The food is absolutely amazing!! I cannot recommend Chakana enough, I have been around 6 times or more now. Always fantastic, every time, and the menu is so interesting and it changes too!

I couldn’t recommend Chakana highly enough; it’s possibly the best restaurant in Moseley! The staff are incredibly friendly, the food is absolutely divine, and the presentation is always so captivating. If you’re looking for the best ceviche in town, this is the place to go. But it doesn’t stop there. Every dish on the menu is thoughtfully designed, expertly prepared, and from the very first bite, you can tell the food is exceptional. We came here on our first date two years ago, and we’ve kept coming back ever since. Whether it’s for a special birthday celebration or a casual meal, Chakana never fails to impress. This place has truly become our happy place; from the moment you’re greeted to the moment you leave, you know you’ll be well looked after, both in terms of the service and the food.

Beautiful restaurant in an old bank with luxurious feel. Great attention to detail and service from the whole team from the moment you step in the door. Amazing cocktails that are reasonable price for the creativity and quality. Great dishes with lots of flavour, colour and textures. Hope to be back for the tasting menu!

Excellent restaurant! Has won handful of awards and the chef is michelin starred, which increased our expectations.Amazingly met, the beef and chicken was tender, sea bream ceviche was so fresh, and the crab starter was so creamy! The quality of the ingredients were phenomenal, portions are generous too!! Even the starter ceviche I had a lot of the fish 😹 Erica is excellent in her service, we had a brief chat and she originally hails from Mexico. She was very knowledgeable about the dishes & was so friendly! Thank you!

Great place 😍 I can’t describe how much delicious the food was 😊😊😊 the quantity was little but the food was soooo yummy mashallah I felt bled vibes in every dish 🇩🇿. We ordered tajin hlou bastila ( chicken) bourak and kid meal (chips and nuggets) Plus one msemen I couldn’t resist 😝 We end it with beautiful Moroccan tea 🍵😊. Bill was 50£ very reasonable price for all what we ordered, the place decoration it’s another world 🌍 you like quick trip to North Africa 😘. Service not very friendly but professional and polite. Hygiene food restaurant room and tables 10/10 everything clean . I loved it and i definitely highly recommend it .

I went in today with my young kids, we all loved it! Cozy Moroccan deco, family friendly... The food was amazing, the tea too, as well as the cake! Will definitely come again!

Lovely place and great food! It was our first time at the Moroccan restaurant and we enjoyed every bit of it, starting with the moroccan tea, maakouda potato dumplings for starters, harira soup, vegan tajine and chicken kouftas. Highly recommended and we'll be back soon for more goodies 😀

We had the most amazing night at Mays last night celebrating my birthday. The food was incredible and service from staff couldn’t have been better. Specifically MJ he really went above and beyond with his attentiveness making sure we always had everything we needed and he really made it a special occasion. The head chef even kindly came out to give us some complimentary crackers whilst we waited for our food. We will definitely be going back to Mays and I can’t recommend this place enough! 100/10

We've been loyal customers of May's culinary creations for years, and her new Chinese restaurant is nothing short of spectacular! First day of opening and our first impression is that May’s has a warm atmosphere, friendly staff and tasty food. May was talking to everyone making them feel welcome. There was an influx of people as it was their opening and table service was slow towards the end (one desert never showed up after 45 mins and asking 3 times). Not sure they were quite prepared for the amount of people. Price was between £19-£22 for a main course. 11 & 13 year old enjoyed it. Would go back as imagine after the first day hiccups it’ll be faster service 😊

High quality Chinese & Japanese food in a modern setting, with attentive staff and a lovely owner, May, who genuinely cares; we’ve visited twice, and one our first visit she asked whether my tofu stir fry had enough food. I said I could’ve done with slightly more, and when we came back the portion size was significantly larger. Lots of good and interesting options, including good vege/vegan options. Would highly recommend.

Amazing customer service and lovely food. The vibe was to die for. The staff were friendly and welcoming. We had two starters and one main and it was more than enough for 2 people. Complimentary Turkish tea at the end of the meal just went really really well. Would HIGHLY recommend.

