A nice log burning fire made the pub welcoming. Food we had was amazing, fish was the biggest portion we have seen,made with a very crispy batter. Scotch eggs as stater were great. Nice size portion for dessert. Will definitely visit again.

A lovely friendly country pub, manages to keep a traditional feel but offer a lovely modern menu with a few pub classics as well as some nice vegetarian options. Highly recommend!

Christmas dinner in a cosy warm environment with a great atmosphere. The food was top notch, sirloin cooked to perfection with all the usual trimmings 👌…. so good we came back Boxing Day 👍🏽 Would highly recommended if you’re in the area…. and if you’re not in the area it’s well worth the trip😁

We had the most amazing roast dinner in The Black Horse (I was please that there were several veggie options)! Outstanding service and a wonderful friendly atmosphere. It is our second visit to this pub and we will definitely be back soon!

Fantastic service, superb staff, all very helpful with our questions about menu food etc, Bertie in particular was great. The steak sharing platter blew us away and we can't wait to return.

We came here on the recommendation of a friend and we are so glad we did. Buntingford is very small so finding somewhere with this level of quality of food & service is unusual but very welcome. Essentially it's Tapas but not specifically Spanish. However the portions are bigger than your average Tapas so be careful with how much you order as you can always ask for more. All the dishes we tried were superb but in particular the Flat iron steak sharer was particularly good and very good value. In fact it was probably the best value on the menu as my only gripe and why I gave for stars, is because the prices of each dish are a little too much. Some are the cost of a main that you would find in another restaurant so it can get expensive. Overall though it's a great little find in a beautiful old building. The service from the staff was superb but in particular our main waitress Molly was one of the best servers I've encountered in a long while. Delicious food, great service. Wish we could have stayed longer but that's impossible with a toddler and a baby! They were very accommodating and welcoming which doesn't always happen when you turn up with children so it's brilliant to have found somewhere we can comfortably go was a whole family. Came here before Christmas as well for a girls' night out and the food and service was so good I knew I had to come back in the new year with my partner. Very glad I did!

Thank you so much to the Peppermill team for a wonderful mother's day. We were a group of 11 adults and two young children. The food and Service was amazing. Nothing was too much trouble, all our requests were dealt with a smile. All the mums on the table were given a giftbag with roses, chocolate and either a bottle of gin, sole gin and tonic, what a lovely thing to do. We hold all our family get-together there and that's been a few, never been disappointed. It's a real gem of a restaurant to visit, highly recommended. Thank you!

Cycling past on a hot Sunday morning. Very pretty village. Spotted some bikes parked up and a table and a Lovely tea room. Brilliant homemade cakes. Carrot cake rich, moist and large! Very happy. Friendly owner and staff. Good menu. Fair prices. Lots of character. Coffee could have been a bit stronger but regardless I would recommend a detour.

Exceptional! Wonderful tearoom in a tranquil village. Delicious homemade scones & cakes. Huge variety of leaf teas. Delightful terrace & friendly service. Looking forward to returning.

Had a wonderful lunch there last week. Food was amazing, had a duck salad, and the children's food was very high quality too. There's table service for ordering, and when busy- which is likely around peak times due to popularity, you'll get a buzzer so you can browse the extensive shop. The shop has a huge selection of premium foods both fresh and frozen ( the frozen in particularhas a wide selection of items that can be purchased by weight) and home items like candles & crockery. Added a photo of the food, will definitely be back again, and will book ahead next time.

Beautiful afternoon tea!! Great selection of food as I believe it’s a new menu. Also the farm shop is lovely, amazing selection of fruit and veg. Will definitely return!

Comfortable sittings and good breakfast options. The food quality is good. Coffee is serving hot and fast, but the taste is average. I recommend the breakfast, and they provide gluten-free toast. There are many vegetable options and own brand pale ale. Came back second time for early dinner with kids, the food is good. I enjoyed my burger and fish and chips - gluten free option is great too. Few options for gluten free dessert such as the toffee pudding is great.

