The Best Golf Courses in Southsea, Hampshire, United Kingdom (2025)

Been to this cause as a child, young adult and now with my own children. Great introduction to golf or practise course. Other than the holes being close together and needing to watch out for flying balls coming towards you this is a great course for a 30 min game.

Had a lovely round of golf here, I recommend for a calm game on a sunny day!

What a lovely place! The friendliest and most helpful staff. Honestly one of the best afternoon teas I’ve had. Fresh, generous and good quality produce and the most tastiest scones I’ve ever had! Absolutely loved it. I’d love to return to try lunch or Sunday carvery some day soon!! Thank you so much for a lovely afternoon!! 😀

Afternoon tea was a birthday pressie. Never been to this venue before, lovely setting overlooking the golf course. Staff very welcoming and hot drinks (unlimited refills) served straight away with food following soon after. All looked delicious. My only critisism would be the size of the sandwiches. Personally I would have preferred them to be dainty finger sandwiches and perhaps without the extras, i.e. picalilli, cranberry sauce, which are not to everyones taste. That said, we had a lovely afternoon and I am returning for lunch with a group of friends next month. Thank you.

My daughter treated me to a high tea at southwick golf club today for my birthday . What a wonderful treat this turned out to be . The sandwiches were perfect the cakes and scones were perfect we asked for coffee rather than tea and it was a delightful coffee . The lady that took care of us was so friendly and just the best host . To say we were all impressed is an understatement. It was a beautiful place with fantastic views to look out on fantastic service and fantastic high tea can't recommend this place enough we will definitely be returning. All I can say is thank you you catered for 4 generations my mum my me my daughter and my grandson and we all had the best time .

I went there for a birthday meal, the food was amazing, it was a roast and the roast potatoes were perfect. I would thoroughly recommend them as their service was friendly and professional. The view from the club house is spectacular too.

A great and challenging golf course. The greens are outstanding and extremely well maintained. If you’ve not played here for a few years you must return to experience the improvements; bunkers are beautifully manicured and the drainage work has done wonders to the course in the wetter months. The new head chef (previously of The Briny) has created an exciting new menu too.

Gosh how good are the greens for this time of year! Looking forward to the better weather. Club house food can be a bit naff! Not the case today! took the friendly recommendation of club sandwich. Fantastic taste and value. I joked was it made with “Love” she confirmed it was. This combined with a great coffee was outstanding! I will be back.

I booked a club fitting with Lee as I wanted to upgrade my irons. I have never done so before but was advised to do so. I thought it was excellent. Lee was very helpful and knowledgeable. He guided me through the process without any pressure whatsoever. . It wasn’t long before I found a club and shaft that I favoured and even after deciding on this club, Lee introduced a couple of other brands near the end of the fitting for me to try just to make sure that I was happy with my choice. I am delighted with my new irons and I would highly recommend that anyone who is unsure of the benefits of a fitting to book an appointment. I think you will be delighted with the attention that you will receive and be even more happy with the results. Thank you once again Lee for you help

Have been using the driving range here for a couple years but never played the course until today. Took my son round. He's 16 and just getting into it, i am picking it back up after a 17 year hiatus. The course is absolutely perfect for us. Some interesting challenges but on the whole, a pretty forgiving course. Not too long but not a cinch unless you're moderately long and straight off the tee, which neither of us are. We're going to come back next week and will probably end up getting a season ticket. It's a perfect first course for my son and I while we build (rebuild in my case) our game. Still can't believe I've never played it before, I live 10 minutes away!!

So Golf can be expensive and played by those who can afford crazy prices on equipment and membership. NOT AT THIS PLACE! It's a great public course with some amazing facilities, all the staff are very helpful and polite. What a great place. 6 out of 5 rating from your local baseball and softball club.

This is a great course for beginners, seniors, juniors or anyone with mobility issues that still want to be able to play the game. It’s also a good place to practice through the winter months when other courses become too muddy to play. I’m a single figure handicap and usually carry just 4 or 5 clubs and make the most of the course, leave the driver at home 3/4 iron is plenty here. Theres not much scope to improve or lengthen the course other than to put another few holes in another field. I’d love to see that, would be a good candidate for the 12 hole golf course, although unlikely.

Lovely little course nestled away in the country. Quiet and peaceful with gorgeous, fast playing greens with some wide fairways with challenging protected Par 3s. Highly recommend.

