We were enthusiastically referred to High Rise by friends who had had extensive work done on their similarly aged 1850s house a few years ago and we were happy to have a known commodity. We originally planned to do works that the full structural survey had identified on 3 pitched roofs, 3 pent roofs & a flatish bit, plus a few corrections of a builder that didn’t share High Rise’s standards. The guys have been brilliant throughout the works; not only professional but very patient, especially when you consider that (through no fault of High Rise) 4 weeks work turned into over 4 months work! Every time we looked at one element of the planned works, we found truly awful historical structural abnormalities, botched builds & suspect repairs carried out by previous owners. The team said that the house, in their collective experience, was the worst they have ever seen and, as an Engineer of 35 years experience, I agreed. They have all been brilliant at explaining anything that I was unclear about, providing clear options with pros & cons and checking with me before doing anything. We all managed to get through it by seeing the whole roof debacle as ‘character building’, as they were also distressed about the frequency of having to tell me bad news. I would genuinely not have got through this without their support, humour, and professionalism! I would whole heartedly recommend High Rise to anyone who values quality work (preferably before you buy a house in lieu of a surveyor, with whom I shall be having words). I will miss them after such a long time working here and they all know that they’re welcome to pop in for a cuppa or some homemade preserves if they’re passing!