I loved it here. The strawberries and raspberries were truly the best I've ever tasted. Absolutely delicious. The shop was beautifully set out, and I could have spent an absolute fortune in here. We bought food to take on a picnic. The meat and cheeses were also very delicious. There is also a very nice cafe/restaurant here which we didnt visit on this occasion. The toilets were clean and tidy I would definitely visit here again

Amazing Food. Plenty of options for Wheat Free, including simple adaptations to Menus. Really friendly Team that were the epitome of a Welcoming Environment. A really nice Evening was had.

Beautiful part of the country. We stayed over night as went to a family wedding. Rooms were warm and clean, and the bed was comfortable. Breakfast was superb. George, who worked at the bar and served our meal,was helpful and pleasant. Thank you, George

What a find! From the genuine welcome, the service, food and drinks were outstanding from the minute we arrived to the time we had to very reluctantly return home some days later. This rural pub, in the heart of great, peaceful countryside was ideal as a base for our hiking. Starting our daily walking from the pub rather than having to drive anywhere first is a big bonus. Cooked breakfast with a freshly ground coffee was the perfect start to the day. The faultless evening meals and desserts, along with a with a well-stocked bar, ensured the perfect ending. Great banter and engagement from the 'locals' and staff alike...this has to be one of the best places we've stayed. It takes a great team to ensure every element of the stay is excellent so a hearty well done to all them - a special shout out to Gina for being so welcoming and friendly for the entirety of our stay!

Enjoyed a delicious Sunday lunch, followed by a look around the museum next door. The pub has plenty of historic images and artefacts associated with the airfield. We flew in to Nuthampstead airfield and walked to the pub, it’s about a 10-15 min walk. Really grateful to the pub for putting me in touch with a local pilot who flies from the airfield as I hadn’t been able to speak to anyone through the usual channels beforehand to check a few details as it was my first time flying in.

Had a Sunday Lunch today with a family of sixteen. Lovely food and great service. The staff were very welcoming and they could not do enough for us. They gave us our own room upstairs, which was very personal. The staff were up and down the stairs all afternoon, making sure we had drinks and everything else we needed. I would thoroughly recommend The Brewery Tap for a meal, or even just a drink in one of their comfy armchairs in the downstairs area. Thanks to all the staff for a lovely afternoon and being so attentive.

Great family Sunday lunch. Luis the GM really made a fuss of us, all the food came out as ordered and was absolutely delicious with very generous portions. I had the roast beef which was perfectly cooked. Kids and grown ups alike all demolished their meals which considering we were a group of 16 was quite the achievement! Look forward to returning soon. It was just really lovely, food and service was great, The best crème brûlée I can remember, and apparently a new manager is leading the team. A really lovely evening looking forward to returning soon.

We went on Valentines night. Oscar & George looked after us above & beyond. The Oysters and Venison starters were amazing! We had the fillet of longhorn beef for mains…. Best steak we have had ever! We are proper foodies! The steak cut like butter & the flavour.. just wow! All that was needed that night was some more staff to help 2 incredible front of house superstars! You smashed it! Credit to you both.

I ate here last night with a friend. Table booked for 7pm, we arrived around 5 to 7. We were greeted with a warm welcome from the staff, seated immediately, given our menus and a few minutes to choose our drinks. The drinks arrived a couple of minutes afterwards along with poppadoms, dips and chutneys. Around 10 minutes after browsing the menus our orders were taken and the starters arrived roughly 15 minutes after that. We both had the mixed kebab which came out on a sizzler plate cooked to perfection, well seasoned and full of flavour. Roughly 10-15 minutes after we finished our starters our mains arrived (see pic) As you can see, we both enjoy our food. There was absolutely nothing wrong with the food whatsoever, and again all was cooked perfectly and beautifully flavoured! Overall, a very pleasant and tasty meal at The Viceroy. And contrary to other reviews on here and elsewhere on the Internet, the service was top notch. The staff were well presented, friendly and even came over to chat to us about our beards. The space between ordering eating and the next course was spot on. They also made sure we were good for drinks when they were getting low. The price was also very surprising - I was expecting a bill of £100-120 with the amount of food we had. But in total it was just under £85! To the staff that were on duty on the eve of 8/11/24 you are a credit to the business and should be extremely proud of your work. Big love - The two bearded gents!

