This must be one of the best Italian restaurants in Hertfordshire. All of the staff are super friendly but also very efficient. Really great food in a lovely environment. Prices are reasonable for the quality of the food and drinks. This place exceeded my expectations. Slightly out of the way but definitely worth an Uber trip!

Always have the most amazing experience when we go to this restaurant! The service is unmatched, everyone is very attentive and they create such a relaxed atmosphere. The food is top notch, packed with flavour and just the right portions based on the richness of the food. The perfect place to celebrate a special occasion, or just to treat yourself! Our top tip is to book an earlier slot when the restaurant is a bit quieter as it fills up quite quickly from about 7pm.

Had a great meal there on my wedding anniversary. The food was brilliant but my favourite was the simple affogato dessert which was superb.

This was our first visit to L’Olivo and we will definitely be back. We had a fantastic meal, three courses from both the menu and the specials, with some great wine.

A truly delightful experience! The restaurant offers authentic Moroccan flavors, rich in aroma and taste. The service was warm, and the atmosphere made you feel like you were in the heart of Morocco. Definitely coming back!

Very tasty lunch menu, good value, and devoured by the whole family (3 young children). Special mention to tagine and the hummus. Friendly service, nice setting, wonderful aromas.

Great food. The lamb tagine was out of this world. The meat platter was really tasty as well and not dry at all. Friendly service and great sized portions. This place deserves to be recognised for an all round excellent experience.

I’ve visited this Moroccan restaurant multiple times over the past few days — and honestly, I’m so glad I did! I wanted to try as many dishes as possible, and every single one was absolutely delicious. From the rich, slow-cooked tagines to the light and fluffy couscous, every plate was packed with authentic Moroccan flavors and cooked to perfection. Each visit felt like a new culinary journey — the lamb tagine melted in my mouth, the chicken with preserved lemon was fragrant and tangy, and the vegetarian options were just as satisfying. I also explored their cocktail menu, and I have to say, the strawberry mojito was a highlight — fresh, fruity, and incredibly refreshing. It paired beautifully with the spices in the food and added a fun, summery twist to the experience. The staff remained incredibly welcoming and attentive every time I came in, making me feel like a regular after just a couple of visits. The cozy, authentic décor and relaxed atmosphere made it easy to settle in and enjoy each moment. This place has truly left a lasting impression. Great food, perfect spot, amazing service. Buffalo benedict is a must try (pictured) as are the loaded hash browns (pictured). Came on a sunny day and the outside area was really nice, plenty of space inside too. Really friendly and helpful staff, decent price for what you get.

I visited Hatch for the first time after hearing so many positive reviews, and it did not disappoint! The food, atmosphere, and customer service were all outstanding. The place was lively and family-friendly, with a staff that was attentive, polite, and welcoming. It's the perfect spot for a delicious brunch, and we left feeling completely satisfied. Even though it's a bit of a drive from where we live, I'd definitely return. St Albans town centre is also charming and vibrant. Highly recommend it – 100%! Thank you, Hatch!

Popped in here today after a recommendation and absolutely loved it! Food was creative and innovative, very tasty and warm! The ceasar salad was 10/10 highlight and the buffalo chicken burger was lush. Staff were the perfect level of attentive and helpful, very impressed. Only 4 stars for atmosphere as it was a little too loud in there for a conversation, but was a big building so as expected and the loos smelt a bit like pee pee! Can’t wait to return (for the food, not the pee pee loos) 😂✌🏼

A buzzing, busy place, with a bit of a wait on the Saturday we went, but the staff were very helpful and fair with the tables. Four of us had a lovely table outside. I had an English breakfast and a mocha, both good. Really helpful and kind people.

It was by chance that I found this restaurant on Google. I am pleased that I booked it for my birthday lunch with my husband. The moment I entered the restaurant, I immediately loved the Moroccan vibes. The waitress who served us was very friendly and welcoming. When I told her that I've booked a table, she mentioned my name for my reservation. I'm impressed that she is well aware of the booking. The food was absolutely delicious and desserts too. We'll definitely be back again to try the other dishes. I would recommend this restaurant if you appreciate the authentic taste and atmosphere.

Absolutely amazing experience. Food is so flavourful and fresh with authentic Moroccan vibe. We felt so cozy and warm immediately after entering the restaurant after an unexpected spring shower with a bit of chilly atmosphere outside. The service was amazing and the attentiveness of the server was also notable. They honestly suggested the main dish to be shared with two kids, which we otherwise over ordered. Great wine selection and desserts as well. We will come back to St Albabs just for this restaurant.

My friend and I had a really nice experience at this restaurant that we booked as part of our trip to St Albans. The staff were attentive and friendly! Food was fresh and tasted delicious, we throughly enjoyed the 6 mezze dishes and mint tea.

This new Turkish restaurant opened. My friends and I passed by the door and saw their food and cocktails. They were very attractive, so tonight we came to taste their food. First of all, the restaurant is very generous. After you finish eating, it will provide char-grilled bread with Turkish sauce as a treat. The starters are absolutely enough. In addition to cooking, they also have some salads for you to eat. The portions of food are larger than usual, which will definitely make you hold your belly and walk out feeling that the price of its cocktails is expensive. But when you know the weight of a glass of wine, you will understand Definitely worth the price of admission. I also strongly recommend friends who come to try the restaurant. The restaurant is beautifully decorated, the waiters are attentive, and most importantly, the autumn breeze system in the kitchen is very sufficient. You will not smell any barbecue smell when you sit there. With strong and rhythmic music, you can enjoy a wonderful evening here.

