Review of Sunday Lunch at Wanstead Golf Club I recently had the pleasure of enjoying a Sunday lunch at Wanstead Golf Club. The roast dinner featured a generous portion of meat, which was beautifully presented. While the accompanying vegetables offered a fresh touch. It was evident that they use quality ingredients. For dessert, I chose the apple crumble. It had a lovely appearance; the flavours were rich and satisfying. I appreciated the effort in presentation, and it was a nice way to end the meal. The service was friendly and accommodating. The staff made an effort to ensure we were comfortable and attended to, which added a welcoming atmosphere to our visit. Overall, my Sunday lunch at Wanstead Golf Club was a pleasant experience.

I have been here a few times to play, and the course is enjoyable to play with very good greens and fairways. I found it really easy to get to and the central line train is a short walk away for people like me who do not have a vehicle. I can also highly recommend the food in the clubhouse, I loved the chicken wrap I got for lunch!

The Stables restaurant has a great menu and breakfast options and good coffee. I will definitely be back to try more of the menu. Nice change from the High Street, definitely worth a try.

Friendly staff, course in decent condition considering the rain we’ve had. Full English breakfast was the best I’ve ever had. Staff very friendly.

We recently held my father's Wake at Wanstead Golf Club. Bernie and Ann are so kind and really helped me with its organisation and took the stress out if it for me. People commented that the food was lovely and I am very grateful to Ann for running the catering so seamlessly. Thank you to everyone for helping Dad's Wake run so smoothly.

Ilford Golf Course

Some of the holes are little tricky but really enjoyable. Not so crowded, players are very friendly. Hole#10→11, #17→18 is hard to find. #10→11 These starting points are next to each other. #17→18 After returning to the bridge that you crossed in the middle of # 2, go straight along the road and you will find a short hole that's #18!

Good course that is well maintained. The course is split up by a stream will fairly steep bank on either side. This creates a few interesting holes requiring the ball to clear the wide gap. There are a varieties of old and young trees that are pleasing to the eye. The greens are kept very well and pretty quick. To get to the course you need to cross the north circular road by a footbridge, so there is traffic noise but isn't too bad. There's good practice area including putting green, chipping area and practice nets. The green fee is normally around £20 so is pretty good for the standard of the course.

The course is great and the greens are kept very well. The staff are very friendly and welcoming.

Very friendly staff. I was playing solo that afternoon and one staff member walked me out after I’d said it was my first time there. Course was in good condition considering the time of year and the recent downpours. Some tricky holes and blind shots into some greens. I’ll play it again in summer! £25 for thé round which was okay value for money.

Great course and hospitality for 54th golf society Captain’s Golf Day.

A wedding anniversary celebration was held there. The food was excellent and the facilities were top class.

Course seemed a bit boggy underfoot even with little recent rain. I've known more interesting holes on many other courses. The off course facilities are very good quality.

Course was in stunning condition especially considering the weather over night and in the morning. Food was superb as always. Well worth a visit if you get the chance

Recently came here for a society day, but have also been a couple of time prior to that, what a great course that has something for everyone, it is short, but that really helps as I have two sons starting out in golf and it gives them a chance to get used to course conditions. The greens are fantastic and although can be tricky they are like carpet. Some great short holes as well which will have you using all of the clubs in your bag! Nice ham,egg and chips as well

Lovely place to play Golf extremely good value for money, greens where good, 2 faults the tee boxes where not the best and little more signage and yardage sticks would of helped The lady behind the desk was polite and the Breakfast wrap was a winner winner. Highly recommend.

I had a lovely morning playing The Prince’s course this morning at Richmond Park Golf Course. The staff was very friendly and I was able to hire some clubs. The clubs were a bit old and beat up but I guess that’s to be expected with a public course. They still played fine. The course itself is beautiful with lots of birds and foxes on the course. I landed my ball on the green with a nice pitch shot and this fox darted out of the bushes and tried to steal my ball haha. It was quite comical and a unique experience. Keep an eye out for those sly foxes. Also, bring extra balls because you will lose a bunch unless you have great aim. The rough is extremely thick and dense. While I lost lots a few balls I also found a few so it evened out. Overall a fun course close to London. I’d definitely go back.

Had a lovely scramble with a good friend on this 18 hole course after hitting the driving range. I’m a complete beginner so I was happy to hit a few straight shots! Driving range is decent and has targets etc Cafe is reasonably priced and lots of seating area Recommend sun cream for hot days! The refill station at hole 9 was welcome, and the price of stuff in vending machines is cheap for chocolates etc

Played on the princes lovely course moderately well kept but for the price and accessibility it's amazing great staff, and an amazing day out Update, have played on the dukes very nice golf course, well kept friendly players and staff, really enjoyed it.

We played at Duke’s course. Enjoyable course with rental clubs available. Tips: Better bring own clubs. And a lot ~~~s of balls ~~ 😬
Rating: 4 / 5
Excited about playing a course that I’ve not played in 15 years. The course layout is good, very flat and straight, however bunkers are very well placed and the fairways are mostly undulating so shot selection is key. Course is okish, could be better, however greens are true can be attacked very well. The rough needs work as when a ball lands in it it’s very tough to find them. Staff are very friendly and there is a good beer selection!

I would say good value for money. Though heaters on the upper floor bays were not working. Good location with views of Canary Wharf and the O2. Driver clubs were all dented/damaged but usable, but if you want to take it seriously best to bring your own.

