When we set about building our retirement home some years ago we were rigorous in researching the reputation of those who would do the work. As we'd decided not to employ a builder but to supervise the construction ourselves, we were very much in the hands of individual contractors, so their skills and trustworthiness were fundamental. The house, set in the heart of a lovely country estate, was the apogee of a lifelong dream for me and my husband -- to make an English home that was classical but not a pastiche. Of all the design elements, we realised, one of the most critical in determining real quality would be the woodwork. The contractor we chose to deliver that was West Oak Joinery, a well-established family-run local firm. It was quickly evident to us that owner Trevor Cox and his obliging, skilful staff had both the capacity and imagination -- and the patience -- to turn our vague concepts into elegant reality. At every level their handiwork was perfect; usefully large polished English oak doors framed in pleasingly wide architrave, exquisite wainscotting, radiator boxing and panelling, glazed dining-room cupboards, built-in library shelving and a graceful, imposing staircase; everywhere workmanship of the highest order, expertly installed and, after years in place, showing no sign of movement. We have used Tim several times for carpentry work, including a bespoke piece which attracts much admiration. He listens carefully to what you need and gives great advice which adds to the final product. Tim is a perfectionist and his work is always immaculate, with great attention to detail. He leaves the area clean and tidy. Tim is a craftsman and I totally recommend him.

Tim is a consummate craftsman. He has an excellent eye for detail and style. We largely left the design elements of the bespoke furniture he made for us up to him. All of his suggestions were great and we are delighted with the final result of everything he has made. He is friendly, polite and punctual, and leaves the work area spotlessly clean when he is finished. The quality of his work is exceptional and we couldn’t recommend him highly enough.

Tim has transformed a cluttered space, designing and building bespoke display cabinets, under-eaves storage, and book, CD and DVD shelving. Ian did a fantastic job of repairing and restoring an old chest of drawers. Job was done quickly, to a high standard and very reasonable cost. We would have no hesitation in recommending him.

Bryan replaced an internal door for us recently as well as fixing the frame and fitting additional door handles throughout the house. The communication and service was great throughout, will definitely use CarpentryUK again!

Bryan has completed two separate pieces of work for me, both to a really high quality. Firstly outside house maintenance and then a refit if my kitchen. He is a very talented craftsman, I was really impressed with his professionalism and standard of his work. He also worked well with other contractors involved and left every clean, tidy and is a really nice guy. I’d highly recommended him.

We contacted Bryan for the fitting of two new interior doors. After a speedy response a home visit appointment was made so I could show Bryan exactly what I needed doing. On the day of installation Bryan arrived on time and done a fantastic job on our doors, plus gave me advice on how and what to use to treat our oak doors for protection. We have four more interior doors that need replacing and i will definitely be calling Bryan again. Thanks for a very professional job.

I've used Bryan a number of times now. He's fitted wooden flooring through downstairs, replaced kitchen work tops and most recently fitted an oak beam above my fireplace. I can't recommend him enough. Great workmanship, great guy and has always left the place clean and tidy.. Hightly recommend!!