Since an amazing restaurant, the food is to die for, the service is great, very friendly. I would definitely recommend this, one of my favourite restaurants now and will definitely come back.

Went here for lunch and just wow, order the 2 course lunch deal. Grilled halloumi was lovely the garlic and Chilli sauce and bread that come with it is amazing. Chicken wrap was gorgeous. Atmosphere of the restaurant was stop on, loved the plates, the decor. Staff were lovely, very friendly and amazing that they joked about with us. Definitely a place to visit and will be going back.

This is an outstanding restaurant. I had the tasting menu at a 3 Michelin Star restaurant in Notting Hill 2 weeks ago and Thompson’s food is just as good and much, much better value. I can’t recommend it highly enough.

We had celebrated a belated valentine here with perfect choice. Wednesday have Jazz with piano was very relaxing. Food was very fresh and quality. If you are fish people very recommend,fish very fresh. Really impressed. Staff was very nice and friendly. Everything smooth as expected and very happy in the romantic time.

Really pleasantly surprised by this restaurant! Chicken schnitzel was really juicy - all the plates were good. It is like going back in time in terms of decor and service, in a good way! The only criticism is that it was super quiet which does affect the ambience but otherwise will be happy to go back.

I've loved coming to Lussmanns over the years, so as one of the restaurants in St Albans with private rooms, decided to book our post-wedding meal here. We had the upstairs room for 17 guests, and with the party menu it was very good value. The food was beautiful and there were options for everyone. The team were also very helpful in letting us drop off table decorations the day before, and laying them out for us in advance. Everyone was very friendly and attentive - I'd definitely recommend Lussmanns for an event or meal any time.

It took a little while for us and the couple in front to be acknowledged and subsequently seated but the staff were then friendly and efficient. We appreciated being given water straight away and our drink orders were taken promptly. The wine we chose was very good and the kipper pate starter was great. For our mains we chose the Featherblade of Beef and the Hake with side orders of vegetables. Both were delicious & couldn’t be faulted. For dessert we opted for the carpaccio of pineapple and the apple crumble. The crumble was particularly amazing. The attentive service died off at this stage and we struggled to find someone to take our Baileys coffee order. When the coffees arrived they were barely tepid in temperature, so not great at all. Just about drinkable. We would have requested hotter ones but couldn’t be bothered to try to find someone to assist at that point. Finally it took another while to be able to request the bill, which took the shine off the evening a little. If it hadn’t been for the drop off in service and tepid coffees it would have been outstanding.

Actually was a really quality night. Reasonable price drinks, Good tunes from Chris. Everyone friendly and no hassle anywhere. Lovely to discover my new local is a good one. I will go again. Needs a few more punters to make.it lively. But it was an awful night poring with rain. Not a bad turnout considering.

Came for a roast on Mother’s Day with my parents and dog. When we asked if the dog was allowed, they immediately asked if he wanted a water bowl and dog biscuit. All the food was amazing, all the meats were well cooked and service was friendly, attentive and accommodating. They even gave my mum a card and a voucher as a Mother’s Day gift. Also very cheap, would highly recommend

I've been here on a few occasions to complete my work on site.. Peter is always very hospitable, the pub looks great... Very clean and comfortable. I will have to add some photos next time I visit.. The pool table was being refelted today so ready if anyone fancies a game 🎱 Thank you Pete for accommodating my early visit... It's always appreciated 👍

Excellent choice of venue. A group of eleven of us dined here. Very good selection of mains and starters from the menu, plus a great selection of chef's specials. I went for the sea vass fillet with a creamy mushroom sauce, plus vegetables on the side. Highly recommend this venue. Everyone was very happy with Carmelo's.

It's not only the best Italian but in my opinion the best restaurant in St Albans. There is a reason it's always fully booked. Everything I've ever had off the menu is absolutely delicious. Wine and cocktails are fantastic too. The staff are so attentive and Albert is brilliant. This is my go to restaurant outside of London and I have never been disappointed. Thank you Per Tutti!

Had lunch with my sister. Usually go to the one in Berkhamsted. The decor is just as beautiful and food same excellent quality. Service was amazing. Staff very polite and helpful. My favourite main is the Lobster Ravioli - would recommend this dish for everyone to try. We both had the same! For starters we had the Funghi Trifolati (it is a beautiful mushroom starter sautéd with garlic and then finished off with cream and cheese served on sourdough toasted bread) and Garlic Pizza Bread with Mozzarella. Lovely atmosphere! Will be heading back there soon. Thank you!

What a great place to have lunch. The team here are attentive, friendly and welcoming. We were so happy with the way they could accommodate us with our 1 year son, bringing the food promptly. Our meals were hot, fresh and delicious.

First time visiting for lunch with my family, who had just arrived after a 14-hour flight. We arrived 15 minutes early and were seated quickly. Staff were very attentive, especially helping us order due to my toddler’s cow’s milk allergy, which is tricky with Italian food. The food was delicious — pasta was cooked perfectly, and the risotto was outstanding. Some dishes were a bit spicy for my family, who aren’t used to spicy food. Desserts were lovely too; the tiramisu had a lighter coffee flavour than we’re used to, but still very enjoyable. Only downside: the wait for the main courses was quite long (about 45–50 minutes), and with a 1.5-hour dining limit, it felt rushed. Would be better if desserts could be ordered together with the mains. Overall, a great meal with friendly service
