Reviews
The food is very good. Started with their mint chutney , very fresh and authentic. Had lamb chukka , chilli chicken , prawn , and malai tikka for starters and it was so good we repeated the same when our friends arrived. Good service and great food.
We recently dined at Grand Cholas for the first time, and we were thoroughly impressed. The service was exceptional, and the food was truly delicious. I highly recommend this restaurant for anyone looking to enjoy authentic Indian cuisine.
Located in the heart of St Albans, Grand Cholas offers a great South Indian dining experience with a vibrant menu and warm ambiance. It’s a great spot for both family dinners and romantic evenings. We began with the Basket Papadum and Chutney, a crisp, flavourful start. The Amritsari Fish was golden-fried and perfectly spiced, while the Chicken Lollipop delivered juicy heat in every bite. The Tandoori Salmon Tikka, cooked to perfection in the tandoor, offered a smoky, melt-in-the-mouth experience. Vegetarian options shine as well. The Chilli Paneer and Gobi Manchurian both impress with bold Indo-Chinese flavours. For something richer, the Nawabi Kofta and Kadai Paneer provide hearty comfort with creamy and robust gravies. Non-veg mains like the Chicken Kori Gassi — a coastal coconut curry — and the fiery Laal Maas stand out for their authenticity. The Kadai Jhinga and Malabar Prawn Curry showcase fresh seafood in aromatic South Indian sauces. The drinks list is another highlight. Classic cocktails such as the Old Fashioned, Espresso Martini, and Margaritas are well-executed. Their signature cocktails, created by a seasoned mixologist with 5-star hotel experience, include the Tropical Kiwi, Raspberry Crisp, and Peachy Cran — each vibrant and unique. Verdict: A flavourful tasty South India cuisines with modern flair, excellent service, and a drinks menu that truly elevates the experience.
After years of searching for a good Indian restaurant in the area, we are so happy to have finally found this gem! We have dined in once and also ordered takeaway both experiences were excellent. During our visit, we tried Chicken Lollipop, Chilli Chicken, Paneer Tikka, Cheese Naan, Butter Chicken Masala, Chicken Biryani, Masala Dosai, Cheese Dosai, and Prawn Milagu Varuval, finishing off with a delicious Rasamalai. Every single dish was packed with flavor, perfectly cooked, and authentically Indian. The ambience of the restaurant is warm and inviting, and the staff were friendly and attentive. They also kindly adjusted the spice levels to suit our preferences, which we really appreciated. The takeaway was just as impressive, well-packed, still hot, and delivered promptly. Highly recommend this place for anyone craving delicious, well-made Indian food with great service and a wide menu. Looking forward to going back soon.
