service, and a lovely setting to unwind.

I wanted to try somewhere different to celebrate my birthday this year…..well I succeeded!!! The place is small but perfectly formed! The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, the rum punch delicious and the food….wow! Yes, they ask for a £10 per seat deposit….in this climate I don’t think that’s unreasonable. So visit the yard or the boat and experience a taste sensation!!!!

Beautiful and very cozy Place for family or with friends! There is plenty of space for children to roam around and keep busy. Enjoyed sitting outside enjoying the chilled Gin and tonic. A good good choice of food and snacks, expensive but worth it! Farm shop is another thing that makes it visit it again. Lots of options and varieties of food not available in supermarkets. Will have to visit again for shopping and visit the Gin distillery which was closed on our visit. In a nutshell, a beautiful place to eat out and shopping and for walk in the nature at the same time.

Love this place. Delicious fresh food in a lovely setting with farm shop and Gin distillery next door. Best sarnie I have had in a long time. Packed full of carved ham & cheese. Hubby was once again in awe of the most delicious sausage roll. Lovely hot coffee too.

Utterly delicious afternoon tea today! Food was very obviously cooked in house as much of it was still warm when served. The savoury selection was brilliant and sweet treats delicious, but the strawberry roulade was AMAZING! Such great value for money too as there was lots left over to take home. I can't wait to come back! I also had their Croque Madame last week and it was lush!