We were warmly welcomed in by a member of staff. She gave us enough time to sit and consider what we wanted before taking our order. She was accommodating in allowing us to switch out an item on the platter. They clearly know their regular customers as the lady identified this was our first visit and kindly automatically added a discount onto our final bill. The atmosphere was relaxing and family friendly. The food was well presented, and the portion sizes were reasonable. I would definitely recommend you give this place a go if you are looking for a friendly service Turkish night out.

Visited for lunch today. Location is on main road. Restaurant is decent size with plenty of seating. Restaurant is clean with traditional modern decor. We were seated straightaway by staff and handed a menu. The menu was clean and food items were simple and priced clearly. We ordered the platter. We were served the bread and sauces and the drunks together. After 20 minutes we were given the platter. The platter was a decent size for 2 or 3 people to eat. It was hot and tasty. The staff was friendly and courteous. After the meal, we were provided with the complimentary turkish tea and turkish delight. Both was good. Customer service was excellent by perry naz who served us. Value for money was affordable and quality was excellent. Highly recommended 👌 Parking is on main road or nearby. Thank you

Very effortlessly served subtle food that has a warming effect on the senses. Fatima brings the food with grace and a very pleasent manner which is a charming, refreshing experience in Moseley. The music swirls around the Cafe in tune with the food and decor. I would indeed encourage people to go there and be half in Morrocco / Labanese and the other in Moseley without stress.

Delicious mezze! Great value, filled us both up and incredible vine leaves. Also great tea and mango juice. 100% recommend and will be coming back! Lovely service too :))

This place is truly a hidden gem of Birmingham, nestled in a little spot of Moseley, this place does amazing food. Everything tastes amazing, the atmosphere is very relaxed and almost holiday like on a sunny day. The meat is amazing and tender, get plenty of sides, sauces and salad and a water despenser, a lot of places charge for water and you can have lots of water from the water despenser (which I've pictured) All in all 10/10 the prices are very very reasonable. Portion sizes are great and the food tasty.

The food was amazing and as a vegetarian it felt amazing to see the variety and amount of food options for vegetarians and vegans. Had a really lovely time.

Song was calming. I like quiet dining so this was a quiet and perfect Monday evening (8pm) experience for me. Service is a 4star because when I entered Noone was at the reception. I had to go find her in the kitchen area (only 1 person was working that night). The food came pretty fast. I didn't enjoy the jasmine tea as by the time it got strong, tea was already cold. Food is excellent. I enjoyed the pork texture and seasoning!!

Visited here with my dad and sister after reading great reviews. From start to finish, the service we received was excellent and the food was absolutely delicious! My sister is vegetarian and was very happy with the choices. Can’t wait to return again soon.

Went for Mother's Day and I was pleasantly surprised on how nice and fresh the food tasted. The mussels (in the tomato sauce) were delicious and tasted super fresh. I had the steak salad and the beef was seasoned perfectly cooked exactly as requested and the fries were the perfect ratio of crisp to fluffy. Would definitely recommend going for good authentic Italian food. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly offering to hang up our coats when we entered the restaurant.

Today I have ordered the frutti de mare pizza, the carbonara, and the pollo crema. The vegetables for the pollo crema had been smoked a little and then added salt, which makes it crunchy. As well as that, the sauce was very creamy and rich, adding good flavour for the dish. The frutti de mare pizza had fresh seafood (such as: prawns, mussels, and squid) and the flavour was medium, which is very good. The crust was crunchy and it was made fresh, not from the stores. The spaghetti was very creamy and the staff offered extra Parmesan. The bacon in it was very delicious, because of the sauce that was added to the dish. To summarise, I would recommend this restaurant to you.

