Top Cafes in Godstone, Surrey

We had a lovely weekend at the Chequertree Fishery. The lodges are basic but cozy and very close to the lake so comfortable for fishing. Great variety of fish and some big ones to be caught. Food at the café is good, the settings are picturesque and calm. Perfect for a family weekend away.

I have been going to this fisheries for many years now. I think the facilities are brilliant with a clubhouse and lodges. The lakes are large and lots of space to fish.

Bad points - there seems to be this lawless community of people that feel it’s acceptable to let their kids run riot around the lake. Running around from spot to spot, shouting to their friends who are on different lakes when they hook a fish and need a net to get it in. Also leaving fish laying on the side of the bank for ages before letting it back into the water. There needs to be some rules in place where children have to remain with their parents and not running around the lake shouting.

Lovely staff, very welcoming and accommodating, nice reasonably priced food and drinks, well looked after lakes and fish. A big variety of fish for you taste, including carp, tench, chubb, sturgeon and so on, definitely worth the money and a visit, think I've found my regular go to, can't praise it enough.

Best for fishing, best hospitality, best everything. Cannot find one fault with this establishment. 5* easily deserved!!!
