The Best Golf Courses in Hitchin, Hertfordshire, United Kingdom (2025)

Visited Bedfordshire golf yesterday. We were playing them as part of our seniors matches. I was amazed at the great revamp they have done to the men's locker room and clubhouse. The golf course was in great condition as well. Food was good as well.

The best place for relaxing and meet friends. Perfect golf course for professional golfers and for beginners. 18 holes & 9 holes courses, driving range, pro-shop, restaurant with delicious food and drinks. Highly recommend for all golfers.

Lovely place to come for golf and only 5 mins from my shop. Perfect for lunchtimes at the range and many of my customers are members here too. Highly recommend

Afternoon Tea. Great service, great food, great venue! For a 21st birthday celebration. Only 4 of us but it was lovely. A glass of bubbly and an extra dessert for the birthday boy and two of the staff came and sang happy birthday with us. The selection of teas was brilliant. Answered all questions. Extremely friendly people. Would highly recommend and well done Centurion for having such lovely staff. Well worth the visit!

My first time at the venue. Having left a nearby crematorium we head d here to cel beaten the death of a good family friend. Greeted at a h door by a young lady we were warmly welcomed. Hot coffee followed by some good food. For such an occasion this is wonderful venue. A golf course with wonderful food. There is also a good restaurant on site that we will visit in the future.

I joined the club back in April and after two months I can confidently say that I look forward to being a member for many many years to come. The courses are both incredible, really well laid out and very well kept. The courses are both quite challenging but really quite beautiful to walk around and there is always plenty of wildlife to spot! The clubhouse is a lovely building that's rather spacious and seating inside and outside is plentiful. The food is great, the chips are literally perfect (real crispy and golden on the outside but still fluffy in the middle!) and the JOG burger is a great all rounder. Pints are pretty cheap compared to other bars/pubs in the area too (none of this £5 a pint nonsense). The management are very helpful and send out weekly updates on competitions, how the club is developing and it's great to be able to see the continuous improvements made over the last months (and with more in the works). Would happily recommend to anyone! PS: Try the dirty fries!

Top quality golf courses make for a great day out. Welcoming staff and good choice of reasonably priced food. Well worth a visit.

Mother's day high tea.special day none members were allowed to use the dining facilities.exellent food ,catered for my wife and myself being none meat eaters .sat outside overlooking the greens after lunch what a view . recommended 👍

We attended for a function (memorial celebration) and I was really impressed. The staff were helpful, the room well laid out and there was a microphone provided for the speeches. Food/drinks were very nice with a constant supply of hot tea/coffee and vegan and vegetarian options available

Was fortunate enough to be invited as a members guest. The moment I walked into the pro shop I was made to feel welcome. The staff are a credit to the club, mentions of Glenn and Taylor. The course played fair, again the staff made my experience.

I recently visited Harpenden Golf Club and had the pleasure of enjoying their carvery lunch, which was an absolute treat. As a private members club, they offer great value with a choice of three meats—turkey, beef, and lamb—along with all the classic sides, including a huge Yorkshire pudding. The roast dinner was fantastic, perfectly cooked, and incredibly satisfying. To top it off, the dessert trolley was a highlight, offering a delightful variety of cakes, including a delicious crumbled apple tart with custard. The dining room itself provides a beautiful view of the golf course, making for a relaxing and pleasant atmosphere. Highly recommend it for anyone looking for a delicious, reasonably priced meal in a lovely setting.

I was invited to be a guest and i must say what a beautiful course. Every aspect of the course was perfect. I played the following day at another course and the difference was so noticeable. After putting on greens at Hammonds End where you are spoilt with perfect greens you begin to realise how well maintained the course at Harpenden is. Would highly recommend that if you get the opportunity to play at Hammonds End Harpenden you take it, you won’t be sorry. I would love to join this club, it has what i say the old values, which are sadly missing from most clubs now days. Thank you for a great day

I've been going here with a breakfast club twice a month for 2 years. The menu is imaginative and the food excellent and great value for money. All served by friendly and efficient staff. It's a great venue. My wife's lunch group went there today and she echos my comments

New course opened up and in fantastic condition. Challenging for every standard of golfer which is just what you need to develop a great club. Not a member but made to feel like one very helpful staff etc. Had a great day out thanks.

My Mum had her 40th Birthday party here in the private function room. It was so good, the food was awesome, great selection of hot buffet and they even catered for my gluten free food. Carla was so kind and helpful. We had an awesome night and will defo go back again for the restaurant and future parties. Top venue

Good breakfast this morning. I had the smashed avocado on sourdough toast with poached eggs. The toast crust was impossible to cut unfortunately and the tea was tasteless. The service was excellent.

