After reading so many positive reviews, we had to try Norman's. However, trying to book a convenient date and time wasn't easy as it is so popular. Eventually booked and visited yesterday evening and we were so glad. It lived up to its excellent reputation, amazing food, first class service and a relaxed, warm ambience. It's currently the number one restaurant on TripAdvisor for Huddersfield and it's certainly worthy of this position. Definitely a venue for repeat visits.

We had been wanting to try Norman's for sometime and decided my Wife's 50th was the perfect opportunity. We visited on Friday 3rd Jan '25, we were warmly greeted and shown to our table. The food arrives Tapas style and honestly we couldn't decide which was our favourite. Great food, great cocktails but what really stands out is the service! Would thoroughly recommend it!

Wonderful meal! A real treat for foodies looking for well-curated and unique dishes. We especially loved the stone bass (expertly cooked) and mackerel tart nibbles. The staff were all lovely and helpful, attentive without being overly so. Perfectly-sized place too. Would love to come again soon and try the new menu rotation!

Fabulous birthday lunch. Staff were super friendly. Food was amazing. Great selection and really difficult to choose as wanted to try everything. We’ll definitely look to return soon. The only thing to make Norman’s even better would be a couple more veggie options.

An absolutely fabulous Sunday lunch here with our two dogs – I can highly recommend - top class on every level. The staff couldn’t have been more welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. They brought water and treats for the dogs without being asked and then we were all looked after beautifully throughout the meal. The atmosphere is very special. The food was out of this world and we both said it was the best Sunday lunch we’ve ever had – haddock as a starter, roast beef for hubbie, sea bass for me, and a shared pudding of crème brûlée. All stunning and delicious Thank you very much for a perfect Sunday lunch - we can’t wait to come back to try all the other lovely looking menus. Just a little sad we live 200 miles away but then perhaps we might have to try the rooms next time!

Have come from south London to visit my wife's relatives and they took us for lunch here. We were greeted by French gentleman who took our drinks and food order and we sat on one of the tables near the bar. I'm so sorry I don't remember this gentleman's name but he was superb so polite and helpful with a great sense of humour. All of the dishes that the 4 of us had were excellent served by really pleasant waiters and waitress. Can't wait to come back when we travel up north again. Many thanks Robert and Jane.

Rating: 4.8 (477) Price Level:

It has taken almost two years - lockdown and all that - for us to find a restaurant that makes us feel like we have a small part of London in Sowerby Bridge of all places. Great service, ridiculously good taste, and superb quality… 🍱 If I could give this place 6 stars, I would. Ate all the food before we could snap a photograph!! Lovely atmosphere. We sat in front of the kitchen, bit too close to the door, but was interesting to watch the kitchen staff. If I could nick-pick on anything from a business perspective, it would be seeing the cooks browse their mobile phones here and there whilst in between service - but that is being really fussy! We were not offered a wine menu and the paper napkins are a small letdown. But being super fussy as I was so impressed by the place, I want it to be even better! The table staff were excellent. We ordered 10+ dishes for 2 adults and one child. Two drinks each = £90. An absolute bargain. Wish I could have sampled all the plates… I will be coming back many times! (April 2023) Returned again with my 11 year old son for an Easter treat. We love it there. The pork belly, anchovies and chorizo are lovely. The cauliflower dish was lovely - great for vegetarians - but not for me. Heart and Soul (Vocation) on tap 🍺 too. Parking 🅿️ immediately outside if anyone needs to know.

This is my new favourite local restaurant, serving up stunning world tapas style dishes, we went for valentines day and it was flawless, great service, great food, great atmosphere! What’s not to love! I would highly recommend it!

Absolutely fantastic tapas restaurant. Such a diverse choice at reasonable prices... we will visit again, as we want to try all the dishes on the menu (sadly we do not live closer & only tried 5 dishes - which were all amazing). The decor is very cool, the staff are excellent, the chef and his team are non stop in the open kitchen. The result.... a fantastic culinary experience, the dishes were served singularly, which gave the feel of a taster menu. First class. Thanks you. We were fortunate enough to be seated at the bar, overlooking the kitchen, we saw the adept cookery, relentless hard work first hand. Plus, we were given recommendations of the premium dishes to order. Top drawer experience. A must do in the region.

Brook's Restaurant

Rating: 4.6 (311) Price Level:

One of the best Sunday roasts we've ever had. Flat iron steak was cooked perfectly. We ordered one of every side dish between 2 of us. When it arrived we thought we'd massively overdone it. But it was all so tasty that we polished off the lot. No room for pudding though. Only small negative - it was very noisy and hard to have a conversation while we ate. This was mostly due to some unruly kids and inadequate parents on the next table, but that's not the fault of the restaurant. Will definitely be back to try the rest of the menu.

I would give them 10 starts if I could. I could arguably say that this has been the best brunch that I have ever had in my life. Everything from start to finish was simply PERFECT. Staff are very attentive and helpful and extremely polite. 1000% recommend this to everyone and trust you will not regret it.

