Always greeted with a warm welcoming smile and genuine kindness, the staff here are awesome as is the owner, a really lovely chap. These guys really care about what they do and they care about their customers too.and this really shines through. The Gurkha Bar and Grill is a really lovely place to go for some great food or just a nice relaxed drink to watch live sport. The food is exceptional and whether it has been just me and the missus or with a friend group of 20 no one has ever been disappointed. The food is all freshly made to order, super tasty and arrives piping hot with everyone receiving their food together. Always plenty of staff at hand to make your visit a great one. I have no reservations in recommending this place, give it a go! You will definitely go back again and again.
My wife had a mixed grill (can't remember what it was called on the menu) and I had a King Prawn Masala. Both were absolutely excellent, and reasonably priced. There were four of us in total, and we had a main, two poppadoms, and two drinks each, and the bill came to £22 a person. The service was a little slow, but it was a very busy Saturday night. (We booked a table in advance, the place was full). The atmosphere is good, you can tell it used to be a pub but it has a certain charm because of it. Staff are very nice and boxed up the rest of my wife's grill that she didn't finish. (The portions are big!) Would definitely reccomend if you're in the mood for an Indian.
Fantastic world class food with an interesting menu! Not your average choice of curry and highly recommend the meat sizzling platters and manchurian noodles! Beautiful restaurant with excellent service, will definitely come again...
Popped into the Gurkha on a Thursday evening, nice and busy lots of food and drinks being served. The Gurkha is a Nepalese / Indian that serves mixys so not the standard Desi pub and outside of the usual desi triangle around J1 of the M5 Loads of drinks on the menu from a wide range of cocktails and beers. Cobra being the pint of choice due to no staropramen. We ordered a large mixed grill, boneless grill, onion bhajee, keema cheese naan, chilli wings and chilli chips. The grills, best bit was the fish pakora, loads of them, cod and nice light batter. The 2 tikkas were OK bit on the dry side so needed loads of chilli and mint sauce. Lamb chops, 2 of them on the large grill, quite small and tough. Sheesh tasty again needed sauce. Missing the prawns on the grill again this place isn’t a proper desi so giving them abit of slack. Keema cheese naan was really good but the best bit was the chilli wings, loads of sauce, nice and spicy, meat fell off the bone, definitely recommend! Chilli chips, pretty standard, missing the extra special battered ones you get at some places! Would definitely come here for a curry but much better mixys out there.
For Indians who know what Indian food is like and should be, expectations are usually high and this restaurant exceeded all expectations. Excellent food - perfect balance of taste and quality..and combined with a smiling service and good ambience, I would say this is by far the best Indian Restaurant my family has visited in a long time.. top marks and highly recommend this place to anyone 🙂
