I worked here as a volunteer. I love nature a lot so I use my spare time to help build a peaceful atmosphere where people can enjoy the beauty of nature.

I took part in an Forest Schools training course here. The gardens are wonderful and the staff and volunteers as incredibly helpful and knowledgeable.

This place is very cool! We can always do something interesting in this place, different useful jobs, have a nice time. Also we have a good and positive communication in this place. There are very kind and pleasant people work here. It's realy great that we can be part of this community garden!! And also you always can eat delicious fruit and vegetables)))

We used this business to have quite a large patio on the back garden, they were very professional, efficient and would highly recommend, will definitely be using them again in the future

Lee and the guys have completely transformed my garden. Gone went overgrown, weed filled grass and bedding areas. Then they managed to get out the remains of a hefty bush that I’d been unable to remove. And in went a decking area opening up a corner that previous housed a horrible metal shed. They created a raised border area with sleepers, astro-turfed where the grass was and paved on top of the horrible concrete that was previously there. It looks amazing. But more importantly, the guys did all this in 4 days and didn’t cut corners. They arrived by 8.30 each day and worked well into the afternoon. Even on the first day when I was driving back from London, the guys did what they could without access to electric. I couldn’t be happier, and for the first time ever it feels like a proper liveable space I can enjoy with my friends and family.

Well!!! After much searching to no avail was recommended this fab Company and not looked back. We required reliable conscientious & reasonable cost regular lawn mowing work to a v large garden. Excellent communication to & fro and a visit from Jolyon to get this work started. Good price quoted. The chaps been twice, such excellent quick & professional work carried out by these helpful friendly guys, even included the edges wow! So now we’re in the throes of estimates for fence replacements. Well done team and thank you!

Excellent and professional service from Jolyon and his team, with great communication throughout. I needed a rear fence replaced and was so happy with the results that I had the team back for a garden clearance, which was exceptional and has transformed both front and back gardens. Wouldn't hesitate to contact them again when more work is needed.

We have had a wonderful experience with Bestalls transforming our garden. From the first visit with Lee, on a snowy February day, to our bleak disjointed gardens that we rarely spent time in, to the amazing evolution of colour and outdoor spaces that we use so much more - most recently to host our daughter’s wedding that we would never have considered previously. We particularly loved the design video bringing to life Lee’s concepts - not quite believing our gardens could look so good ……..and they do - day and night with a smart lighting scheme Lee, Paula, Jamie and the team do all they can to ensure you are happy with all the various phases the process goes through to completion. We chose to use our own builder for the hard landscaping following Lee’s spec and then Bestalls did the rest. The final completed project more than delivered on Lee’s original design - we love watching it change and develop through the seasons using it more than we had ever done before. A great enhancement to our home that certainly has the wow factor for us. Follow up and After Care is thorough and transparent - you know what is to be done, when and the cost plus a report afterwards. We would have no hesitation in recommending this fabulous team and look forward to an ongoing relationship as the garden matures.

We commissioned Bestall & Co to design and build the Experience Peak District & Derbyshire Show Garden for RHS Chatsworth 2017 on behalf of Marketing Peak District & Derbyshire. The concept and finished garden completely fit the brief that we gave them; it was a great pleasure to overhear visitors to our garden at RHS Chatsworth discuss how the formal Italianate garden and the open pasture, complete with metallic cows, was a great representation of the formal gardens of the area's stately homes and the beautiful open landscapes of the Peak District and Derbyshire. Bestall & Co were a delight to work with, bringing passion and enthusiasm to the project.

Can’t speak highly enough regarding Bestall. I had an urban yard which has been transformed into the coolest secret garden in all of Sheffield’s inner city streets. It is a hidden treasure and the perfect retreat. Right from its inception Bestall have been Fantastic. Starting with Lee as an inspiration to create something special to the developing and maintaining with Jamie and Tom. Aftercare is the jewel in the crown always on hand to tackle any issues n ensure longevity. Love these guys n gals. Charlie.

I can’t speak highly enough of Lee and his team. Lee is a brilliant designer and came up with some really clever ideas for our garden we would never have thought of. He and his team then brought those to life with an impressive 3D animation that meant we could see exactly what the end result would look like. He then guided us through the design process, helping us choose materials and planting schemes that would enable us to stay within budget and still look great. When the time came for the actual work to be done, the team that came to do it were absolutely brilliant - they worked so hard and you could see they took incredible pride in their work and weren’t happy unless it was perfect. Plus they were lovely guys to have around! We kept Lee involved throughout this process and I’m really glad we did...he was on site every week ensuring the garden was being delivered in the way he envisaged and, when little unexpected obstacles arose, he was able again to help come up with smart solutions and advise the landscapers to ensure it all stayed true to the original vision and, crucially, in budget! Big big thanks to Lee and everyone who worked on the project - we are delighted!

This is a little gem of an English Heritage property with a mansion house with a quirky Greek interior which is still in the process of being renovated to a walk through a picturesque quarry leading to the castle. Nothing like I'd expected to see, it's more in keeping with a National Trust probably and certainly well worth a visit, it's a shame English Heritage don't have more little well kept gems like this. It actually has a shop, tea rooms and immaculately clean proper toilets.

A great day out with plenty to see, a great castle with some of the rooms you can enter looking amazing really gave an impression of life living there. The house would be great if it had some furnishings but still a great space. The gardens were fantastic and well kept with extended walks around the area and a good play area for all the family.

