Roots Lounge

Absolutely amazing staff, great chilled place. Excellent variety of shisha flavours 😍which shockingly lasted a long time, longer than any other shisha place I've been to in the U.K. WOULD DEFINITELY RECOMMEND IT!!

Edit 1: i have to been to this place few times after I gave this place 1 star. I have been taken care of very well and am now changing the review from 1 star to 5 stars. Please remain the same. Thank you. Worst experience with staff today. The lounge was empty with only our table and none else. When ordered fries, the gentleman asked me to order now whatever else I want to have as he might get busy with other customers which might come anytime or get busy with "making his own shisha". Anyhow, fries came after around 20 minutes. Then we asked for coal to be changed, which usually is changed within seconds to minutes at any shisha bar, but after chasing him in the kitchen thrice to change the same, he changed coals after around 20 minutes. When voiced that we are not liking the service, he said he was busy making his own shisha, why should we have fun only he should have too. 🤦🏼‍♂️

Shisha is brilliant as always! The owners have changed but are truely the best. Best shisha I have had. Every time the shisha is on point! And the staff are friendly and great customer service. Highly recommend. Great atmosphere and always a great place to chill by 1, 2 or a group. Has many areas of entertainment from music videos to footy matches to board & games. Lively on the weekend (Fridays & Saturdays) but truely a brilliant lounge to relax and enjoy the night. And food is pretty decent if I may so myself. Come to Roots for a great sesh, date nights or even a group event. Each flavour is awesome, smooth & refreshing. Truely the best shisha around, this place is vibe! Keep up the grand work Roots Team!

Regulary come here with the lads after work. We went looking around for a decent Shisha place for awhile and came across Roots. It's a fair journey for us to come here, however it is definitely worth the journey. Staff are extremely helpful and are always eager to make your stay as pleasant as it possibly can be. Music is good and the atmosphere is excellent as well. We will continue to come here as we have found the perfect Shisha place for us. Would 100% reccomend this place to anyone that may be curious about coming here.

Try this coffee, it’s so good! First found Busy Brewing whilst in Charlton Park at the Skate festival and enjoyed an Oat Milk Latte, so really loved finding them outside the Herbert the other day and finding out they’re going to be there permanently. Now I know where to go for great coffee all the time!

Jake brews really good coffee, I would rate as one of the best in London let alone shooters hill. His baked goods are next level good as well. Get there early to snag a cinnamon bun, they are the best in london, period.

A welcome addition to the Herbert Road area that has been crying out for a decent cup of coffee and is conveniently positioned outside the Lord Herbert pub so you can't miss it. The lovely Jake makes a fabulous latte and is very knowledgeable about his products, so great coffee and very reasonably priced too for the quality. The pastries are divine (especially the choc croissant) but be sure to get there early, as they sell out quickly. A real asset to SE18 🙂

House of Denna is the heart of the RA community for many people, including me. There's a wide range of events and workshops to choose from. Something for everyone. The food and coffee are great. Especially the cookies and the seasonal lattes. Love that it’s doggy friendly too.

Went in for a workshop and they went above and beyond to make us comfortable and they were so friendly. They seemed to really be enjoying themselves as well which made the whole experience that much better. It was an intimate group of people doing the workshop which made it feel special. Me and my partner made our wedding rings and we are thinking of going back with family and friends so they can have a great experience also. Highly recommended.

I recently visited House of Denna and had an amazing experience that I just have to share! The cozy ambiance and delicious menu caught my attention. From the moment I walked in, the environment was warm and welcoming, and the staff was incredibly attentive. The service went above and beyond to ensure I had everything I needed, from recommending the perfect coffee and pastry to checking in on how I was enjoying my meal. The friendly attitude and genuine care for customers made a huge difference in my experience. If you're looking for a local spot with great food, a lovely atmosphere, and fantastic service, especially if you are lucky to be looked after by Keira, then House of Denna is the place to be! I can’t wait to come back.