We got married at Skylark on Sunday 26th May - We cannot explain how amazing everything was! We haven't stopped talking about our special day and how Skylark did everything so perfectly! We had so many lovely compliments on the food, the team and the whole running of the day. Someone even said it was the prettiest wedding venue they had ever been to, which we couldn't agree with more! We wanted to say a huge thank you to you and the team at Skylark for making everything so special for us. From the moment we booked, the wedding and events team were incredibly professional and supportive, answering every one of my many many questions. Shortly after we booked our wedding, it was announced that Skylark was being put into administration, this was understandably concerning but the team were there to support us at every stage of the planning process and made us feel 100% more relaxed! A special shout out to Amy who made the initial stages for wedding planning so exciting and effortless! She went off to have a baby which is equally as exciting but we felt sad that we'd lost her. Thankfully we were assigned to Elly (Events Manager) and we instantly knew we were in safe hands. Elly ensured our day ran perfectly and truly was the day we'd dreamt of. During the evening, Jason took over and was amazing. Regularly checking in with both of us to ensure we were okay and making any necessary changes. We cannot explain how thankful we are for everyone at Skylark.

I ran a charity golf day at Skylark, with 88 people attending the event. From start to finish, the staff at Skylark were fantastic, starting with Shannon in the Pro Shop and filtering through to the bar staff and hospitality staff serving the food and drink. The course itself was in immaculate condition and the area provided for the meal and award presentation was of more than ample size, with outdoor seating either end too. This was my 5th charity golf day, was by far the smoothest and well run, thanks to all the support from the course. Will 100% be returning next year. Mark

Went for brunch here on daughters birthday in the restaurant/ cafe area. Had a great time! Weather was nice and sunny so we sat outside. Food was good and served promptly with no fuss. Would definitely go back again.

Very reasonably priced to use the driving range, and also great quality and well respected equipment and facilities.

Brilliant golf course. Well kept and maintained. Some lovely holes ⛳️ Only bad thing I can say is a few of the ball cleaners need removing or repairing.

Really good value for money. The golf club has a 9 hole course which had greens that ran true and there was actual sand in the bunkers. The pro shop is large and even has some indoor bays, which I admit I didn’t get around to seeing. There is a driving range and the on-site cafe did great food. On the course itself I’d say there are some holes that stand out but it’s a bit bland in its setting for the most part. That being said, I will be back again for certain.

Wow what a stunning links set up. Tough as you like. A proper test of golf. Greens are super quick, bunkers are faultless fairways are tight and the rough is punishing. Definitely be back. But today with the wind the course crushed our group.

Excellent course - true links. Great shape. Fair. Played in 20 yard wind, sideways rain, full sun....would come back in a heartbeat (and for the record I think the middle 5/6 holes are incredibly strong).

Mark, the Pro was amazing! Golf isn’t an easy game, but to have the skills and ability to make it simple for me to understand, is outstanding. Mark, has been able to make the complicated simple and golf really enjoyable. Super friendly team combined with an outstanding golf course, make this a top 10 golf venue to visit. The course is in immaculate condition, while others get stuck in the mud. I felt like It was a lush spring day. I will be back, as looking forward to see the investment in the course lands.

This is a proper links and a tough track. We were lucky enough to play it on a calm day and you still needed your driving game to be in good shape to make the fairways. Some great holes and no bad ones - unsure why Hayling doesn't rate higher in all those Top 50's etc. For my money it's the best links between Rye and Saunton in the South of England. Add to that a lovely clubhouse with great balcony views and friendly welcome with none of the stuffiness of some of the better known courses. Well worth a day trip from London and good value for money for the quality of golf and conditioning of the course.

Visited the driving range today which had about 10 under cover bays. Ranged distance looked under 200y so not the best place to unlease the driver, there was two nets outside to over come this. There is also a chipping area which contained a bunker and a putting green, which i was told I was welcome to use. Reason for not giving it for 5 stars, no automatic ball loaded for the tees, had to use my own tees for the mats. Over all a very nice place which i will be using again soon.

Yesterday we hired this venue for a baby shower event and to quote our guests 'this was the classiest baby shower they had ever been to'. All the team at the club couldn't do enough to help - the room decor was perfectly matched, the afternoon tea delicious and the general setting and atmosphere around the club made the event go perfectly. Thoroughly recommend this venue hire for special occasions.

Good Top Tracer range upgrade, friendly golf club and staff! I would say one of the best value for money clubs in the area. The course is improving year on year.

Amazing fun and friendly staff. If you get a hole in one when returning your ball you get a free round! Definitely coming back in the future.

Two courses of 9 holes and you can do one or both. We did the full 18. Some good holes and possibilities of a hole in one. Well recommended especially when it isn't too busy.

Nice little pirate themed crazy golf the kids loved it and it was a reasonable price would definitely recommend and definitely go again and the staff were very friendly and welcoming