Booking online is easy and does say a few pounds. Very sad that the Cafe at the start next to the entrance and near the Hall, was shut the day we went, with no reason given - it really messed up our planned day. The Cafe at the other end, near the Castle, was open but is expensive, it was also too warm inside the day we went and only had a handful of tables outside. Maybe take a picnic with you and sit on the grass by the Castle or kids play area. There was also an ice cream van there. Both the Hall and the Castle are empty, in case you imagined they were like a National Trust place and filled with furniture etc. The Castle is a ruin. Both buildings are well worth looking around but didn’t take a lot of time. There are some lovely flower beds and a good array of different plants, especially when including those in the Quarry Garden. Our main reason for visiting was the Quarry Garden and it didn’t disappoint. It was cool, peaceful and by returning on the other less used pathway, we found a secluded bench on which to sit and eat our sandwiches from the Cafe. It is a great place for a gentle meander both through history & unusual gardens.

Absolutely well worth the visit. The hall itself is so good to walk round, especially with all the information boards around. Really helps you picture what it would have been like in all it's glory. The grounds and quarry garden is absolutely breathtaking so much to see and definitely worth the price.

Apparently you get a small discount when pre booking, but I still didn't mind paying£11.50 For that you get the hall/ house itself, which has been restored to what it looked like before it was bought by the council. There are also guides in the house to help you with any questions. I am happy how Steven was trying to get me as much information as he could. If you really enjoy these mansions, an hour in the house is a minimum. For the entry charge, so also get to walk in their gardens and a very small zoo, but it's still good to visit. They have penguins and lemurs. And more. Definitely my visit exceeded expectations. I ended my visit by jumping on their road train to the town for£3. Enjoyed that too. The driver was happy to explain where the train is actually going. At least now, September 2024,they have LEGO dinosaurs in the gardens.

It was absolutely great experience! We met and fed the penguins with keeper John and his is great man doing amazing job for these penguins and all other residents of the zoo. Thank you all so much for this amazing experience. Really recommend to visit, you won’t regret!

An excellent day out for a very reasonable price. The gardens are very pretty and whilst we were there, a dinosaur exhibition was on that was brilliant and made good use of the space. The house itself is worth spending a good amount of time exploring. The staff are particularly helpful to explain its history. A nice cafe on site with plenty of seating indoors and out. The zoo was a highlight with some beautiful animals. A great family day out

Great place to spend a few hours, parking was free and entry to the animal park was just £4, we thoroughly enjoyed the visit, and the staff we encountered were very helpful. The walled gardens are a treat, even in early November the roses and other flowering plants were still in bloom. Easy access to the cliff tops with good views back to Bridlington and to finish, a smashing cuppa and cake in the on-site Clock Tower Café.

Being 408 miles from Preston I texted Artificial Grass Direct to see whether they would deliver to the North Highlands of Scotland. This was Sunday afternoon and I got an immediate reply saying yes. I then got a call on the Monday to advise that they could deliver to me on Tuesday. I am now in possession of 48 composite decking boards. What a fantastic service. We have travelled this area many times over the years but only found out about this hidden gem from a TV program by Robson Green. We really enjoyed our visit. We went around the castle as well as walked all around the grounds and parkland. We had tea and cake in the cafe. It was pricey but well worth it. All the food and sweet treats looked delicious. They have spent money on the gardens, cafe, shop and toilets. Money very well spent. The shop had quality items not the usual tat that these shops often sell. I would definitely recommend a visit here. There is also what looked like a fantastic play area, placed slightly away from the castle. It looked very popular with families with children. It's probably worth further investigation if you have children.

Lovely medieval Castle with lots of history and beautiful rooms to explore. It has a big deer park to walk, and the deer seem fairly used to people, so you can get a good look at them. The park is dog friendly as long as they are kept on leads. The gardens are nice and well kept, with a maze to go round. Cafe is newly built, I did think it was a little expensive. Plenty of parking.

Stunning place to visit. Beautiful entrance gardens with a fantastic restaurant/cafe with heaps of choice of freshly prepared high quality meals/snacks/cakes etc. The restaurant can be visitors without having to pay to enter the grounds/castle. Lovely shop with some great items/produce on sale. Lots of history all around. Castle deer park grounds extensive offering short or longer walks. A great large walled garden also. Castle itself has lots to see and learn. A stunning building. Plenty of parking even on a busy day. All staff encountered were helpful and friendly. Would definitely return and highly recommend!

Park, Castle and plotters forest were all beautiful. My little girl absolutely loved seeing Santa and playing in the gardens and play area which were all decorated for Christmas. A walk in the deer park was also magical. A lovely day out

I have been several.times for Halloween, and now came for Xmas!!! I did expect more of a christmas trail round the arboretum, especially over the bog a little tinsel and a few more lights could be added. But the santa experience was brilliant!!!! Definitely recommend!

Honestly one of my favourite places I’ve ever visited. The nature here is beautiful, and I would especially recommend going in the autumn months! The bird sanctuary is fab, and the demonstration was super informative! Would definitely recommend for couples and families, there’s so much for kids to do including themed trails such as Halloween trails! If you’re a nature lover like myself, you’ll never want to leave this place!

We recently visited for the Halloween Trail and visited the bird of prey and mammal enclosure. Our granddaughter absolutely loved it. Nice food in the restaurant, though it can get really busy. Lots of areas to explore with lots of photo opportunities. Highly recommended.