I recently went for brunch at The Brooks in Brighouse and it was awesome. Right when you walk in, the place feels welcoming and cozy, making you feel right at home. The menu is packed with all sorts of yummy options. From the usual brunch goodies to some really unique dishes, there's something for everyone. I picked something off the menu that not only looked amazing but tasted incredible too. You could tell they used fresh ingredients because every bite was super flavorful. The staff at The Brooks were great as well. They were super friendly, always there when you needed them, and knew the menu inside out. They recommended some really good dishes and drinks that went perfectly with what we were in the mood for.The vibe of the place is just as cool. It's got a stylish yet laid-back decor, making it a perfect spot whether you're out for a casual brunch or celebrating something special. Plus, sitting outside on a nice day in Brighouse is pretty hard to beat. All in all, The Brooks is definitely a place I’d go back to and tell my friends about. If you’re looking for a solid brunch spot, this place should be on your list.

Spotted the brasserie while I was exploring along the canal and thought I would give it a try even though I had dinner plans. The service was good and friendly. I ordered the fish soup which was tasty. I'll definitely be coming back to try the other items on menu. Update: went back and had a 3 course meal. They didn't disappoint. Service was great and so was the food. For dessert they had a raspberry souffle which was really nice.

This restaurant has managed to remain unchanged in its appearance for over 40 years! It’s a wonderful period piece but with a very up to date set menu which managed to please a picky octogenarian and her slightly younger children. The food tastes delicious and the wine list is good value too.

Salts Mill

Victoria Rd, Saltaire, Shipley BD18 3HU, UK | N/A
P: 01274 531163

Rating: 4.6 (4805) Price Level:

It’s always good to take a friend from other areas to visit places you enjoy and find they like them too. Salts mill and Saltaire is such an unusual place combining history via art ( through Hockney) and industrial skills - the mill itself and the town of Saltaire. The town has a character modern towns usually lack and the mill shows industrial heritage where money talked and could be good for the workers. Pity more entrepreneurs don’t build new towns around their dream developments!! We enjoyed the art, the spaces within the mill (which is huge) including the cafe and book shops. We saw some video footage of how the mill started but didn’t see it all. Think we should return to learn more. Cafe - we had to wait a while but it was ok and the lunch was fine-tasty and reasonable. Take time, don’t rush and think about the original workers but also the dedication of Jonathan Silver who so valued this place and ensured it became a valued place in industrial history.

We had a fabulous afternoon visiting Salts Mill! We heard that David Hockney had a flowers in print exhibition and couldn’t wait to take a look. We had visited the Media museum earlier in the day, so saw some of his artistic talents through his 4 seasons videos filmed through 9 cameras. The mill had 3 floors of interesting arts, plenty of areas to eat and drink and a wonderful book store! There’s plenty of David Hockney related things to peruse/buy! We also watched a video of the history of Salts Mill which was fascinating!

Plentiful parking, good range of food options. Plentiful free parking and access via public transport is easy. Highly recommended and I will be back!

We parked on Caroline Street for £1.50 per hour (able to extend on RingGo app). Queue for food was quite long but we got in early at 11:30 which seemed to beat the queue. Pizzas were amazing! There is another cafe on level 3 if you want to skip the long queue. Exhibits were nice and the activities in the Peace Museum upstairs were great. Only suggestion to management is have some signage for prams/wheelchairs. Accessibility at the two entrances/exits we saw were none existent.

A really wonderful place to stroll around looking at nice things for 3-4 hours. A fantastic use of an historic and beautiful industrial business with a very uplifting and important heritage, especially for this part of the world. The video showing the story of what it was and how it became what it is now and why it is a UNESCO site was very moving. So much art and photography to see, choc a block with Hockney works...all for free! The Ian Beesley exhibition was a highlight for me. The antique shop too. The Peace Museum is cool too. Also, probably the biggest building I have ever been in and with lots of original features...The sheer scale is incredible. Be prepared to walk lots.

Always loved this place. I know hospitality isn’t easy. Just a point, the prawn cocktail which is usually awesome, was slightly cheated last time. Piece of lemon buried out of slight, packing out the surface look, and the prawns supplemented with tiny cray. Still a smashing venue either for weddings, or intimate dining.

The Sunday lunch here is exceptional—one of the best I've had! While it's on the pricier side, the quality makes it worth it. The restaurant itself is beautifully renovated after the recent refurbishment. However, the experience with the reception staff was disappointing. When I called to book a table for five, I was told it wasn’t possible, and the person on the phone was quite unhelpful. Given that the restaurant was nearly empty, I didn't understand the issue, so I ended up booking two separate tables and had them combined when we arrived, which wasn’t a problem. Other than that, the overall experience was fantastic!

Our wedding day at Wentbridge House was absolutely perfect! The venue itself was stunning both inside and out, creating a beautiful backdrop for our special day. The staff were incredibly helpful and attentive, ensuring that everything went smoothly from start to finish. The food was truly outstanding; our guests are still raving about how wonderful it was! A special thank you goes to Chloe for her meticulous arrangements leading up to the big day, and to Karen, who made our wedding day so personal and memorable. Her attention to detail and genuine care helped create an unforgettable experience for us both. All the staff were brilliant, proactive in everything, and incredibly supportive. We couldn’t have asked for a better place to celebrate our love! During the planning of our wedding, we visited many of the different rooms in both the original and new parts of the hotel, and they were all immaculate. Our bridal suite on the day was perfect. To all the staff at Wentbridge House, thank you so much for making our day so special! X
