The Best Golf Courses in Selborne, Hampshire, United Kingdom (2025)

Very good Golf course and given the conditions (near freezing and a small bit of rain), thought the course held up really well. Unfortunately, we were on temporary greens but that is not a fault of the club. Not the longest of courses but still a good test of Golf, there are many greens with false fronts. It seems And can imagine that you do have to be very accurate with approach shots. Would love to come back again in the spring or summer to really see what the course is like.

This is really a great experience, not a long course but you need to think through every shot. Not one hole the same. Very attractive as well as a top test.

A hidden gem. A Harry Colt masterpiece: not long, not hilly but requiring accurate shot placement. In immaculate condition.

Really nice course, well kept, challenging for all abilities yet fun. Members were also welcoming. Recommend playing here if you have the chance, really well looked after. I'll be returning when I've lost the sh**ks too!

I haven’t played all of them obviously, but I would say that this is one of the best courses I’ve experienced in England. Stunning greens and fairways like carpets, the course is well maintained by a team who know what good looks like and are passionate about golf. A real treat.

Great golf course, dry and in good condition even in winter. Only negatives are the proximity of the road and the need to cross it twice. Clubhouse bar has some great beers and the carvery lunch is very good.

We played the course today, and what a treat it was. I work as a maintenance contractor for many prestigious Surrey golf courses and I have played some of the best courses in the UK. I just played Formby last week. I have to say the condition of the course was better than any higher ranking courses in the area. I was absolutely blown away by how true and firm the greens were. The fairways, tees and aprons. 5 * condition. The course manager and his team have a clear passion for what they do. Absolute class. Esp for the time of year and the amount of rain we have had recently. Even the heather was better maintained than neighbouring courses. The new holes and layout have been so well executed you would never know which ones they are, but they have made the course so much better. The rye grass walk ways are a thing of beauty as well. Nothing is wanting here. I’m not sure why the course hasn't got a higher ranking in the top 100?

Great driving range - screens work well… lots of bays, and affordable. Bonus is the pizza you can order - with the buzzer when ready system. Nice putting green too.

Absolutely brilliant. Clean tidy, well looked after. Great lessons with Peter. Played the par 3 course today, for £6 you can't complain. The greens are only astro but non the less brilliant practice course. Great for kids to play/practice on.

No frills golf range, which does what it says on the tin. However the gem here is the attached shop, it doesn't carry a huge range of products, but is staffed by truly knowledgeable experts, who will give you advice with no pressure of a sale. For example if you had a fitting, but didn't have a huge budget they would happily advise you what to buy second hand, and then adjust it for you. They also have the latest technology available for lessons and fittings.

Help yourself set up. Pay by card or by coins, and they have a note converter to coins. You have to bring your own clubs or you can buy second hand clubs at the office for £10. Although it wasn't open at 6pm. Popular with proper golfers, however the technology makes it fun with games like closest to the pin. Good value at £8 for 105 balls, lasted just over 1 hour with 2 people

William has really George, he has patience and really helps him focus on the drill at hand. I'd highly recommend the academy and George as coach, to any parent who'd like to get their child interested in Golf!

Booked some lessons with Steve to help me with my short game . Real eye opener Steve has so much knowledge but simplified the lessons so it is much easier to grasp. Will be booking more lessons in the new year Keith benstead

Really enjoying the Learn to Play course. Scott is patient, friendly, very clear in his instruction and encourages you to do well. Highly recommend.

Excellent session with Scott. Having not played much golf in recent years (plenty in previous 30 or so), it was time to get back in to it and get some professional help before thinking about a full round. Great swing tuition with a few faults needing corrected to see if I can produce more consistent shots (goal 1), Followed by an even better session on putting which has always been my downfall. With an adjusted grip and brilliant teaching, somewhat amazed at the results in just a few minutes (goal 2). This has given me some great confidence to do plenty of practice before heading out on the course ahead of a planned trip to Florida where golf will feature quite heavily ! Have used Alresford GC for many years with my society. The club house has recently been refurbished and is now an excellent venue and the food options are very reasonable and the staff are very attentive. The golf course we played in April 2023 was in excellent condition and the greens were unbelievable for this time of the year. If not played it’s highly recommended.

