The Best Golf Courses in Hatfield, Hertfordshire, United Kingdom (2025)

One of my favourite courses. Well kept greens and fairways. Very fast greens when we played in August which made it very challenging. Beautiful scenery on both new and old courses. Good well stocked bar and full menu for breakfast lunch and dinner. We play here once a year for a Society Day but made an effort to have a warm up game as such a lovely place. Staff are friendly throughout the club. Now after over a year the sauna and baths are open again. Golf shop has a nice choice of golfing goods.

Can’t recommend Essendon Country Club enough. We had our wedding day 03.05.2025 and I will never forgot it! Everyone said how beautiful the venue was. The whole team at Essendon are extremely helpful and communication was amazing! I can’t thank Jo and Fiona enough for everything they helped us with and answering all our questions. We wish we could do it all over again. The farm house is beautiful and was definitely a must to avoid any stress the morning of the wedding! Essendon set our wedding up for us and it was exactly how I wanted. Thank you so so much again!! Bonnie & Lee xx

We recently had our wedding at Essendon Country Club, and we truly couldn’t be happier with our experience. From start to finish, the day was absolutely perfect – it was everything we had dreamed of and more. The team went above and beyond to make sure everything ran smoothly, and their attention to detail made all the difference. The food was absolutely delicious – we’re still getting compliments from our guests who had a fabulous time and haven’t stopped talking about how amazing the day was. The setting was beautiful, the atmosphere warm and welcoming, and the staff were exceptional throughout. We are so grateful to have chosen Essendon CC for our special day – it really was the best day of our lives. We will never forget our trips in the golf buggy and the laughs we had along the way! Jo and Fiona we owe you more than words can ever say, you were nothing short of amazing throughout the planning and execution of our wedding day! Thank you again for making it so memorable!

Visitors for the first time. Played the Old Course which was great - testing holes, well maintained greens, beautiful surroundings. Staff very welcoming and accommodating, made to feel very welcome. Will definitely be back with more friends to play again. Highly recommended.

Verulam Golf Course was an excellent choice for our society golf day! The course was well-maintained, and the scenery was great. The facilities were top-notch, and the staff were friendly and accommodating. Special thanks to Nick for his help in making the day run smoothly. His assistance was invaluable, and we really appreciated his expertise. Would definitely recommend Verulam for golf days.

Great course. Very well kept all round from beautiful fairways to carpet like greens. Beautiful views and lovely established trees. Whilst enjoying a game of golf like walking in a country park. Only 3 par 5s and 3 par 3s but some of the par 4s are long and tricky. Some unusual tee boxes which adds to the challenge. Club house is nice and makes you realise just how old this course is and the prestigious history. Bar has good choice of spirits, draft and bottled beers. Friendly and helpful staff throughout from Bar to pro shop. Pro shop is small but has a good selection of clothes and equipment. Buggies and electric trolleys for hire. Looking forward to playing here again soon!

Very nice golf , perfect green, nice pro-shop.

I was really quite surprised with the location of this course. I traveled through a really busy Watford town center, turned a couple of corners and then find the course tucked behind a residential estate. However having arrived at the clubhouse it feels miles from anywhere, and was really quiet to play on. The club house was really clean and well maintained. Following the path around behind the club towards the pro shop and first tee you pass a really expansive putting green and a smaller chipping area. I played using a discount voucher so thought it great value but I'm not sure if the standard pay and play fee is such a good deal. I arrived a bit late so didn't have time to use the practice range but managed to hit a few balls in the practice nets before having a quick putt. The putting green gave a good indication of the greens in general and although they were a bit slower than I'm used to they were true with and in good condition providing a consistent roll. The course itself is a friendly parkland course with pretty much all the holes playing as you see them with not too many challenges. The whole course is tree lined with some scrub in places causing the odd lost ball. The fairways are actually all pretty wide and were in a great condition (and just for a change i managed to hit most of them!). As for the greens they were all fairly friendly with not too many challenging pin placements or horrible breaks to contend with. The best hole for me was the short par 4 8th which runs down hill towards a dip on the left with trees on the right. Not being a big hitter it gave me a nice lay up approach wood for a pitch onto the green. The only hole to let the course down was the 16th which is a par 3 playing a blind shot down to a cratered green over a well placed marker. It has a very generous landing area and despite having shot my approach well right of target, I was still left with a greenside pitch onto the putting surface having expected to be in the rough. Overall a very nice course not overly challenging. Probably the best thing was at the end of the day having finished and being able to see the members and juniors making the most of the practice area. Clearly a family friendly club with good facilities and a course that would suit most golfers and as of this moment in great condition.

