The Best Golf Courses in Bovingdon, Hertfordshire, United Kingdom (2025)

I played this course as part of an away fixture. The first time that I've played the course and was really pleasantly surprised. The club house is an extended manor house with a very modern dining and patio area behind the main entrance. The practice area is pretty good with separate nets, putting green, chipping area and grass range. The only down side was, that because it is corporate owned i presume, that there was a function going on which meant the place was packed and we had to park adjacent to the grass range, leaving numerous cars in danger of an errant golf ball from there. The course itself is a tree lined parkland course with some really nice holes. There is enough elevation throughout the course to make for some great views but it does mean that you are playing a couple of blind approach shots. The course was in great condition. The fairways had really good coverage, the greens were of a good standard with a consistent roll and had enough slope on them to make for some challenging putts. The trees around the course provide some testing drives but with plenty of space further out for longer hitters. A couple of nice dog leg holes require accurate tee shots with challenging approaches. The final hole is a good looking par 3 up hill, with a view into the patio area. The members were friendly and the food was good. There were parts of the course that were still a little damp but there is a fair amount of water in the way of pond or streams to add further challenges into your round so not that surprising. Overall well worth a visit but it definitely should be played off the back tees to get the most out of your time there.

We held a small family party (low key) at Brickendon Grange. It is a lovely building in well kept grounds. The staff were very efficient and attentive. They decorated the table for us beautifully and clearly had spent some time doing this. We were in the Oak Room, which was very suitable for 19 of us to be seated comfortably. The food was lovely (vegetarians catered for). Cannot fault it .

A very special golf course set in a National Trust area of outstanding beauty. If you like driving the ball it's great for that, the greens are generous in size but don't be fooled if you are a long way away from the pin, good putting is a premium. The members are so friendly, everyone I met or spoke with were so proud of the course and club. Well worth a visit to this English top 100 golf course.

Amazing course set in the woods with trees either side on most holes. A real challenge. Some old fashioned values still at the club. One of our party was picked up for not wearing white socks. But otherwise the club was really nice and the bar and food all really good. Bar lady was super friendly and a breath of fresh air.

1st time of playing Ashridge it had been well recommend to me and we were not disappointed with the course. Greens and bunkers were in excellent condition. Food and service was fantastic all staff and members was friendly and welcoming

Well having played some of the top courses in Hertfordshire inc The Grove this course is definitely the best Iv been to, the gentleman in the pro shop was very helpful and friendly even gave me a basket of balls for the range, the breakfast we had was delicious, the course ‘Starter’ Ian was very friendly, helpful and went above and beyond, the course was fantastic and the service was second to none! Will definitely be coming back! If I didn’t live so far away I’d 100% be a member in a hart beat, thank you Ashridge!

A fantastic course. Impeccable greens, well kept fairways with decent tees, plus nice sand in the bunkers. A nice setup for all the holes with good challenges, but nothing too difficult. So great for most level of golfers. I wouldn't recommend getting buggies though as they must remain on the cart path. In some ways that's good as it keeps the fairways in good nick, however, there can be more walking and time spent to get the right club. The service was brilliant from conversations with Tom who dealt with all my groups needs and making it perfect for the day, with Alice who looked after all of us brilliantly. There was a lot of nice little touches - with individual gold name tags for our bags, a lovely pouch with The Grove tees and pitch repair. Alice made sure my cakes were cut up and ready at the halfway house before hole 10, and took a load of nice pictures of us on the first tee. Really impressed with the overall experience with a big Thank You to Tom and Alice who made my 50th really unforgettable.

Nice open course, not too difficult, greens are fast, course is beautifully kept. Not too many hazards, and generally open fairways. Great facilities at the club. Very expensive to play though

It's a must. The staff were fantastic the reception I got was out of this world from start to finish. Other than the 22 mile per hour winds we had to play in. The course was fantastic. Also after your game. They're clean your clubs shoes. Various other things it was just amazing. Thank you to the Grove and all the staff it was amazing experience. And we'll definitely. Will be coming. again.

One of the best kept course I have visited and played. The staff were very helpful and friendly and the entire course was fantastic. The greens were perfect, the rough wasn’t too rough and the fairways in better condition than a lot of other courses putting greens! Sausage bap was top notch as well. Highly recommend

We held a charity black tie event here two weekends ago and cannot thank the staff enough for their hard work in ensuring all things ran smoothly. They were extremely attentive and welcoming. The food was delicious and everyone has commented on what a great venue it was. Thank you for a fab night.

We got married on Saturday 6th May 2023 and had the time of our lives ! The team was exceptional and so accommodating, the service was perfect. The food was impeccable, compliments to the chef for meeting everyone's dietary requirements, including high quality halal meat. The bar served cocktails and mocktails. Drinks and dishes were copious. Highly recommend as this was the best day of our lives !!!

We used Chartridge Park for a wake venue, and were very pleased we did. The food ordered was lovely and tasty, and seemed good value for money. The staff were quietly going about making sure everything was clean and tidy, and were there if we needed anything. The bar had a great selection of drinks. We were very pleased that we chose to have the wake here and would recommend the venue to anyone else. Great service and food! There was diasbled access via a path at the rear and toilets were on the same floor. Plus there are lovely views across the golf course which felt calming and peaceful. Thank you all for your hard work and excellent service. 10/10.

Fantastic test for levels of golfers with silky smooth greens and lush fairways ⛳

Lovely course. was a tad wet when we played only last week but still beautiful. Old club house in a beautiful setting. Runs very close to Whipsnade Zoo and you can see the car safari too. I'm sure on a clear warm day it to would be stunning. We will be coming back in the summer.

