If a burial ground could ever be described as "romantic and beautiful" it surely has to be Watts Cemetery, the peace of which is disturbed only by the intrusive noise of traffic from the busy nearby A3 major road. Ancient sinking graves with faded family epitaphs lie midst random trees and mossy meandering paths, in contrast with more recent elegantly headstoned additions. Of course the magnificent Grade 2 listed terracotta Romanesque Revival themed chapel and memorial cloisters provide a huge attraction for thousands of admiring visitors.This is indeed a tranquil location with an almost mystical atmosphere in which to spend time wandering in thoughtful spiritual reflection!

What a beautiful setting and artistic achievement! The creativity, thoughtfulness and craft of this little gem made our day. The nearby artist village had a lovely café and fantastic arts shop. Lovely afternoon.

If you're looking for something unique, please don't miss this chapel, even if it's just 5minutes out of your day. Incredible architecture which is well explained inside the Chapel. Have always found the space unlocked to enjoy. We parked at the nearby Watts Gattery and took the short 5min walk there.
