We visit this cafe as we are members of the EKR. We travel down from Lincolnshire quite often and head for the café in the morning. Always welcomed very clean great atmosphere. Food is cooked fresh & hot, good sized helpings, always empty plates. The breakfast sets you up for the day, recommend the brake van.

I found this place on Google maps on a visit to Dover and I could not be happier with my experience. Warm welcome by all the staff. Friendly and helpful. Decor was fresh and the place was bigger than I expected for a high street cafe. Food was cooked perfectly.

This is a lovely, lovely coffee shop, the atmosphere is warm, friendly and relaxed, the Manager/Owner and staff are calm and friendly and the place itself has 4 different seating areas - 2 are outside - the courtyard at the back is a delight. Super clean loos always a good indicator I feel - the whole place feels ‘loved’. Coffee is really good too … but the cake! Wow! THE best gluten free Lemon Cake (also choc brownie) I’ve ever had and so fresh! The icing on the cake is that they are SO dog friendly .. we really enjoy going there and so does our Teddie! Thanks for the doggy treats too!

The Best Coffee in Dover by a country mile. The staff here are great, friendly, and attentive, always ready to greet you with a smile. Whenever I visit, I always see a few familiar faces, indicative of the consistency of service. Could not recommend more. Food is simple Café food, done well (They stock Gluten Free Bread!), and there is a large selection of fresh pastries and cakes. Get in early because it fills up quickly, and if you visit in the summer, there's a beautiful, suntrap, courtyard garden out the back.

Gourmet Kitchen

124A Sandgate Rd, Folkestone CT20 2BW, UK | Cafe
P: 01303 255762

Rating: 4.6 (230) Price Level:

Excellent full English, happy to accommodate one change and what a delight to find a chef who knows how to cook tomatoes and add herbs to enhance. This is a rarity! The quality of ingredients was excellent, bacon nice and crisp as requested, delicious sausage. Friendly and warm service, clearly a popular place with some tables reserved. I asked for both my drinks (chai and flat white) to be extra hot. They were reasonably hot but not extra hot. I always ask everywhere I go because I can't bare tepid drinks! Highly recommended! Thank you 😊

I've never been able to get into the Gourmet Kitchen when I have visited. Folkstone, what just happened that it was quiet when we walked past today. The 4.7 rating on Google is very, very well deserved! Service is excellent, The atmosphere very convivial and the food is amazing. I have a soft spot anything with pastrami and gherkins and I was not disappointed with the lovely toasted sandwiches we ordered. The bagel avocado, mozzarella and roasted tomato bagel was epic 🙂. We will be back!

A very tasty brunch, fresh with quality ingredients, not greasy at all. I had a vegan and my partner a full English brunch. We both left happy and very full, with a piece of cake and a sourdough bread to go 😊 The staff is very friendly too. It's not the first and definitely not the last time we will visit!

FirstLight Bistro

1-3 The Droveway, St Margarets Bay, Dover CT15 6DH, UK | Cafe
P: 01304 279863

Rating: 4.7 (230) Price Level:

The First Light Bistro, now under new management, has truly transformed into a culinary gem. The star of the kitchen, Amy, has worked wonders with the menu, delivering dishes that are both inventive and delectably satisfying. Each bite is a testament to her skill and passion for cooking. The service is equally commendable—prompt, attentive, and unfailingly courteous, which adds to the overall delightful dining experience. I wholeheartedly recommend this establishment to anyone seeking an exceptional meal. However, due to its growing popularity, it’s advisable to book a table in advance.

FirstLight Bistro is a charming little cafe in St Margaret's Bay that serves up amazing breakfast and lunch. The atmosphere is relaxed and friendly, and the staff are always happy to help. I've tried both the vegan and regular breakfasts, and both were delicious. The vegan breakfast is made with avocado, tomato, hash browns, mushrooms, beans, and toast, and it's packed with flavor. The regular breakfast is also very good, with all the classic ingredients you'd expect. I've also tried the sausage rolls. They're absolutely delicious, and they're a great option if you're looking for something a bit more substantial. For dessert, I recommend the biscoff or fruit bun. Overall, I highly recommend FirstLight Bistro. It's a great place to go for breakfast, lunch, or a coffee and cake. The food is delicious, the service is friendly, and the atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming.

They do very good food with nice generous side salads. The staff are friendly, hardworking, folk and it's a good place for coffee. The clientele are a mixed bag. If you're lucky it's peaceful, but at other times the bling bling tracksuit mob turn up and treat the place like a pub taking loud phone calls in various languages.

Brunch cafe

22 Biggin St, Dover CT16 1BH, UK | Brunch Restaurant
P: 01304 448470

Rating: 4.1 (280) Price Level:

Stopped in for a breakfast to take with me to the train station. I ordered a decaff iced coffee, and a bacon, brie and cranberry panini (£10.90 all together). The coffee and food came quickly, and I took it away to eat. The panini was delicious, and the iced coffee was good too, just could have done with some sugar added to the hot coffee before it was poured, but I didn't ask for sugar so that was my error. The manager was around checking things and the staff were friendly, wearing their hair coverings and were presentable and clean. I'd recommend this establishment and will very likely be back again, next time I'm in Dover.

We didn’t realise this was a halal restaurant when we came in but actually really enjoyed the halal English breakfast - everything was cooked to perfection and very tasty, and they were very good on ensuring my food was dairy free. Kids also enjoyed calamari and chips, and a panini, and generously sized smoothies. Service was exceptionally friendly. Definitely recommend!