I enjoyed this challenging course set around Whipsnade Zoo. It’s fairly long, with plenty of hazards despite looking open from the tees. Some holes offer great views of the zoo and its animals. Worth the fee, and fun for all skill levels. Looking forward to returning soon!

Very friendly and sociable service in the pro shop and the bar with good quality Guinness and tasty food. Enjoyable and interesting golf course totally surrounded by countryside and some lovely scenery.

We were delighted to capture a wedding at the stunning Moor Park recently and in terms of wedding venues in and around London, this is the place to get married. It had everything you could wish for and more! Great food, kind staff, beautiful views and more. Thank you guys for all your help on the day - it was much appreciated.

Had a fantastic time playing the High Course. The fairways and greens were in decent condition and the pace of play was smooth. Big thanks to Ben who went above and beyond - my last minute booking was handled efficiently and he also gave me a tour of the beautiful clubhouse. Looking forward to coming back to play the West Course next time.

We celebrated a work do here, and it was truly unforgettable. The manicured grounds are nothing short of spectacular—perfect for photos or a leisurely stroll between events. Inside, the interior is elegant and thoughtfully designed, striking the ideal balance between grandeur and warmth. And the food was simply outstanding: each dish was beautifully presented and bursting with flavor. Overall, Moor Park delivered an exceptional experience from start to finish.

Absolutely brilliant venue. Nice and clean. Brilliant staff helpful. Food was amazing. Wheelchair and Disability access. Toilet facility available. Ample Parking facility available with extra parking spaces. Members only golf club unfortunately. Architecture and decor was superb and kept so neat and tidy with history of the building.

I was really quite surprised with the location of this course. I traveled through a really busy Watford town center, turned a couple of corners and then find the course tucked behind a residential estate. However having arrived at the clubhouse it feels miles from anywhere, and was really quiet to play on. The club house was really clean and well maintained. Following the path around behind the club towards the pro shop and first tee you pass a really expansive putting green and a smaller chipping area. I played using a discount voucher so thought it great value but I'm not sure if the standard pay and play fee is such a good deal. I arrived a bit late so didn't have time to use the practice range but managed to hit a few balls in the practice nets before having a quick putt. The putting green gave a good indication of the greens in general and although they were a bit slower than I'm used to they were true with and in good condition providing a consistent roll. The course itself is a friendly parkland course with pretty much all the holes playing as you see them with not too many challenges. The whole course is tree lined with some scrub in places causing the odd lost ball. The fairways are actually all pretty wide and were in a great condition (and just for a change i managed to hit most of them!). As for the greens they were all fairly friendly with not too many challenging pin placements or horrible breaks to contend with. The best hole for me was the short par 4 8th which runs down hill towards a dip on the left with trees on the right. Not being a big hitter it gave me a nice lay up approach wood for a pitch onto the green. The only hole to let the course down was the 16th which is a par 3 playing a blind shot down to a cratered green over a well placed marker. It has a very generous landing area and despite having shot my approach well right of target, I was still left with a greenside pitch onto the putting surface having expected to be in the rough. Overall a very nice course not overly challenging. Probably the best thing was at the end of the day having finished and being able to see the members and juniors making the most of the practice area. Clearly a family friendly club with good facilities and a course that would suit most golfers and as of this moment in great condition.

My first time at the venue. Having left a nearby crematorium we head d here to cel beaten the death of a good family friend. Greeted at a h door by a young lady we were warmly welcomed. Hot coffee followed by some good food. For such an occasion this is wonderful venue. A golf course with wonderful food. There is also a good restaurant on site that we will visit in the future.

Afternoon Tea. Great service, great food, great venue! For a 21st birthday celebration. Only 4 of us but it was lovely. A glass of bubbly and an extra dessert for the birthday boy and two of the staff came and sang happy birthday with us. The selection of teas was brilliant. Answered all questions. Extremely friendly people. Would highly recommend and well done Centurion for having such lovely staff. Well worth the visit!

Nice course with very challenging greens! Tee boxes and fairways were in great condition. Every hole was different and unique, there was only one bland hole. Greens needed a little TLC. Club house was nice and the food was great.

Great for families, fantastic junior setup. Clubhouse serves lovely food from first thing till 5pm, highly recommend

Clearly a course that is going through a lot of changes right now, huge bunkering project that is half way done. You can see some of the ones that have been done and they look immense. Front 9 is relatively straight forward with a few good scoring opportunities, back 9 becomes a bit tougher and more strategic. Would love to come back in summer and see it in full bloom

Buckinghamshire Golf Club , Is simply the best, Not just a Golf Course but a Golf Course that is one of the most rewarding in so many ways, Positive energy and feeling refreshed are some of the sensations one feels at this location, The course is one of visual spender and immaculate green spaces , I have made 200 Mile round trip to visit this course that how much i appreciate such quality , As a venue for any one or business you cannot get better, No pre contract signing worry's here suitably refreshed after a round here any prospective client will be ready to sign the contract you have nestling in your briefcase

Awesome course even with the wet weather recently, great service in the clubhouse. Nice lunch after golf. Super winter package, breakfast roll and coffee, 18 holes of golf and one course lunch. 75 quid. Brilliant

Premium destination in so many ways - fantastic clubhouse, lovely terrace, beautifully conditioned course. Personally found some of the holes furthest from the clubhouse a little “samey”, but this is still a great place to visit