Ran a society day, from start to finish from Ben and the team were amazing and so accommodating. Food was amazing (steak and ale pie) as was the course and hospitality. Would 100% recommend to Societies

Played there today as part of an organisers day. Played many times before but this day was outstanding. Couldn’t have been welcomed more and nothing was too much trouble. The course was in excellent condition considering we’d have days of rain. It’s a challenging play and enough to keep you interested. The staff looked after us exceedingly well (especially Ben) from start to end, whereby we had a delicious dinner to finish. Very positive experience. Give it a go 👍🏻

Had a wonderful experience at Redbourn on Saturday having not been there for years. The range is amazing now! The guys in the shop were so kind and lent my 5 year old some clubs to use. Paula in the resteraunt still there and lovely as I remember! I can’t wait to return a lot more regularly!

A fantastic course. Impeccable greens, well kept fairways with decent tees, plus nice sand in the bunkers. A nice setup for all the holes with good challenges, but nothing too difficult. So great for most level of golfers. I wouldn't recommend getting buggies though as they must remain on the cart path. In some ways that's good as it keeps the fairways in good nick, however, there can be more walking and time spent to get the right club. The service was brilliant from conversations with Tom who dealt with all my groups needs and making it perfect for the day, with Alice who looked after all of us brilliantly. There was a lot of nice little touches - with individual gold name tags for our bags, a lovely pouch with The Grove tees and pitch repair. Alice made sure my cakes were cut up and ready at the halfway house before hole 10, and took a load of nice pictures of us on the first tee. Really impressed with the overall experience with a big Thank You to Tom and Alice who made my 50th really unforgettable.

Nice open course, not too difficult, greens are fast, course is beautifully kept. Not too many hazards, and generally open fairways. Great facilities at the club. Very expensive to play though

One of the best kept course I have visited and played. The staff were very helpful and friendly and the entire course was fantastic. The greens were perfect, the rough wasn’t too rough and the fairways in better condition than a lot of other courses putting greens! Sausage bap was top notch as well. Highly recommend

It's a must. The staff were fantastic the reception I got was out of this world from start to finish. Other than the 22 mile per hour winds we had to play in. The course was fantastic. Also after your game. They're clean your clubs shoes. Various other things it was just amazing. Thank you to the Grove and all the staff it was amazing experience. And we'll definitely. Will be coming. again.

I love the Letchworth Par 3. I’m terrible at golf but the relaxed atmosphere makes it a really enjoyable place to spend a few hours with friends. An added benefit is that there is a course cat who comes to support!

I’m not a “golfer” but enjoy a game here with my kids every now and then. Its relaxed and very welcoming and nine holes is enough without being tiresome. Its also very pretty and easy to get to.

I played this course as part of an away fixture. The first time that I've played the course and was really pleasantly surprised. The club house is an extended manor house with a very modern dining and patio area behind the main entrance. The practice area is pretty good with separate nets, putting green, chipping area and grass range. The only down side was, that because it is corporate owned i presume, that there was a function going on which meant the place was packed and we had to park adjacent to the grass range, leaving numerous cars in danger of an errant golf ball from there. The course itself is a tree lined parkland course with some really nice holes. There is enough elevation throughout the course to make for some great views but it does mean that you are playing a couple of blind approach shots. The course was in great condition. The fairways had really good coverage, the greens were of a good standard with a consistent roll and had enough slope on them to make for some challenging putts. The trees around the course provide some testing drives but with plenty of space further out for longer hitters. A couple of nice dog leg holes require accurate tee shots with challenging approaches. The final hole is a good looking par 3 up hill, with a view into the patio area. The members were friendly and the food was good. There were parts of the course that were still a little damp but there is a fair amount of water in the way of pond or streams to add further challenges into your round so not that surprising. Overall well worth a visit but it definitely should be played off the back tees to get the most out of your time there.

We held a small family party (low key) at Brickendon Grange. It is a lovely building in well kept grounds. The staff were very efficient and attentive. They decorated the table for us beautifully and clearly had spent some time doing this. We were in the Oak Room, which was very suitable for 19 of us to be seated comfortably. The food was lovely (vegetarians catered for). Cannot fault it .

Welcoming pro-shop & bar staff. The food was very enjoyable- I had the daily special - and the cake nice too. Out to play this well laid out and looked after course. It’s interesting and challenging. The fairways well defined and the greens were very true although slow because of the rain and recent sanding. The course is quite hilly which makes for variety of elevations. The train line and motorway, more so the latter, do provide a background noise that is a little distracting but never enough to suggest that you don’t go and try this. I’m sure that you will have a very good experience.

Nice place with all you need, good golf course, good clubhouse and a really nice practice facilities. If your looking to join anywhere in the area I think it ticks all the boxes. Looks like a great members club from what I saw,I was just a visitor and felt very welcome.