What a great place for a breakfast! We travel down from west Scotland this time every year to see family, staying in the Woolwich Arsenal area. Last year, a friend recommended the café and he was spot on, and we've been back this week. Simple fare done excellently (particularly the bacon!) with lovely staff and a friendly atmosphere. We'll be back next year and hopefully try some lunchtime meals. UPDATE - had lunch instead of breakfast on our final day. Just as delish! Dave and Samantha xx

Rating: 4.7 (199) Price Level:

3 of us visited this morning, we pre-booked but the place was very busy when we arrived. Seated quickly and orders taken. Food arrived quickly, looked and tasted fantastic. Their food caters for all, and they don't have any qualms changing or amending menu items. They have a tiny kitchen but the quality of food and drink they're producing here is very impressive. Would highly recommend paying them a visit, they're a great local business. We'll definitely be back!

This cafe is one of the few vegan friendly spots in the region, which is good. However, the options are quite limited, every time I go there I end up having the same thing, there is not much else for me to try. That being said, the vegan breakfast is delicious. I especially love their hash browns. The service is also nice and kind. The place is very dog friendly, which I also appreciate.

What a great find next to our home. We arrived at 1.30pm. The atmosphere was so lovely with blues jazz Amy Winehouse, Sting and Duffy playing. Really welcoming team. The food was delicious and portions really big. We had the smashed avocado feta and poached egg and the full pantry English. Absolutely fresh and full of Flavour. Will be the go to for any visitor staying with us. I had the iced decaf latte with caramel and they also do smoothies and fresh cakes on display.

Booked their private hire space for my 30th birthday and my guest and I had an amazing time. The manager was very attentive and answered all questions prior and on the day. His suggestion for my guests to preorder for day was genius! And in doing this all the food was out on time! The restaurant is beautiful and the food delicious. I truly believe it was worth the visit. After the disappointment of not passing my exam, I went there and was pleasantly surprised by how friendly the staff were. SALT Woolwich

15 Major Draper St, Royal Arsenal, London SE18 6GD, UK | Bar
P: 020 8316 4413

Rating: 4.6 (1027) Price Level:

Good atmosphere, there were games available for you to play while you were waiting for food or just to have a fun evening. They have a good selection of craft beer to choose from. The cocktail options were quite limited. The wing portion size was quite generous. We opted to go for the carne pizza, the base felt quite weak in my opinion but the pizza overall was quite delicious.

SALT is my favourite bar in the Royal Arsenal, and there are quite a few of them in the area. It’s not the cheapest place to go, but you will enjoy a wide selection of beers, including Salt’s own selection and a frequently changing rotation of guest beers, all of which a re unique and very tasty indeed (they will let you try before you buy, obviously). The food menu is pizza-based with snacky stuff and lots of choice. Although they fall slightly short of other stonebaked options available in town, the pizzas are really, really good for a pub; I personally recommend the Carne or the N’duja. All the food is delicious; I have tried most of the menu and have never been disappointed. The downstairs bar is quite small with very limited seating, and gets very busy in the evenings. There is a larger upstairs seating area (accessible only by stairs) where you can usually grab a table, and in the summer, there is an extensive terrace that is a glorious sun trap. Be aware that you cannot book unless it’s for larger events. There is also a toilet on site. A fantastic local craft beer bar and pizza restaurant; in short, it’s got everything you need, friendly staff and a wonderful location, both for residents of the Arsenal and for visitors to the area, being only a few minutes’ walk from Woolwich Station (Elizabeth Line), ten minutes from the DLR and train station, and very close to the bus stops on Plumstead Road (A206).

Rating: 4.5 (509) Price Level:

Busy local cafe. Large place with a lot of seats and a big menu. Staff are friendly but service is chaotic. The meals are huge portions and taste pretty decent for the low prices. The chicken curry was good and surprisingly hot but that’s what I like so no problems there. Main courses and drinks for two came to £25. Would happily return if hungry because it certainly fills a hole.

The staff are lovely here and on hand to help. The food came in a good time. The food portions are large. The mac and cheese and jacket potato came with a nice side salad.
