I’m not a “golfer” but enjoy a game here with my kids every now and then. Its relaxed and very welcoming and nine holes is enough without being tiresome. Its also very pretty and easy to get to.

I joined the club back in April and after two months I can confidently say that I look forward to being a member for many many years to come. The courses are both incredible, really well laid out and very well kept. The courses are both quite challenging but really quite beautiful to walk around and there is always plenty of wildlife to spot! The clubhouse is a lovely building that's rather spacious and seating inside and outside is plentiful. The food is great, the chips are literally perfect (real crispy and golden on the outside but still fluffy in the middle!) and the JOG burger is a great all rounder. Pints are pretty cheap compared to other bars/pubs in the area too (none of this £5 a pint nonsense). The management are very helpful and send out weekly updates on competitions, how the club is developing and it's great to be able to see the continuous improvements made over the last months (and with more in the works). Would happily recommend to anyone! PS: Try the dirty fries!

Top quality golf courses make for a great day out. Welcoming staff and good choice of reasonably priced food. Well worth a visit.

Really nice course with friendly staff.

This is a mature and well maintained course. It's a good challenge for most players. The pro-shop is well stocked and the staff here are most helpful. The club house has good changing facilities on the ground floor and a smart bar and restaurant can be found on the first floor. The restaurant has a large balcony/terrace overlooking the course, giving users a most pleasant experience whilst they dine. There is a large car park and easy access directly off the A10.

Brilliant course, best in the region. Really friendly staff. Greg Smith made me feel very welcome in the pro shop and always seems keen to be helpful. Great greens, which seem to improve every year I go.

I was really quite surprised with the location of this course. I traveled through a really busy Watford town center, turned a couple of corners and then find the course tucked behind a residential estate. However having arrived at the clubhouse it feels miles from anywhere, and was really quiet to play on. The club house was really clean and well maintained. Following the path around behind the club towards the pro shop and first tee you pass a really expansive putting green and a smaller chipping area. I played using a discount voucher so thought it great value but I'm not sure if the standard pay and play fee is such a good deal. I arrived a bit late so didn't have time to use the practice range but managed to hit a few balls in the practice nets before having a quick putt. The putting green gave a good indication of the greens in general and although they were a bit slower than I'm used to they were true with and in good condition providing a consistent roll. The course itself is a friendly parkland course with pretty much all the holes playing as you see them with not too many challenges. The whole course is tree lined with some scrub in places causing the odd lost ball. The fairways are actually all pretty wide and were in a great condition (and just for a change i managed to hit most of them!). As for the greens they were all fairly friendly with not too many challenging pin placements or horrible breaks to contend with. The best hole for me was the short par 4 8th which runs down hill towards a dip on the left with trees on the right. Not being a big hitter it gave me a nice lay up approach wood for a pitch onto the green. The only hole to let the course down was the 16th which is a par 3 playing a blind shot down to a cratered green over a well placed marker. It has a very generous landing area and despite having shot my approach well right of target, I was still left with a greenside pitch onto the putting surface having expected to be in the rough. Overall a very nice course not overly challenging. Probably the best thing was at the end of the day having finished and being able to see the members and juniors making the most of the practice area. Clearly a family friendly club with good facilities and a course that would suit most golfers and as of this moment in great condition.

Enjoyable course but at least three of the greens were in a dire state. I see from another post of one month ago that these greens are temporary but they don't appear to have improved or grown out since that time. Frustrating to see your ball being diverted by the numerous ridges on these greens. When I mentioned it to a staff member he just shrugged his shoulders. Not quite the standards I expected as the fees for non members are not cheap but still an enjoyable game of golf nonetheless.

Fantastic golf course, picturesque greens, and fairways. State of the art range to practice your game. The clubhouse/restaurant is super modern and spotlessly clean. The food was really tasty and the service was excellent. I'll definitely be coming back for more.

Lovely gym facilities overlooking the course. Plenty of parking, food is nice and always good for sneaky coffee. 9 hole par 3 is fun and the 18 is also a good challenge. Well looked after club

Winter isn’t the best here as it needs more grass cover on the fairways. But in summer it’s great!! The course is maturing well. It’s still a young course. But see this place getting better and better every year I play. Worth the trip down. Twilight rates are best in the area.

So, it was the venue we used for a surprise party for a childhood friend. The venue was recommended by one of us who had visited before and enjoyed her experience there. Initially getting to book the room, tie down the date and time as well as make payment was a little struggle. They were unavailable to answer our queries due to staffing issues. At the time, someone was off sick and they were short-staffed. Once this was resolved it was smooth sailing all the way. We booked the date, time, room, and then made payments. Got confirmation of the booking. Sorted out the menu options for our guests, the layout of the room and decorations and colour scheme and that was it really! We did not need to do anything they took care of it. On the day, we arrived to see a beautifully decorated room. The staff went over and beyond our expectations. They were courteous and professional, and so helpful, we were all blown away! The surprise was a success and we had so much fun! The end was lovely. They cleared up after us and helped us pack our stuff into the cars. My friends and I were impressed with the exceptional service we received. The food was so lovely, we all enjoyed it. Even though we were running late,(it was difficult to get the celebrant out of the house 😅) the chef and staff were very understanding and accommodating. The meal time was pushed back 30 minutes and then forward 15 minutes because of the surprise time and the celebrant! They accommodated us effortlessly! Amazing 👏 service. I have a wedding planner friend whom I will be bringing back to this venue so she can add them to her list of lovely venues for parties and weddings in London. Thank you to all the team who worked brilliantly to make our friend's 50th birthday surprise party memorable. We are so grateful to have used this place. I am definitely going back there again!

