Edward and the team are absolutely wonderful at the St Albans Mathnasium. My year 2 and year 4 children love coming to their sessions. They find the environment calming and are learning lots more, which is really helping at school.

My daughter was finding it difficult to grasp the foundations of maths. After her initial assessment, she was eager to join and has been looking forward to her sessions ever since. Her confidence has really grown, and I’m so pleased to see her feeling more positive about the subject. The staff are fantastic, very friendly and really connect well with the children.

I started my maths journey with Sandra as an adult after failing Maths when at school and feeling very uncertain about my maths capabilities. Francesca gave my son a free session where they got to know each other and she worked out where his strengths and weaknesses are. She suggested a few possible options. She then let us as a family decide on a route forwards. We were able to identify where he needed to fill some gaps, how he could improve his technique and how he could apply what he already knows to become more fluent. Francesca was child-centred throughout, never pushed too far or fast, and highlighted the abilities and skills he already had - so it never felt like he was having extra help for being 'behind'. Money well spent!

Francesca is brilliant. For the past 1.5 years she has worked with our daughter to ensure her core skills are strong and her confidence is restored. Once this was achieved, Francesca was has then able to take our daughter's Maths to a deeper level taking her skills beyond the school year and key stage she is in. Francesca is flexible in what she teaches and adaptable to sudden time changes due to illness or school holidays. She is more than just a teacher and she will be sorely missed at the end of this academic.

Francesca is an outstanding teacher. She has a wonderful way with her students, engaging them with her enthusiasm for maths and helping them learn in a fun and relaxed environment. She has taken the time to get to know our son, understand his challenges with maths, and has adapted her teaching accordingly. He is now confident in his knowledge and lists maths as his favourite subject. The results he is getting are testament to Francesca's special gift.

Francesca has been tutoring our daughter since shortly after she started Year 9 last year, and since then I've seen a steady improvement in her confidence levels. Rob has been an amazing tutor and has helped me immensely for my A Level geography. He is very kind and patient and explains concepts clearly and in much detail. Our daughter was tutored for A-Level Geography by Rob Simmonds in the last term prior to A-Levels. She lacked confidence in her physical geography abilities and wanted to cover some key topics intensively. Rob was incredible - very organised checking what she wished to cover from the syllabus, explaining things in a level of detail that she said felt like a fog lifting and inspired confidence through her exams. We engaged Adrian to work with our son quite late into year 11 (March), this was the best decision we made. The difference in his confidence, focus and determination to succeed was significant. He achieved GCSE results in the summer that were clear improvements on his mock results the previous November. Adrian has helped me hugely going into my last year of my undergrad. Prior to meeting Adrian I felt disorganised and felt that my deadlines were fast upon me. However, just after a few sessions with Adrian, I felt comfortable in what I had to achieve in the time I had, as Adrian set me achievable goals to meet each week. He helped me reach my goal of achieving a first and for that I am very thankful.

Adrian started working on study skills with my son during his final year of A Levels, helping him to organise, prioritise and revise. As a result, my son was calm and confident going into his exams (the first public exams he’d taken due to COVID), and his grades improved beyond expectations. He is now happy and settled in his first choice of university, and still using the techniques taught to him by Adrian.

My son needed some additional support to organise both his study and approach to revision. Adrian was able to provide him with the tools and guidance to bring a workable structure to both. His individual approach to each session and genuine interest in my sons progress was refreshing. My son achieved great results and is now taking the skills learned onto his further studies. Would definitely recommend Adrian if your child is looking for that additional boost and assistance in their studies.

Lucy is AMAZING. She is an incredible science teacher who engages, motivates and inspires her pupils to learn throughout bespoke and superbly planned/delivered lessons. Lucy tutored my son throughout his GCSE’s. She not only taught him ‘science’, but instilled self-belief and self-confidence in his own ability. She gave him her knowledge and empowered him to achieve the best he could. Science became enjoyable and fun. Lucy quickly understood my son and developed a trusting bond with him. Charlie thoroughly enjoyed his chats with Lucy and genuinely looked forward to them each week. She is incredibly approachable, flexible, patient, calm, caring and kind. I cannot thank Lucy enough for the incredible emotional support she gave to Charlie throughout what was a very stressful time. She is MAGIC.

Lucy has been tutoring my son (Year 11) in the three sciences for the last year and is an EXCELLENT tutor.  She provides a fun and sociable environment in which students can learn and uses a variety of different approaches to get the information across; including practice papers, classroom quizzes, interesting games and online sites with exercises to test knowledge.  She is very good at simplifying information and delivering it in a way her students can understand.  My son regularly tells me that Lucy explains things much better than the teachers at school and the improvement in his recent mock grades reflect this! Lucy has a unique way of engaging her students and goes above and beyond to provide them with the physical information they need, and the motivation and confidence to do well in the subject. My son loves his weekly tutoring sessions and thanks to Lucy, now really enjoys science and has chosen to do Biology as one of his A-levels.

Lucy is an incredible tutor! She taught my daughter for three years , gearing up to GCSE exams at the end of Y11. As a result of the tuition, my daughter's Science grades increased significantly. More importantly - Science became from something sincerely disliked to great fun! The lessons with Lucy were looked forward too and thoroughly enjoyed. My daughter was doing online science quizzes, set up by Lucy, during the week, in anticipation of the Friday lesson, because she suddenly enjoyed science (especially Biology) but also because she genuinely liked Lucy and wanted to please her. They developed a wonderful bond and friendship which made Science enjoyable and when you enjoy something, you usually become good at it and the results come naturally. Lucy is magic and not because she teaches science so well (I suppose many tutors can do this) but because she inspires her students to love it - and not many people can do this!

Lucy has been a great support to my daughter who is a year 13 Biology A level student. Much of her A levels have been spent in lockdown however Lucy has provided her with the motivation to keep going, helping her challenge herself and provided valuable feedback in order to improve her knowledge and test results. Lucy is very approachable and teaches with patience and calmness.

I have 3 children that attend. It is the best decision I have made to support my children to be ahead in their learning. It is a brilliant place for children to grow and learn in a positive environment while bridging any gaps that are often not covered at school. The teaching approach is excellent and the instructors are always helpful and encouraging to my children. Teachers at school are now praising my children because they are excelling in their academics. The difference is so clear. First Class Learning is a great place and value for money.
