Great little cafe. Great food. Great atmosphere and lovely owners / staff. Would recommend to the locals and it's my first place to go when I need time out away from work. Ideal as it's 2 minutes drive away. And they are more than accommodating with my disability as I have mobility issues and use a crutch to walk with.

Nestled in a charming spot that feels a world away, Courtside Café is more than just a place to grab breakfast; it’s a culinary experience with an irresistible twist. Helmed by a French-trained chef who elevates British staples with skill and flair, this is where you’ll find an English breakfast that’s head and shoulders above anything else for miles. Imagine: perfectly crispy bacon, eggs with a yolk that practically glows, succulent sausages, tomatoes that taste like they’ve basked in the sun, and – here’s the real showstopper – fried bread. Yes, fried bread, that elusive marvel of the past, cooked to golden, crispy perfection. It’s a bite of nostalgia with a dash of indulgence, and worth the trip alone. The prices are refreshingly fair, a rarity these days when anything ‘artisan’ can often mean a double-digit bill. Here, you’re getting top-notch quality and a level of finesse that feels like a gift, considering the price. This café’s value is truly hard to beat. Then there’s the atmosphere. Decorated in tasteful Farrow & Ball hues, the café has both inside and outdoor seating, each space as inviting as the next. Indoors, the muted tones add a calm elegance; outdoors, the setting makes you feel like you’re part of a hidden gem. And the vibe? It’s bustling yet relaxed, with the warm hum of locals who’ve also caught on to this rare find. Of course, no good breakfast spot could call itself complete without a solid coffee game, and Courtside Café doesn’t disappoint. Bean-to-cup, strong, and smooth, it’s a coffee made to be savoured rather than rushed. The cherry on top, though, is the service. The staff here know what they’re doing, delivering a genuine warmth and attentiveness that makes you feel like you’re visiting an old friend. They’re charming, efficient, and clearly proud to work in a place that takes both food and hospitality seriously. Courtside Café isn’t just breakfast; it’s a proper British institution – complete with fried bread and everything.

I just wanted to say how lovely this little place is ❤️ we've been for breakfast and for lunch now and can highly recommend the food here, cooked to perfection with clearly high quality produce. We love how welcoming it is at The Courtside Cafe, the team are so friendly and clearly care very much about providing excellent service. The cafe is so nicely done, with a lot of thought clearly having been put into atmosphere and decor too. Again, it really reflects a happy and caring team. We keep saying to each other how it is so lovely to have a really GOOD cafe in our local area! Love the atmosphere, the setting, the food, everything! Keep going guys!

“Went for afternoon tea for my partners birthday! What an experience. The lovely people running the tea room were so kind and accommodating. There were a lot of us and they were so good at making sure each of us had everything we needed. The afternoon tea was so delicious! There was so much food and they let us take it home too! I will be eating cake for tea for a week lol!! Definitely 5 stars and can’t recommend it enough! Will certainly be coming back for their delicious looking breakfast next time!”

“Stayed here at the end of winter, really lovely site, well maintained and staff were exceptional. Close to home so it was a quick weekend away. Facilities could do with an upgrade that’s for sure but this didn’t detract from our stay whatsoever. Direct access to conkers from the site and a vast number of walks too, we did a 10k walk on the Saturday and never used the same path twice. Fellow campers were friendly and all said good morning etc. We would use this site again without question.”

“Caroline and her team assisted with hosting my sister's baby shower and afternoon tea. It was a fabulous afternoon, hired privately, the food was fantastic and a lovely venue in the heart of Swadlincote. Caroline was helpful before and during the event and was very efficient in her communications. I would highly recommend.”

“What a fab place for lunch. Obviously, they can be very busy. Fortunately we went for a late lunch around 1:30-1:45 and got seated in the conservatory which had a nice view out into the garden and included a big heater to keep the place warm. The staff were lovely and very helpful giving clear guidance on how to order and what's on the menu. The decaf tea was well presented, a good quantity and hot. The quiche meals were of very generous portions, with a good measure of mixed salad. There was a wide selection of cakes. The cornflake tart caught my eye and when it came it was a generous portion. I can recommend it! We moved into the main seating area after a short time as it was quite cool in the conservatory for us. The big heater couldn’t quite cope with the outside sliding doors opening for customers coming and going. The main seating area was a better area to sit, and was a good bit warmer. It was good to see the staff set to cleaning the tables and floors after customers had left. There are a couple of toilets on the ground floor, both clean and tidy with good facilities. The couple of things that would have made our experience even better was. 1. Fix the sliding outside door and stop it being left open or sliding open. On a cold day it is noticeable. 2. Both of our quiche meals were only just warm. They would have been much nicer a lot hotter. Overall, the staff were excellent, the food very good and the place was clean and tidy. Prices were a little more then we would have paid else where. There appears to be two car parks. We parked in the one off the main road and ended walking along it just around the corner to find the closer carpark and the entrance. We will definitely go again, perhaps when the weather improves or ask for a seat inside the main café.”
