The Best Golf Courses in Bisterne, Hampshire, United Kingdom (2025)

My son (HC6) and myself (HC12) played 3.34pm tee midweek. Although we played on a windy damp afternoon, we really enjoyed the course. It was immaculately presented from the off, very good tee boxes, well defined fairways and great greens. Well worth the green fee, we booked through golf now and saved significantly from the club price.

This is a lovely place to play golf. Pro shop and clubhouse very welcoming and the catering good, plentiful and reasonably priced. The fairways are well covered and generous and the greens are very good, some borrows and slopes quite subtle, others not so subtle. Not overly long, the fairways are quite generous but there is plenty of woodland to assist in losing the ball. Most greens are well bunkered but the sand is good and consistent. We really enjoyed it. Dull day but that didn't detract.

Been a member here for a little while now, and so glad to be a part of the club! The course is absolutely stunning, even through the winter months. Everyone is very friendly, the facilities are great, and they are constantly investing money back in. It's not a massively long course, but still a very testing layout. Plenty of well placed bunkers, streams and forest to contend with. The greens, which are some of the best around, are very tricky, and you are rarely left with a straight putt. 5* for me so far!

One of the best courses I’ve played on in the area. It’s really well kept and looked after. Friendly members and well run bar. The course has 2 long par 4s, but present other challenges on the shorter holes so provides a good balance. If you play in the mornings and evenings you’ll often find deer wandering the course.

Great golf course with friendly staff and members

A lovely golf club which is very welcoming. Not sure if the pannaging pigs in the bunkers are movable or immovable objects though?!?

I had a great time playing this course. Props to the green keepers and wildlife that work in synergy to maintain the course with a combination of machinery and grazing. It was a pleasure to play a course that wasn’t overly manicured and seemed to blend into the natural environment it inhabits. The friendly ponies roaming the course made for a different experience and there is a good mix of holes surrounded by some unforgiving gorse that rewards the player that plots their way safely around course. The staff were friendly and I would thoroughly recommend playing this course!

What a beautiful course, in the heart of the New Forest. Some quirky holes with blind tee off's.. Quick greens and undulating fairways make for a fair challenge, certainly will return 👍⛳

II absolutely loved it, excellent value for money. Played two rounds while I was on holiday. The scenery is stunning, with wild horses running everywhere, beautiful. The staff were very friendly, and other than a few hoof prints on the greens, the courses are in good condition :-)

Really good course & requires a different set of skills.(lots of chip & run/putter action) Fairways are wide & the grass is really short. Greens lovely & nice scenery……you get a few Forest ponies walking about but they cause no issues. Clubhouse really friendly & welcoming.

Great little course and you rarely play from a flat lie which will improve your game. Several par fours that are reachable in one for the bigger hitters but enough tricky holes to keep it interesting. No lush fairways as it’s a Forest course, but ‘pick and place’ all year round. I’d give the course a 7/10, but the clubhouse and the members a good 9/10. The affordability of a round and the wildlife make it well worth a visit.

Some great holes As with other courses where cattle roams, it is very wide open, the fairways are undefined and the greens a touch slow with the odd hoof mark. If that isn’t a deal breaker, this is a very enjoyable golf course. Clubhouse facilities more than adequate.

Had a meal with friends, food and staff were very nice. We did not play golf.

First class course in both condition and presentation. Helpful bar staff as we played late afternoon. Lots of attention to detail, would certainly return.

Sometimes.......... ....... and not very often....... you get to play a course and think.... this is it.. the perfect model for an ideal golf course........ I am lucky, I get to play many different courses all over the UK, Europe and parts of the US. Ferndown is a first...... the first time I have found that perfect model. Our welcome started before we even got to the course, an interchange of email with Sue Helliker, and a sound, solid, honest but polite response. The welcome on check in in the pro shop. An excellent breakfast in a very nice surroundings . A very welcoming, course starter who was informative and helpful without being some overbearing " dont do this dont do that" individual. Members who got stuck behind us, who kept checking we knew where we were going, and were clearly more interested in making sure we were enjoying our golf, rather than holding them up. The course itself is a gem, difficult / tricky, without being impossible, bad shots punished, without losing a ball, good shots rewarded. Shorter holes that really made you think about club selection, well protected greens and hazards / bunkers well placed in landing zones, greens that were both difficult and consistent. Could I pick a "weak" hole, no chance. So from a visitor who cant wait to return a big thank you, to the staff and the members we met alike, all of whom, seemed to be so rightly proud of this wonderful experience.

We have had our annual group members (for 80 members, though we could easily fill more places) afternoon cream tea at Crane Valley for the past 3 years. Every year they provide the same superb food and service. Nothing is to much trouble for the staff, the facilities are top notch with the 80 place function room with bar and lounge area with views over the scenic golf course down to the lake. Highly recommended.

Lovely course, well prices, friendly staff and members. When taking all into account I am giving this 5 stars. The course itself is good quality with a proper length to the par 4 and 5 holes. Greens are immaculate and quick. It's not quite a championship course but given it's £13 for a twilight round if you prebook on the website it's great value. Even peak time rounds come in at under £30. The clubhouse is nice. Good selection of drinks and a nice area to sit a chill after a round. There is an outside patio nearly completed right by the 18th green which will be superb on a warm day/evening. Staff and members are very friendly and helpful. I will play here time and time again.

Teriffic round at Crane Valley GC. Played like a donkey, but that wasn't down to the course, which wasn't long, but was technical in places. Hit some good shots, but also some shockers, think I should have left the putter in the car too ! Enjoyable course, even in the drizzle !

