Café Solo

“I was really impressed with cafe solo. We went there for breakfast and I really couldn't fault the food - I wanted a good fry up and that's exactly what I got. The milkshake here is also some of the best I've had around Canterbury, actually made using ice cream with a dollop of cream on top. The only reason I haven't put 5 stars for the food is because it didn't wow me like my other 5 star reviews, but it was still very decent. The staff were super friendly but gave us the space we wanted to eat together, the space was clean, and we were even surprised with complimentary Turkish delight. Overall, would recommend. They have a small carpark, but there are supermarkets nearby.”

The Beano Cafe
12 North Ln, Canterbury CT2 7EB, UK
Phone: 01227 781528
“Canterbury is brimming with history and charm, but sometimes a hungry tourist needs a good breakfast to fuel their adventures. That's where the Beano Cafe swoops in, saving the day with a breakfast spread that's as mighty as Dennis the Menace' scraper bike. My inner child did a little jig when I saw the name, and the menu did not disappoint. I opted for the classic English brekkie, and let me tell you, it was a full-on feast for a champion. The sausage were juicy and plump, they burst with flavour in every bite. The egg was cooked as expected, their golden yolks begging to be mopped up with the accompanying toast. The bacon added a salty touch, while the baked beans offered a welcome touch of sweetness. But the real surprise was the fried bread. Golden and fluffy on the inside, it had a satisfyingly crispy exterior. It was the perfect vessel for scooping up beans, mopping up egg yolk, or simply savoring on its own. The toast, perfectly toasted and generously buttered, provided a more traditional option for those who prefer a less adventurous approach. The Beano Cafe isn't just about the food. The entire experience is a delightful homage to the world of Beano comic books. From the quirky decor to the friendly staff who seem to have stepped straight out of the pages, it injects a playful energy into the breakfast routine. Whether you're a Beano enthusiast or simply looking for a hearty and delicious breakfast in Canterbury, the Beano Cafe is a must-visit. The food is fantastic, the atmosphere is fun, and it's the perfect way to start your day with a smile. Just be warned, this breakfast is fit for a hero, so come hungry!”

The Moat Tea Rooms
67 Burgate, Canterbury CT1 2HJ, UK
Phone: 01227 784514
“I had seen the tea rooms online and thought it should be perfect to take my friends from abroad to, and it absolutely delivered! The place is actually much more spacious than it looks, lovely sitting area upstairs. We popped in Sunday lunchtime and were surprised the place was empty, that meant we got to choose the best table. The building itself is so quaint, the traditional cream tea and sandwiches were delicious, great tea selection, but the service left the most lasting impression. The young lady, I did not get her name unfortunately, was really sweet and helpful, made us feel very welcome. Will definitely be back to sample the cakes!”

“Really lovely place! A friend of mine recommended the place to me and I checked it out! Great coffee, I had a white mocha with hazelnut syrup and oat milk (amazingly made, and tasted great), and I had this really tasty granola bowl with yogurt, oats, strawberries, raspberries and some other tasty fruit (10/10 mix, I asked for some cinnamon and maple syrup to add and it was exceptional to me). Really cool vibe to the place, and was really impressed by the miniature train set they have towards the back. Shout out to rachel for her kind service and the male staff with glasses (he actually built the train set himself! Really impressive). I’ll definitely be back, highly recommend!”

Burgate Coffee House
43 Burgate, Canterbury CT1 2HW, UK
Phone: 01227 764946
“Sat in a for a late lunch, ordered a gluten free pesto chicken sandwich and an iced oat chai latte. My friend got the grilled cheese with a flat white. Felt as though 15 quid was a bit expensive for my order - until the food was served! The sandwiches are massive and both my friend and I kept half for dinner. We both really enjoyed our meals! The staff were warm and welcoming, the cafe was relatively quiet for a Saturday at 12:45pm. There were a variety of cakes available as well, with a fair amount of gluten free and vegan options available. Staff clarified whether my gluten free sandwich order was due to an allergy or a preference. Overall, would recommend, especially for those with a gluten intolerance!”