Fantastic venue for a golf event, two fabulous courses, of course hotel and all the facilities you would expect at an old house.

Palmerston Golf Course @ Brockett Hall provided us with a well manicured and a picturesque setting. The undulating and changing landscape provided us lots of fun and excitement during our game which we chose to walk. Highly recommended. Great course and country estate location only half an hour’s drive from north London

Brilliant course we'll maintained friendly staff and a well stocked half way house ran by Julie who makes incredible brownies 😋, will definitely go back next year. The club house is very welcoming and the three course meal we had was excellent.

A beautiful course with lots of interesting Holes. The Fairways are wide and well kept as are all the greens. Some of the greens are difficult to read as they have slopes and undulations. I really enjoyed playing the course on the 1st of July

Course was in brilliant condition and is a challenging yet enjoyable round. Prices of consumables were very fair and the staff were in general helpful and polite. The course was let down by the Marshall on duty. BE WARNED, my group went round in 3:45 today. We were told three times we were too slow, despite being right up to the members in front of us. Interestingly enough, once these members had finished on hole 9, we weren’t spoken to again, seems it wasn’t us holding people up?

I have been many times for lunch or dinner and its always fantastic. Brilliant food and great service. The best restaurant in the area, great views, very friendly staff and its a lovely place to relax for a couple of hours.

Afternoon Tea. Great service, great food, great venue! For a 21st birthday celebration. Only 4 of us but it was lovely. A glass of bubbly and an extra dessert for the birthday boy and two of the staff came and sang happy birthday with us. The selection of teas was brilliant. Answered all questions. Extremely friendly people. Would highly recommend and well done Centurion for having such lovely staff. Well worth the visit!

Had my 60th birthday celebrations here, and it was an unforgettable experience. Facilities and food excellent, the staff attentive without being intrusive. Would happily have another landmark occasion here!

Fantastic food and service today. Table of 7 celebrating Mother's day. Venue is lovely, great setting and great suite layout and decor. Table layout was fab, with gifts for the Mums etc. We will be back :) Staff very friendly and attentive. No rush to vacate. Fantastic time all round. Well done to everyone.

Attended a Wedding Fayre. Offered a set of 4 packages to choose from. Event planner was knowledgeable, professional and helpful. Grounds looked nice and well kept. Good choice of areas on site for wedding photos. Location is quite remote, but fairly easy to find.

We recently held a lunch party here with the carvery, fantastic food and service. All our guests loved it.

Superb practice facility. 12 bays, with new srixon balls, 2 huge greens for chipping and pitching. Top quality bunkers around both greens. You can become a member of Brocket Hall or just be a member of the academy, either way it is members only.

Fantastic view, it melts my heart! Highly recommend!

Still one of the best Hertfordshire courses. Played the Melbourne and in surprisingly good condition.

Absolutely brilliant venue. Nice and clean. Brilliant staff helpful. Food was amazing. Wheelchair and Disability access. Toilet facility available. Ample Parking facility available with extra parking spaces. Members only golf club unfortunately. Architecture and decor was superb and kept so neat and tidy with history of the building.

I went for a mendi party. Place was easy to find, and there was plenty of parking available. Light food and drinks were served in the various function rooms.

Had a fantastic time playing the High Course. The fairways and greens were in decent condition and the pace of play was smooth. Big thanks to Ben who went above and beyond - my last minute booking was handled efficiently and he also gave me a tour of the beautiful clubhouse. Looking forward to coming back to play the West Course next time.

We celebrated a work do here, and it was truly unforgettable. The manicured grounds are nothing short of spectacular—perfect for photos or a leisurely stroll between events. Inside, the interior is elegant and thoughtfully designed, striking the ideal balance between grandeur and warmth. And the food was simply outstanding: each dish was beautifully presented and bursting with flavor. Overall, Moor Park delivered an exceptional experience from start to finish.

Great course! Good layout. Except the 3rd hole maybe. Half way house was very reasonable and good quality. Had a good time!

Had a great day out at WGCGC staff were very friendly and helpful, as were all the club members we met.course is in very good condition especially after the wet weather of the winter, challenging course with some beautiful views not the flattest to say the least but very enjoyable

Great course for all playing abilities. It’s well run and the course is always in great condition. Played as a junior member and still come back to visit and play.