We visited here with our Society. A very good course, well maintained and the food was also extremely good. Feedback from our Society’s members was 100% positive. We will be booking next year and many years to come

Nice, well maintained course with friendly welcome for visitors. Drains well, so recommended for winter/Spring in particular. Some challenging holes, particularly those hitting to elevated greens, often with good bunkering too. Some of the “newer” holes further from the clubhouse were less interesting - they are well established after several decades but lacked a bit of character. Nice terrace to catch some sun and watch balls trickle off the tricky final green.

Very welcoming and friendly club - we booked a 2 ball at 1330 hrs slot on late January Saturday PM following a club roll up and managed to play 15 holes but were only asked to play for 9. For those keen to get some exercise this course offers a great work out although good situational awareness required when crossing fairways - some assistance is required for course navigation on back 9 although club members very willing to oblige! Will definitely return in the summer to enjoy this course in optimum condition. Great VFM.

Recently become a member after some really pleasant rounds there. Lovely course & the 18 they have done a good mix with what they have. Clubhouse very friendly. Sadly broke my leg weeks after joining, that being said they were incredibly supportive and responsive as well as flexible. It’s appreciated and look forward to being healed and back using the club.

Friendly golf club who go out of their way to please visitors. They do a great breakfast as well! Course is good if not too challenging so ideal first stop on a tour to the New Forest areas.

Lovely little course nestled away in the country. Quiet and peaceful with gorgeous, fast playing greens with some wide fairways with challenging protected Par 3s. Highly recommend.

This is a great course for beginners, seniors, juniors or anyone with mobility issues that still want to be able to play the game. It’s also a good place to practice through the winter months when other courses become too muddy to play. I’m a single figure handicap and usually carry just 4 or 5 clubs and make the most of the course, leave the driver at home 3/4 iron is plenty here. Theres not much scope to improve or lengthen the course other than to put another few holes in another field. I’d love to see that, would be a good candidate for the 12 hole golf course, although unlikely.

Lovely course in great condition. Played for the first time recently with 3 friends after Old Thorns (which was also lovely, but with some challenging holes). Shame spikes not allowed on the balcony!?

I was invited by a friend and member of this club, Played today with 3 friends, Wednesday 5th of June, 2024 This is my opinion of the course, club house staff and members I met in the car park. The course was flawless !!!! The tees were flat well looked after really tidy and big enough to change positions 7 time a week, The fairways were beautifully cut and no sign of a weed on any of the fairways, The aprons were very good, And as for the greens, Well great cut great roll incredible breaks tricky to read but really enjoyable, The clubhouse, Excellent ! Comfortable, clean, tidy and great views. Staff are polite, friendly and welcoming. Other members we bumped into were friendly and welcoming. A Great job by one and all. Greens Staff great work guys. I would be so proud if I were a member of this club !!!!

Although it was winter season this course was in excellent condition. The club staff were superb. Very friendly and proud of their club and course. We will definitely visit again. If I lived here I'd be proud to be a member of Petersfield Golf Club.

A wonderful course ⛳️. Visited as a guest and was very pleasantly surprised. Both the tee-boxes and greens were immaculate. Some really good challenging holes, made more tricky by the fast pace of the greens. Had a great time on the corse and will definitely recommend. Only 4 stars as booking the time proved very challenging, as the phone was never answered, the clubhouse was shut when we finish at around 7pm, and the old boy in the club shop was rude and disrespectful, especially to a visitor who they should be trying to impress not belittle.

Very warm welcome from staff and a nice 9 hole course. Will definitely be returning for more games in the future..