Amazing experience! The food was delicious from starters to dessert. The atmosphere and decor was great and the manager was really friendly which made the difference to our dining experience. I really enjoyed this wonderful Moroccan restaurant. Each traditional tagine dish was delicious, the meat perfectly soft and moist. It melted in my mouth. This was the first Moroccan restaurant I have ever been too, and to be honest I was quite nervous about the whole new experience, but I needn’t have been. The starter me and my girlfriend ordered was completely vegetarian (usually not something I’d enjoy) and yet I enjoyed it immensely. Everyone in my group of five people agreed that their dish was excellent quality and no one had a single complaint about any part of the meal. I also felt that the food itself was very reasonably priced. Whilst I myself didn’t get a desert, everyone else did and no one was disappointed. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. If I was to find a criticism (and I am determined to do so) then it would be that they did not serve alcohol, however I am told that this is the tradition in Morocco as it is a Muslim country and therefore “dry”. Instead me and my girlfriend went to the nearby off-licence to buy some red wine and larger to have with our meal and the staff here instantly provided us with a bottle opener no questions asked. If anything then not serving alcohol just saved us a lot of money, as had we bought a bottle of wine from a regular restaurant it would surely have cost well over twice the price we paid for it. And so even my very minor critique is in fact, upon reflection, a money saving bonus. I shall be finding a Moroccan restaurant in Newcastle once we return home, and I do hope it is as good as here. Do bring your own alcohol if you wish to have some with your meal; but I assure you that you shall enjoy your dinner here. Highly recommend! 👍👍

We arrived during a busy period and were told that there would be a 45 minute wait for food which we were happy to wait. It was a little longer of a wait than that but we were very kindly given a bowl of delicious olives while we waited and then given two cocktails on the house which were equally tasty. This was a very thoughtful thing to do and was well appreciated. When the food did arrive, every plate was delicious with standouts being the scallops in garlic butter and king prawns in chilli and honey. Despite it being incredibly busy the gentleman who served us even went down to the basement to replace a bulb in the light next to us. It’s these acts of kindness which meant we were happy to leave a tip and will definitely be back to try other dishes and cocktails.

We went to La Plancha for my birthday last night . It was our first trip there and we certainly were not disappointed. There’s a wide selection of tapas. What we ordered was delicious. The portions are very generous so it’s extremely good value. The waitress on duty was excellent, very knowledgeable and attentive even though she was serving customers at the bar as well so a big thank you to her!! We would fully recommend and will be returning every time we are in Moseley.

If you’ve been out in Moseley, it’s highly likely you’ve been to the iconic Cuban Embassy (Bulls Head). It is the oldest pub in the village dating back to the 1700s. Now it’s a little slice of Havana serving up rum based cocktails and live cuban music each weekend 🇨🇺 🍹 💃🏽 We went on Saturday afternoon for bottomless brunch (2hrs). Choose bottomless Prosecco or Cuba Libres, two small plates and a side for £35 per person. We ordered: 🍔 Iberian Burger 🐟 Cod and Pepper Croquettes 🇪🇸Spanish Chorizo 🍗 Garlic Chicken Thighs 🍟 Sweet Potato Fries 🧄 Garlic Flatbread with cheese The food is provided by Santi’s Kitchen and we loved every bite 👌🏽 The garlic chicken thighs were sensational. We were mopping up every last ounce of the sauce with the garlic flatbread; we nearly wore a hole into the plate 😆 The cod and pepper croquettes were generously filled with fish, rather than filled out with potato. They were delicately seasoned so the fish could shine and we wanted a bucket full. The burger looked pretty basic, but then we took a bite…the Manchego was nutty and slightly sweet, perfectly complimenting the salty Serrano ham. It tasted homemade and authentic. It was quiet during our visit, so even though I hate the phrase because people are saying it about everything, I’m going to say it…the venue might be well known, but the brunch is a 💎 hidden gem 💎 It was fantastic for us too as Cuba Libres are a much more appealing option than sugary cocktails. They were also super accommodating and let my mum have vodka instead of rum ☺️ it’s the little touches. We were having such a lovely time we stayed for a few extra hours and enjoyed some banana daiquiris 🍌

Every time I'm in Mosley I really enjoy going there. It's really a nice spot. Classy live music has everything that you want. The alcohol selection is really good, especially the high-end really enjoy coming there. We'll definitely return

The bees knees. You need to experience a Friday and Saturday night upstairs with the band. Great vibe. Drinks excellent. Strong and not watered down like many establishments I've been to. It's worth the trip. They now have a Caribbean Carvery on a Sunday. That's excellent too, but it gets booked up quickly. Excellent Overall!!!