Lovely course, obviously lots of work gone into it recently, well manicured fairways and lovely treacherous greens. First and second cuts a little too long perhaps, finding a ball just off the Fairway took a bit too long. Very nice clubhouse. Lovely catering. Too many scuffed drives, chopped chips and poorly putts though. Luckily today they belonged to someone else 😁, liked the chickens.

Lovely little course nestled away in the country. Quiet and peaceful with gorgeous, fast playing greens with some wide fairways with challenging protected Par 3s. Highly recommend.

A lovely little course in a beautiful setting

This is a great course for beginners, seniors, juniors or anyone with mobility issues that still want to be able to play the game. It’s also a good place to practice through the winter months when other courses become too muddy to play. I’m a single figure handicap and usually carry just 4 or 5 clubs and make the most of the course, leave the driver at home 3/4 iron is plenty here. Theres not much scope to improve or lengthen the course other than to put another few holes in another field. I’d love to see that, would be a good candidate for the 12 hole golf course, although unlikely.

We visited the NF Adventure Golf which is a well laid out and maintained crazy golf course. The holes are quite hard as there are a lot of slopes around but the course is innovative and the Isle of Wight ferry which takes you over the streams is pure magic. Good price as well. You can buy refreshments there

Good mini golf course, well maintained, brilliant features based on the local area, especially the mini Wight link ferry, great fun.

So much fun playing the mini golf. Was a shame one of the holes was closed but you got a discount on the full price because of this. Best to get here early as does get very busy on a nice day. Much better than a lot of other outdoor mini golfs in the area.

Had a great time, excellent fun! Enjoyed looking out for the special features of each hole (like a treasure hunt), loved the ferry and enjoyed a delicious refreshing ice cream at the end 😋🍦

I recently ran a Mental Health and Small Business - One Day Conference at Test Valley Golf Club and can't truly express how impressed I was with everything from the venue, to the catering, to the level of service. From the moment I enquired, Maria and Molly made me feel welcome and wanted to ensure they could accommodate as much as was feasible to create an event just as I had envisioned. The preparation and support provided was second to none. On the day, the food was excellent, the room was perfectly arranged and no dietary requirements or additional requests were too much trouble. They were so attentive and I can not wait to book our next event with them.

This course is easily one of the best in Hampshire its playable all year round due to it having great drainage and being based on chalk. The greens are in prefect condition all year round, much needed development is happening and its making the course stunning to look at aswell as to play. The club is very welcoming and has a very mixed age group with great attention payed to younger players to get them into golf. I also got married at the club and every part of the day was so well organised and put together. Test valley really is a great club.

Nice course and not outrageously expensive. Greens are pretty consistent although some of the fairways are a bit lumpy and can give some random bounces. That's my excuse anyway.

I have played here over the years and recently twice. The staff are all polite, friendly and helpful. I rely on them to pass on my compliments to the kitchen crew for excellent meals, and the greens staff for a well maintained course. Not the cheapest but certainly best value for money on a society day out.

Played today, 13th April. Course was in fantastic condition with fast, true greens. Very technical course in places. Well worth a visit if you're in the area!!

The 5 hole pitch and putt is brilliant with kids. It is harder than it looks for non-golfers thou! They also have free table tennis tables (borrow t the bats and balls from the golf shop). 3 tables so easy to get a table.

Played here today as a 4 ball.....course was lovely, been here plenty of times, but not for sometime! Greens really good, fairways had what looked like wild pig areas, where they had been dug up and damaged by the creatures. Given this is a municipal course it's brilliant, the workers do an amazing job. The negatives for me are the fact that other players, whether a member or a pay and play visitor there is absolutely no need to be so lazy to not repair your pitchmarks, or rake the bunker when you've hacked your 1st or 4th attempt out! They've left masses of rakes out there, it's literally a 4m walk to a rake use the thing and replace it. It really is not hard, COVID is no longer an excuse! Likewise divots, replace them....if you don't then I hope you find your drives in every one of them on day 2 when you're leading the first day of the club championship. Yes a rant, but in no way at the club or anyone who has the decency to tidy up after themselves.... It is for all those who think as it's a cheaper course they're entitled to hack it up and leave it to the staff to fix. Grow up and fix it yourself you lazy gits!

Excellent course you won't find a better golf course in this area for £26 unbelievable standard of greens and tees were top notch I've played many courses that charge 60 -100 that would be shamed against this course 100% RECOMMEND!

Lovely course, a typical wintery day with murky clouds and it was pretty windy in some exposed places. I really enjoyed the variety of elevated tees, blind tee shots, water hazards and the views are stunning. I look forward to visiting again in the Summer months !!!

We are members anyway, and to be honest it's a very special place to visit. The sea view, Christchurch Bay, Needles in full view of, is stunning! Brendan for us being front of house, he is absolutely key to our experience, very witty, very hard working and attentive, along side a great team effort in general. We love it here, and will be forever regular visitors.

Best welcome to date…beautiful link course, with the Isle of Wight views. A big shout of to Christie in the pro shop who went up and beyond to help my partner and I find a good place for NYE. Also Graham Pole for his generosity in buying us a pint after our first game here, as the bar was closing with only cash payments. We will defiantly be back to play the final 9 soon. Sam & James 😃

Played Stroller & Needles. Both incredible views and challenging holes. Stroller better of the two and harder. Lots of bunkers and some difficult hole layouts on both. Greens were a1. Clubhouse really cool. Just a fun place to play and challenging. Lots of par 5s and long challenging ones. The bunkers need the sand loosening though because they were almost all playing really shallow and hard and it was hard to take sand. Most of the sand underneath top thin layer was compacted, not loose. Apart from that it was awesome. This place is amazing and such a cool quirky club. Will definetly be returning at some point with other family/friends. Thanks a lot