Buntingford Hall Of Fame - This restaurant is a vibrant, welcoming Curry House with some of the best service and food going. Been coming here since I was 14, and 15 years on it is the only curry I crave. You NEED to try their food - dine in and relax!

We enjoyed the starters and curries very much. Thick and flavoursome sauces. Their naans are great, but I'd have added a bit of salt to them (not so noticeable when eating along with curry though). Staff was friendly and effective.

Lovely cafe i've had the full english several times. It's mostly excellent produce especially the delicious steaky bacon but the sausages unfortunately are the cheap frozen kind which on a £12 breakfast i'd expect a decent local one (maybe even use the Braughing brand up the road!)

Love this little coffee shop, but a little let down in my recent visit. The food is always really delicious but on this occasion my toast was cold and the butter was incredibly hard to spread, and my two poached eggs came fully cooked and hard, not runny at all. I didn’t want to send the food back though as they were busy and I do sympathise with that and don’t want to cause any grief. My pecan pie was delectable however, no faults there at all. Their drinks are superb, there’s always a generous amount of cream on the hot chocolates which is my go to drink, but my hot chocolate this time around was not hot enough for my liking and was missing an extra little chocolate garnish on the top which was part of the drink (it wasn’t a regular hot chocolate it was meant to be the special bueno style one). If I can drink the whole mug in under 2 minutes then it’s too mild in my opinion! ;) The staff are lovely but come across as overworked or tired and sometimes are very slow to greet customers or acknowledge them. I completely understand that it’s the busiest coffee shop in Buntingford, but you have to make customers feel welcomed and I felt a little bit unwelcome. My boyfriend was stood waiting to be served for about 5 minutes which was a bit silly. The ladies behind the counter - two of them were preoccupied with writing an order and the other making a coffee, all it takes is a quick “I’ll be with you in a moment” or “what are you after?” Just to get the ball rolling. I really love the mugs in there and the decor, but felt a bit snug at times. But once you’re sat it’s actually quite cosy, can get quite loud and overwhelming though when it’s busy. It’s nice to look out the window and watch the world go by. The door was left open which was letting in a bit of a draft so I had to sit with my jacket on which kind of sucked. Overall it’s lovely but just needs a touch of improvements here and there.

Stopped by recently and was rather impressed. Sadly but pleasingly what I wanted had sold out so I had the Ruben and a coffee, the two ladies behind the counter were lovely and I really appreciated them over estimating how long the food may take as when it arrived I was pleasantly surprised. When I’m back in the area it will be my coffee stop of choice.

Lovely landlady and welcoming staff. The renovation is amazing it feels really welcoming and warm and there is now a games room outside with a shuffleboard and darts.The pub is family friendly and dog friendly. The garden is really big and will be perfect for the summer with the euros on the big tv outside.

Popped in for a drink, football was on so it was a bit busy, but nothing too bad. Didn't get food so unfortunately can't rate that, but the Rivertown SIPA was good. A lot better beer options than other popular pubs in Buntingford.

A quick pint before my daughter's wedding. The bar staff were very helpful when the groom suffered a minor wardrobe malfunction! Very friendly and good service. I spotted a sign of the wall that could have been designed for the occasion! I should have just read it out instead of my speech.

Very welcoming friendly PUB with a great selection of Beers and drinks in general. The new management team have made a huge positive difference in such a short space of time. Izzy and Elizabeth are always very attentive and greet you with a smile. They’re 💯 dog friendly and have welcomed my new puppy with open arms. A pleasure to call it my local. The Bull is now a real asset to the town.
