Just had my hair cut and coloured by Lauren and she was amazing! It’s been a long time since I found a hairdresser who listened to what I wanted. I am SO glad that I saw Lauren’s info on Facebook and then had a consultation with her. I am really happy with my new style and I feel that I’ve gained some confidence with it. The colour is the best I’ve had in years. Lauren is so professional and lovely. I am so pleased to have found her! . 🤩

Today was my third back massage with Laura, and I have to say she is amazing! I have had numerous massages in the past but have come away feeling no benefit or really uncomfortable. I really struggle with my lower back but most therapists have concentrated on my upper back even though I have told them my problem area. I'm so glad to have found Laura, she takes note of what I say and adapts her massage to my individual needs rather than a general routine. For the first time, I am now re-booking regular appointments due to feeling like it's beneficial and worth while to me. (Plus she is so lovely!) I would 100% recommend.

Staff are so lovely. Welcoming, warm and friendly. The salon is hygienically and spotlessly clean. All staff wear masks and gloves. I have been going to this little fabulous salon for approximately a year. Never been disappointed and always very impressed, happy and feel good. Had quite a few treatments, nails, facials and waxing. Everything is explained in great detail about the treatment that's being provided, before, during and the aftercare. Very reassuring and you feel at ease. I love the rooms downstairs. Its a haven of tranquility, with heated treatment beds, fleece blankets, soothing relaxing music and ambient lighting. Just wanted to add to my review, the online shop is a fantastic new addition to The Little Retreat. Just used one of the hand masks, love how when you take it off, it reveals a hand cream has formed, for you to rub in. It's left my hands feeling really nourished & soft, a lovely treat after a hard week! Can't wait for them to re open! I have being going to The Retreat for a number of years now and have always been really happy with the service Tarnia & Cara are very professional in their work & are very friendly people. Tarnia has been fantastic during lockdown posting daily beauty advice & tips on Facebook she has also been selling for a small fee & delivering nail removal kits. I would definitely recommend The Little Retreat to anyone who is looking for beauty treatments & can highly recommend manicures & pedicures.

I called for an urgent installation of a new cooker, after my old gas hobs abandoned me. This was a non standard installation, because the cooker was a different size of the previous one and needed to fit between two units of my kitchen, which needed to be moved. I am very happy with the job - they have been responsive, organised, punctual and very reliable. I will definitely call them again in the future for small and big projects in my house!

I’m very pleased with the work Simon has done in my home, and I highly recommend his services. He initially did a tricky job in my bathroom that involved both joinery and plumbing. He quickly identified the causes of the issue, clearly explained the repairs needed, and followed this up with a written estimate. During the work, he kept me well informed and did a thorough job to a high standard. Needless to say, I had no hesitation in booking him for other jobs - he came up with a straightforward solution to sort out a damp issue and did a top job of fitting skirting boards. Whilst doing the work, he pointed out an issue that needed a gas fitter and helped with a contact. He is friendly, trustworthy and works very efficiently. Thank you very much Simon, I’ll be in touch with more jobs from my list!

Simon has installed an electric radiator in my elderly parents house. He gave us wonderful service and piece of mind. It was nice to know i could rely on Simon to provide such trustworthy service during these difficult times. He prioritised work ahead of other jobs due to their vulnerability, at his own doing without prompting. He is now fixing up their tired kitchen and no doubt will be able to assist further in the future. Tradesmen like this are hard to find, it's just a shame I can't keep him a secret !

Simon did a great job putting up a curtain pole for a heavy thermal door curtain. He is professional and friendly and made sure that I was happy with the job. He also did a short repair of a light fitting, which was very good of him, as I had not arranged this in advance. I'll definitely be asking Simon when it's time to start on that ever-increasing list of jobs that need attention.

Had my hair done by Izzy and had an absolutely wonderful experience at this salon. I’m disabled so I struggle with certain things but everyone here was more than happy to accommodate and even prompted me when I was too shy to ask for something. My hair came out absolutely beautiful but did fade rather fast, I contacted Izzy and she was more than happy to sort out my hair, she did this free of charge and now I have the hair of my dreams and I feel so much more confident. Thank you to everyone at Alta, I will be coming here from now on 💖

We had a number of small plumbing jobs after the New Year and contacted John. It was the first time we had used his services and found him very helpful, with a professional, no-nonsense approach to the jobs. Highly recommended- Matt responded promptly and visited us within a few days of being contacted for a quote. He was extremely helpful in giving his professional opinion as to the works required. Having been concerned that major works might be required, he was quick to allay my fears and talked through the most appropriate and cost effective options. I was pleasantly surprised when the quote arrived. I can’t recommend Matt enough for sorting out our leaking dorma roof. We came a cropper to a rogue trader 12mths ago and knew it was only a matter of time before it leaked again, especially with the recent bad weather. Matt was quick to respond to my message and visited and quoted for the job within a few days. We were really happy with the quote and based on his knowledge and reassuring nature, plus his fab reviews we went with Matt. We were not disappointed. Matt was able to get over in the earlier than expected part of the timescale suggested and did an excellent, professional job with extras and at an even better price than quoted! He and Alf were tidy, professional, friendly and very reassuring. We will definitely use Matt again, in fact we are for another internal job. Very happy folk of Broadbottom!

Mat has just fitted us with 14 beautiful new solid oak internal doors. His work is to such a high standard, even with some very difficult door frames he ensured each and every door is perfect. His work was efficient yet thorough, clean and tidy, and he saw the job through from start to finish - no hidden costs or leftover jobs for us to do. He’s such a helpful and personable chap, it’s been a pleasure to have him working in the house. Highly recommend Mat and his work, you know you’re getting top quality, proper workmanship for a very fair price. Cheers Mat!

Entering this pub is such a time warp as it is the quintessential traditional pub - it's great. Hidden in the back streets of Tintwhistle, it is an unassuming building, slightly shabby, but certainly worth a visit. When walking into this pub it is clear you are visiting an something very different; the ambience was nice & relaxed, the staff were lovely & friendly, but it is the layout and interior furniture that takes you back in time. It is gorgeous to see such eccentricity in a time of bland corporate chains. This is clearly an independent pub that has apparently stood for 500 years or more (so we were told). The food was good - several vegan options were available, which is great. Can't wait to visit again.

Excellent pub with great character, got some of the ale the had on tap, which was off. Brought this to the attention of the landlord and it was no problem he was off to change the barrel and pull through two good pints, exactly what you want to happen in that situation. The chips we got were also excellent. An ideal pub to go to on the way from Manchester to the Peak District.

Cannot recommend this place enough! The shop is clean and well run, with such a friendly atmosphere. I've had my nails done by Tayma, Chloe and Abi - all of them are fab, but I have to give a massive shout out to Abi, whose BIAB gels always last me at least 4 weeks without chipping or lifting! Her nail art is incredible too! Claire on the front desk is such a pleasure to deal with when booking and in the salon. I always look forward to my appointments with these lovely ladies - great service from genuinely lovely people.
