I took my parents here for a meal today (Tuesday) lunchtime and arrived shortly before midday. We found the pub to be quiet, which was good since we had a choice of tables. My parents had never been here before and were impressed with the relaxed atmosphere and varied menu. The waiting time for the food was just right; not too fast or too slow, although I'm not sure how it would be at peak times. The food itself was reasonably sized portions, served nice and hot. Service was friendly and polite. For the price you cannot expect Michelin star food, but overall a good experience and great value for money.

I had to leave a review because the service from Jamie, Harry and Katie was exemplary. I had to pay my compliments to the chef Jamie as the food he cooked was absolutely perfect. The chicken was soft and tender, the new take on the nachos was exciting and the chicken strips were coated perfectly. Harry the barman was very friendly and helped me decide on my order where I was unsure on what to have. He was very chill and we had a nice chat whilst he poured my drinks. Katie, who I believed to be the manager, came after my meal was served and checked all was ok and gave me a great recommendation on what to have for next time and you could see clearly loved working here. To see all the staff happy like that really made my afternoon as it was clear they loved what they do and they were getting joy from making me and my mother’s experience a great one. Perfect staff team, brilliant people, lovely location! (I had Super Special Epic Chicken New Yorker, Halloumi Fries and mum had the Ultimate Big Combo Sharer! She says it was definitely 5 Star and is known to be fussy. Don’t tell her I said that. 😉)

Massive improvement at the Royal Anchor, stopped coming here a few months back as food was below standard for the hungry horses (I use all the Hungry horses) . New chef Jamie and Shona on the bar made today's very enjoyable experience . The once below parr food was today excellent such an improvement.

The food is not only delicious but also served in generous portions, which is always a plus. They offer a fantastic selection of lagers, too. What really stood out to me was how attentive the staff is; they genuinely care about making sure you have everything you need for a satisfying experience. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, creating a cozy, home-like feeling, and the decor is simply beautiful. It’s a lovely place to spend time and feel at ease. Please note that the quantity in the picture is smaller than what we actually received. It was just too delicious to wait!

Service and food was good. Thanks to Mow who served us. Very attentive. Had the Classic chicken New York. 2 chicken breaststroke with bacon and fries. Was far too much for me so I shared it with my son. Sticky toffee pudding was delicious. Thank you
