Lovely medieval Castle with lots of history and beautiful rooms to explore. It has a big deer park to walk, and the deer seem fairly used to people, so you can get a good look at them. The park is dog friendly as long as they are kept on leads. The gardens are nice and well kept, with a maze to go round. Cafe is newly built, I did think it was a little expensive. Plenty of parking.

Park, Castle and plotters forest were all beautiful. My little girl absolutely loved seeing Santa and playing in the gardens and play area which were all decorated for Christmas. A walk in the deer park was also magical. A lovely day out

Stunning place to visit. Beautiful entrance gardens with a fantastic restaurant/cafe with heaps of choice of freshly prepared high quality meals/snacks/cakes etc. The restaurant can be visitors without having to pay to enter the grounds/castle. Lovely shop with some great items/produce on sale. Lots of history all around. Castle deer park grounds extensive offering short or longer walks. A great large walled garden also. Castle itself has lots to see and learn. A stunning building. Plenty of parking even on a busy day. All staff encountered were helpful and friendly. Would definitely return and highly recommend!

We have travelled this area many times over the years but only found out about this hidden gem from a TV program by Robson Green. We really enjoyed our visit. We went around the castle as well as walked all around the grounds and parkland. We had tea and cake in the cafe. It was pricey but well worth it. All the food and sweet treats looked delicious. They have spent money on the gardens, cafe, shop and toilets. Money very well spent. The shop had quality items not the usual tat that these shops often sell. I would definitely recommend a visit here. There is also what looked like a fantastic play area, placed slightly away from the castle. It looked very popular with families with children. It's probably worth further investigation if you have children.

Honestly one of my favourite places I’ve ever visited. The nature here is beautiful, and I would especially recommend going in the autumn months! The bird sanctuary is fab, and the demonstration was super informative! Would definitely recommend for couples and families, there’s so much for kids to do including themed trails such as Halloween trails! If you’re a nature lover like myself, you’ll never want to leave this place!

Enjoyed the trees in their autumn splendour!! Beautiful clean well maintained grounds & great play area plus halloween trail for kids. The lake & house so picturesque & peaceful - a wonderful place for families to spend time out together. The owls’ display was a great experience loved by adults & children👏The Cafe staff so helpful & delicious food we thoroughly enjoyed. Will definitely come back again.

I have been several.times for Halloween, and now came for Xmas!!! I did expect more of a christmas trail round the arboretum, especially over the bog a little tinsel and a few more lights could be added. But the santa experience was brilliant!!!! Definitely recommend!

I received my first order of Hoyas today. It was quite a haul! The packaging was very good, protecting the plants well. The bottom of the box had been placed in a puddle, I think and had created a hole in the cardboard, but the contents were all fine. All the plants, without exception, seem healthy with fresh growth and new leaves. I would recommend Cowell's for Hoyas.

I have had several online orders from Cowell's over the past few months, since I came upon them on the net. The plants I have received have been of excellent quality! There was a time when I purchased cuttings of plants from various 'selling sites' believing it was a cheap option to obtain some of the rarer species. How wrong was I. Cowell's prices are lower and you get a better quality full plant. Their customer service, in my experience, is spot on. I have amended my order by telephone on several occasions with no problem. The plants have been well packaged and arrive in great condition, even in the cold weather! They are quick to dispatch, and my orders have normally been delivered within 48hrs of the dispatch notification. Thank you Cowell's for a great service and great healthy plants! Dave R. Apparently you get a small discount when pre booking, but I still didn't mind paying£11.50 For that you get the hall/ house itself, which has been restored to what it looked like before it was bought by the council. There are also guides in the house to help you with any questions. I am happy how Steven was trying to get me as much information as he could. If you really enjoy these mansions, an hour in the house is a minimum. For the entry charge, so also get to walk in their gardens and a very small zoo, but it's still good to visit. They have penguins and lemurs. And more. Definitely my visit exceeded expectations. I ended my visit by jumping on their road train to the town for£3. Enjoyed that too. The driver was happy to explain where the train is actually going. At least now, September 2024,they have LEGO dinosaurs in the gardens.

Had a fantastic day here. Good value at £11.50 per adult for the house, wonderful gardens and a small zoo. Also great cafe with a proper pot of tea. I had a toasted teacake with plenty of butter and Martin had a lovely cheese panini. Animals in the zoo look well cared for so was good to visit. Highly recommended

An excellent day out for a very reasonable price. The gardens are very pretty and whilst we were there, a dinosaur exhibition was on that was brilliant and made good use of the space. The house itself is worth spending a good amount of time exploring. The staff are particularly helpful to explain its history. A nice cafe on site with plenty of seating indoors and out. The zoo was a highlight with some beautiful animals. A great family day out

It was absolutely great experience! We met and fed the penguins with keeper John and his is great man doing amazing job for these penguins and all other residents of the zoo. Thank you all so much for this amazing experience. Really recommend to visit, you won’t regret!

Extremely pleased with the results! Mel and his team worked hard to fit our new lawn. I originally gave a 4 star review as I felt the sales team were helpful but a bit over zealous at times and chased me for the invoice before the job was finished but I am upgrading this review to a 5 star because the Wonderlawn team got in touch with me weeks after the job to ask what could have been better and really cared about my feedback and making changes! I have noticed the negative reviews but we have had no issues at all and would definitely recommend Wonderlawn to others! The final product is beautiful as shown in the pictures and we are looking forward to spending time out there in the spring!

I would honestly recommend these guys to anyone... they were amazing, they worked hard, long hours, always professional, friendly. They provided me with all the info I needed to maintain the grass going fwd and I like that you deal with one guy before and after (making the customer service flawless) Our grass has transformed our usage of the garden, the kids play on it everyday and just love it. Worth every penny. The product is amazing quality (and beautiful), all the materials they used were top grade there were no short cuts taken and with a 10yr guaranty you cannot go wrong. 5 stars across the board for me, I have 2 friends already going to them since seeing my garden. Our garden had suddenly gone wild and our regular gardener was away - I emailed Ivan and they got back quickly and we’re available a few days later. They were on time, worked efficiently on the hottest of days and transformed the front and back garden. Would use again and highly recommend.

If I could give these guys a 6 star rating I would! Today they laid a perfect new lawn - lush green, as flat as a pancake and totally exceeded my expectations. It looks wonderful. They were very professional, cleared away all weeds and their roots, they did a lot of prepping to the give the turf a base in which to grow and thrive and were polite and considerate at all times. They started and finished within the time frame they gave and provided some very good advice as they left - proper attention to detail. I am delighted with their work and their costs were very competitive too. I would definitely use these guys again.
