Lovely staff and owners, on this occasion only called in for some lunch and a chat with Guy, one of the owners who's an old school friend. The cafe is lovely with a warm friendly welcome and a good menu with enough choices to please everyone, plenty of informal seating and a nice open fire.. Previous visits I've purchased garden bits and bobs, the choice is good and priced very reasonably. Can't beat its location too, very scenic.
We drop into the cafe irregularly. It's often quit busy but never failed to get a seat. Coffee is good as is the food, sandwiches, panini etc. Service has always been good and friendly Garden centre is well stocked and at good prices
The cafe here is definitely worth a visit with it's selection of cafe faves at a great price for what you get; and the quality. There's a selection of breakfast, ice-creams, cakes and hot or cold beverage with the option of dairy alternatives. The location setting is in the hills with a cracking view, it's great for walkers and even better they allow your furry friends and have a doggy menu. There's also a choice of indoor or outdoor seating. The garden centre on the other hand is meh 😕, worth a browse as there are a few good buys, but overall I found what I would've bought pretty well overpriced eg. the hanging baskets and house plants. I would have given a huge 5 stars for the cafe but I have given a 4 due to the garden centre side.
The café inside the garden centre is a local hidden gem. I went for a lunch with a friend mid-week and it exceeded my expectations. As we entered the garden centre and made our way towards the café, I noticed that the outside seating area has been upgraded and is now protected by plexiglass, which is just great for rainy days when you'd still prefer to have a hot drink or some food outside, and take a look at the beautiful hills. Inside, the café had a warm atmosphere, enhanced by a cozy fireplace, plants and paintings. There are around 8-9 tables which feels very good, however two tables in a corner feel a bit tight. The menu is extensive, and you can find pretty much everything you'd expect from a café! Breakfast items, sandwiches, hot toasties, paninis (which all come with coleslaw and a side salad), scones with jam and clotted cream, jacket potatoes, soups, milkshakes and even iced frappe(!), cakes, and even a wide variety of ice cream flavours. To top it all up, there is a beautiful mason jar of water which is complimentary, and you can even purchase Glossop honey to take home with you. The staff are lovely, they answered all my questions with a smile, and the service was roughly 15 minutes for two hot items (toastie and panini) which felt an adequate speed given that there were other customers dining too. From the café there is a direct entrance to a lovely gift shop with lots of items, and there is even a doggy items shop section too. All in all, it was a lovely experience and it makes for a great complement to the garden centre! 😀
Lovely view of the cafe at the top hill. Meals are affordable. Nicely decorated cafe. Staffs are friendly and ready to give a smile. Highly recommend place whilst exploring the highland moors.