First time playing at The Hertfordshire and it didn't disappoint. The staff in the pro shop were very welcoming and the shop itself had a decent collection on offer. The course was in great condition. The greens were true from one hole to the next and gave great confidence with the putter knowing you could trust the roll. The rough was tough. Quite thick and grabby but a fair punishment for being off line. Overall a brilliant course and a great challenge with all sorts of holes on offer. Not too long, not too short. I shot 90 which was slightly better than average for me if it helps give a guide as to how you might get on.

First time at the club today. Taken here by my 82 year old neighbour, who is a member here. Ain't played for 20 years lol Tried driving range, putting green, was welcomed by, professional, friendly staff, had a cup of tea at the bar, watched Olympics, lovely place to be. Definitely going back, will review food and try a round of golf ⛳️ Easy parking, disabled access, beautiful surroundings. Highly recommend so far, update ASAP.

Very friendly clubhouse with reasonable priced food and drinks, the course was in good condition for November large open fairways with firm fast greens. Be aware this is a very hilly course but great fun, a couple of the Tees were quite close to the greens and some were quite a walk, 3 off us managed to get round in 4hrs 5mins. Great experience well worth a look.

Probably one of the toughest challenges of golf in the area. The weather dictates how well you play. Not for the faint hearted and it helps if your fit as the hills are steep and the greens are windswept and fast. Go back to the club house for a bite to eat and drink as the staff are welcoming and the view across Therfield Heath is to die for from the terrace.

Challenging course and very hilly. I played 50% over my handicap. A couple of the par 3’s look like the holes have been forced as they are in quite steep valleys. Overall decent value but make sure you go early as the afternoons do get busy.

Possibly one of the nicest courses in Hertfordshire for a society visit. We played here yesterday as part of a society, with the golf only option. Whilst the clubhouse might be slightly dated, the practice facilities and the course however, were really good. The practice green at the front of the clubhouse was in very good condition and was a solid reflection of the actual greens on the course. There was enough slope and length across the green to make challenging putts, with the putting green itself was sufficiently large to enable a number of players to practise without crossover. The chipping area is a little way from the clubhouse with a couple of practice nets close by and again provided a good area for practise prior to the round with a bunker available for those wishing to play in the sand. The driving range at the club caters for both mats and turf interaction which is not something that I have seen before, in a clubs that welcomes society guests. The course is a really nice tree-lined parkland course with enough shape and changes in elevation to the fairways and greens to make it both aesthetically pleasing and a good test of golf. The course bunkers all have the coarse granite like sand and there were no problems with any unexpected bounce from a lack of sand. Trees down the sides off the fairway, provide the majority of challenges for each hole and the ground beneath the majority of these were clear making the finding of balls easy. The second cut beneath them being sufficiently deep to provide an additional difficulty when playing a stroke out of it but did enable players to find their balls which is a good balance of penalty and reward when playing out of them. The fairways were all in good condition with a good coverage of grass. They were, however, in places still a little soft which given the weather in the UK at the moment is hardly surprising and I don't think should be a detrimental point for the club. The greens were pretty level for the majority of the holes with some changes in elevation but nothing that provided a massive sweep whilst you were putting, but were a fair test of skill. The putting surfaces were however in good condition and very consistent. There was very little in the way of damage by pitch marks which shows that the members do appear to care about their club. Some of our society members are actually members at the golf club and the the drinks, prices and food prices are all pretty standard in line with most other clubs in the area. The only downside for the society was that whilst we started off the 10th tee which was not a problem, we are quite a large society and as is usual with these things, pace of play amongst the groups varies. This mean that members of the golf club teed off between society groups as the groups were moving from the 18th to the 1st tee to continue our "back 9" as we had finished the 18th. The club members not realising a society had gone out and were in fact still playing. It would have been nice if there had been some notification for members that a society was playing. It was however only a single group that were interrupted halfway through the field of play and didn't change the appreciation of the course. All in all, a very good day out for a golfing society and I think the club is to be commended for its welcoming of society groups given the standard of the course.

Great experience! The grounds are beautiful and very well maintained with everything you could need. Staff are very attentative, fast and kind. They went above and beyond for everyone in my family and created an overall fantastic experience.

I had been told good things about Letchworth and I wasn’t disappointed. We arrived ahead of the visitor roll up tee times on the weekend just as the course was being closed due to lighting! We decided have lunch on the clubhouse terrace whilst it cleared. There was a true sense of a very friendly club as we mingled with the members ahead of our round. Once on the course we were in for a real treat. The rain stopped and the course was looking amazing, the greens surprisingly firm and fast given the down poor only minutes before. We started on the back 9 finished on the front, both challenging with tree lined fairways. Both my playing partners commented on the quality of the course and also the practice facilities. I know there are a lot of quality courses in Hertfordshire but I expect as more people play this course it will creep up the rankings as it certainly deserves to.

The whole experience for our wedding recently april 2025 was seemless, nothing was too much to organise from the planning stages, through to our big day and running of the day we were behind schedule but wasn't a problem. A massive thankyou and shout out to Gareth, Jim and their team for making our special day wonderful every attention to detail was thought of. We throughly recommend for anyone who is looking for a function or wedding to book here the team are so friendly with the wonderful golf course for pictures as well.