Exceptional Golfing Experience at Peninsula Greenwich "We recently had the pleasure of playing golf at Peninsula Green, and it was truly one of the best experiences! The course was immaculate, with breathtaking views of the bay. Although dining options were limited, the cheesy fries were a highlight. The bay's serene atmosphere made our visit truly enjoyable. Highly recommend Peninsula Green for golf enthusiasts!

Great way to spend your weekend with a group of friends. I visited with a group of my friends and I couldn’t realise how the time passed by. We enjoyed a lot competing with eachother. They have live screen to watch all the live metrics, you can definitely make use of it if you are a golf beginner just like me. They also serve food and drinks inside. Although veg options are very limited, they had a good taste. I would highly recommend this place.

Ilford Golf Club
1 Albatross Ln, Ilford IG1 3FL, UK | Sports Club P: 020 8554 2930
Rating: 4.1 (102) Price Level:
Ilford is a very friendly club. Considering the amount of rain in east London last few days it was remarkably dry. The greens were firm, but a high ball would stop .The greens are always good at Ilford. My only complaint was nature. So many leaves it took an age to find our balls.
Rating: 4 / 5
Ilford Golf Course is a fantastic option for those seeking a good value for money round of golf during the summer months. The Twilight hours offer an affordable way to play, making it accessible to all. The course is usually well maintained and presents enjoyable challenges throughout, with some fun questions of the tee. Although the course was very dry during the summer, it has since recovered, providing a pleasant round of golf all year round. However, it can be very wet during the winter months, so it's always worth checking the weather before booking a tee time. One of the standout features of Ilford Golf Course is the feeling of the course being getable, meaning that it is possible for golfers of all skill levels to have a good round. With a mix of short and long holes, there is something for everyone to enjoy. Personally, my favorite hole is the 6th. The green is well maintained and boasts impressive bunkers on either side, making for a visually striking hole. It's a challenging par 4 that requires some strategic thinking to navigate successfully, and it's always satisfying to make par or better on this hole. Overall, I highly recommend Ilford Golf Course for those seeking an affordable round of golf with enjoyable challenges throughout. With a well-maintained course, a range of holes to suit all abilities, and some visually striking features, it's a great choice for any keen golfer.

I knew what I was going to play and I still liked the course and the layout is super fun to play. The quirky relationship with the highway is unique. There are no two holes alike, which I love. The overall condition was not good throughout. It could just use more maintenance everywhere all the time. #2, #6, #9, #11, #13, #14, #16 and #17 are all good holes.
Rating: 4 / 5
Always wanted to play here but never quite got round to it, all be it that this is a local course. I knew that the course sat very close to the A406 so I was somewhat prepared for that. Quite surreal to see a well kept green surrounded by beautiful trees with a flyover and crane for a backdrop. The course was relatively short with some interesting blind shots and quirky holes due to the river running through. A few holes cross over each other as well so clearly getting the course into the space available has required some compromises. The greens I found ran very true and after a few holes found my myself feeling very confident hitting putts from distance. Pitching into the greens I found they didn't take much spin and balls rolled off greens quite readily. Some aspects of maintenance were disappointing, a lot of cut grass just sits all over the course making it appear unkept. For some reason found a traffic bollard in the course which I must say is a first. Overall a decent experience. The cost and proximity makes this course a good option.

Stapleford Abbotts Golf Club
Horseman Side, Tysea Hill, Stapleford Abbotts, Romford RM4 1JU, UK | Sports Club P: 01708 381108
Rating: 4.1 (119) Price Level:
Decided to play on Thursday with two buddies and definitely enjoyed it . We usually play the top course at Hainault but they seem to have become a lot more expensive recently so we decided to give Stapleford a try. The course itself is pretty flat so it was no problem for us old timers to walk it with trolleys. The atmosphere is really friendly and the clubhouse has a fine selection of Beers and Food. We will definitely go back... Sam, the lovely lady taking the money was really helpful when we asked for a Buggy refund ( decided to walk and burn off some belly fat).. and Colin was making sure we had everything we needed including the emergency code for the toilets after they had closed the club house ones.. we are sure to play there again soon... i need to try and find all those balls i lost...and hopefully my Catalytic Converter will not be stolen ... like it was at Hainault... on a beautiful sunny day with CCTV in action.. See you soon Stapleford 😎⛳️

Greens, bunkers, fairways and tee boxes generally in good shape. Played during social distancing regulations with limited clubhouse facilities available. Green fees reasonable compared with other local golf courses. Relatively easy layout. Flat course with several dog legs to be aware of.

Good value course! Ncie layout and wonderful greens. Shame the clubhouse closes early and not much atmosphere but this club has a lot of potential! Would play again

i played there last week with 2 old mates (i'm the youngest and look it ! ) We had a great time on a challenging course..we were playing behind a 'Society' and teed off just after 11.00 am but luckily we were not held up too much and each hole flowed pretty well without delay causing 'Mind Wander'...it's definitely a course you have to play a few times because of the hazards but very rewarding when you get it right...you have to be careful on the 18th at the moment because if you veer off to the right before the Green it's a bit boggy with the rain we have had..we finished the day in the Bar talking about how much better we could have played and were looked after by the lovely Sam and a really helpful young lady (i think her name is Harris or Paris...my hearing is going )...they really are a credit to the Golf Club as nothing is too much trouble for them..fixing the Coffee Machine, changing the Barrels...the Owners are lucky to have them as if i was lucky enough to own a golf club i would definitely snap them up!..Great Staff are hard to find and it's another reason we will definitely return soon!

Nice place for a drink and some mini golf fun! The holes are different and you can spend 30 minutes entertained. I would say the girl and one of the guys who gave me the golf club were a bit rude… but overall, good.
