I brought our Under 15s rugby tour here and we had a great time. We were treated very well, accommodation and food was perfect, and there was even a seperate room to use in the evening. Plenty to do at the nearby park and snow sports centre. Thank you.
Nice place to stay. Excellent location next to a woodland with great green scenery. Dorm room (£10) was standard but comfortable with a decent but noisy bunk bed, plug sockets and lockable storage. Bathroom was fine. Facilities themselves were more than adequate; a bike locker with repair station, big self-catering facility, lots of seating indoor and out, plus the buffet breakfast (extra price) was OK and had many options. I'd stay here again!
Stayed 2 nights, mid-Feb, 1 adult, 2 young children. Very warm welcome on arrival and efficient check-in. The hostel is modern, clean and well-positioned for a number of local attractions. The room was compact but clean and very warm at night, thankfully! Slight downside was the noise and timing of the bathroom fan: whilst obviously necessary, it was very loud for late night or early morning use and seemed to stay on for ages. Other than that, great little room and very clean. Informative displays on the corridors about the hostel's history and its role in the National Forest itself. We used the self-catering facilities for all of our meals. This kitchen is very well equipped (lots of fridge space and plenty of all the necessaries). Would love to revisit in the summer months so kids can play outside, we can make use of more of the external facilities and enjoy more of the local scenery. Spent a day at Conkers too: couldn't recommend it enough. Excellent value for money and kept us all engrossed for over 6 hours! Back to the hostel (hopefully), was a very pleasant, short break - well worth a visit if you're looking to explore the National Forest. Thank you for a great stay.
We had exclusive hire and hosted our wedding party here. We had the best weekend! The communal space was great, the rooms were clean and tidy and the grounds were beautiful. The doors open onto the patio area and so the space flowed really well. The hostel staff were great at communicating and answering our many questions in the months before. Lots of great walks nearby and it felt very secluded. Cannot recommend this place enough!
Friendly staff and well stocked bar. Great food and kitchen, good sitting areas outside and inside, plenty of space for little ones to run about. Short walk to country walks and over to conkers is very close. Great location to explore. Rooms are cosy and warm, however the showers are possibly the best in summer as they have not been designed well enough and could do with some updating.
