Lovely place to play Golf extremely good value for money, greens where good, 2 faults the tee boxes where not the best and little more signage and yardage sticks would of helped The lady behind the desk was polite and the Breakfast wrap was a winner winner. Highly recommend.

Recently came here for a society day, but have also been a couple of time prior to that, what a great course that has something for everyone, it is short, but that really helps as I have two sons starting out in golf and it gives them a chance to get used to course conditions. The greens are fantastic and although can be tricky they are like carpet. Some great short holes as well which will have you using all of the clubs in your bag! Nice ham,egg and chips as well

I played this course for the first time in many years and was very impressed. It's a public course that it maintained to a high standard. The fairways and greens were in very good condition and the grewn fee is good value for the money.

Lovely public run course and well priced. The greens are kept in great condition by the staff. Friendly staff and well stocked golf shop. Good food on offer and bar facilities are available to use. Driving range well priced compared to some other local ranges. Played there several times and it’s a good place to test your skills.

Wow, what a lovely course and a great test of golf. On 1st August the whole course was in beautiful condition; tees, fairways and greens. Every hole offers a different challenge. Greens were the best I’ve played this year. As a 13 handicap I’d play it again tomorrow having felt I didn’t do it justice first time around. Visitor green fees with a member are very reasonable.

Nice course in really good condition. Shame the pro didn't tell us about the past Capts comp & from the 13th tee would be closed. Luckily there were some friendly members who helped

Attended for a Wake of a close relative. A lovely venue. However the entrance is a bit confusing as it's gated, it took a while to realise there's a line on the ground in front of the gates, and car needed to be near that to allow gates to open. Lovely views from the reception area across the 18th hole and out towards Sidcup/Welling. Nice clean facilities, friendly staff.

Come here for the breakfast. Always spot on. I always go for the jnr or snr in a pan breakfast. Love the location to. New owners but it’s the same chef so still good quality food. I did ask him to butterfly my sausage however as I like it cooked properly through which was either ignored or not noted lol @whatwehavingnow - on instagram for our full review & more vids/pics. I was travelling for a month in London, and visited this golf course. I can say that I had a super professional coach who guided me well and showed to all my mistakes. I took two lessons only due to the short time in the UK. But I’d highly recommend Ben Lawson if you are looking for the new professional coach.

I can only really comment on the aqua drive range and staff. Gotta say though the staff are friendly and it's only a tenner for a hundred balls to whack your frustration out with. If your bored fancy something different, highly recommend popping over here and kids are welcome to. (Clubs can be hired for a mere £2)

Reasonably priced for golf and alcohol. Modern alcohol served with plenty of variety. Alcohol free fruit flavoured cider also available. Billiards table. Once you've let your stress out by bashing a load of balls into the lake you can have a few pints and a game... Great place, hadn't been for ten years but will becoming more regularly now

Had a really nice time with the family, took just over an hour to complete the course, it provided some light-hearted competition, lots of laughs and a couple of arguments too! Everything you expect from a family outing. My 8 year old said it was like going abroad on holiday with all the palm trees 🌴 luckily for us it was a sunny afternoon 😎 only downside was it is a bit expensive at £40 for 2 adults and 2 children 😀

Very interesting and challenging course. A stone’s throw from Eltham Palace. Pro shop manager was very friendly and accommodating. Clubhouse was beautiful, and had a fascinating history. I even got a private tour by the facilities director, which included an incredible golf memorabilia museum! I ate in the bar area and enjoyed delicious food and friendly service. Pick up the book on the history of the club, one of the oldest in England.

It's nice to treat yourself to the elegant and stately surroundings for Sunday Lunch. I did feel, however, that it wasn't as good the first time round. The actual roast beef lunch seemed if was of the pre prepared variety that most pub restaurants do. The beef was passable but may have been not freshly carved. The accompanying vegetables were nothing of note. I hope I'm wrong as it's a good venue to eat, albeit a tad on the pricey side, but that's to be expected.

A golf course with a royal status. Wasn't the longest or the most challenging course that I played so far, but it very well maintained. Has a classic club house that server fantastic food. Probably give higher recommend to the restaurant than the course.😅 It's a been there done that course, as it's not easily accessible. (Private course)

i played there last week with 2 old mates (i'm the youngest and look it ! ) We had a great time on a challenging course..we were playing behind a 'Society' and teed off just after 11.00 am but luckily we were not held up too much and each hole flowed pretty well without delay causing 'Mind Wander'...it's definitely a course you have to play a few times because of the hazards but very rewarding when you get it right...you have to be careful on the 18th at the moment because if you veer off to the right before the Green it's a bit boggy with the rain we have had..we finished the day in the Bar talking about how much better we could have played and were looked after by the lovely Sam and a really helpful young lady (i think her name is Harris or Paris...my hearing is going )...they really are a credit to the Golf Club as nothing is too much trouble for them..fixing the Coffee Machine, changing the Barrels...the Owners are lucky to have them as if i was lucky enough to own a golf club i would definitely snap them up!..Great Staff are hard to find and it's another reason we will definitely return soon!

Greens, bunkers, fairways and tee boxes generally in good shape. Played during social distancing regulations with limited clubhouse facilities available. Green fees reasonable compared with other local golf courses. Relatively easy layout. Flat course with several dog legs to be aware of.

Decided to play on Thursday with two buddies and definitely enjoyed it . We usually play the top course at Hainault but they seem to have become a lot more expensive recently so we decided to give Stapleford a try. The course itself is pretty flat so it was no problem for us old timers to walk it with trolleys. The atmosphere is really friendly and the clubhouse has a fine selection of Beers and Food. We will definitely go back... Sam, the lovely lady taking the money was really helpful when we asked for a Buggy refund ( decided to walk and burn off some belly fat).. and Colin was making sure we had everything we needed including the emergency code for the toilets after they had closed the club house ones.. we are sure to play there again soon... i need to try and find all those balls i lost...and hopefully my Catalytic Converter will not be stolen ... like it was at Hainault... on a beautiful sunny day with CCTV in action.. See you soon Stapleford 😎⛳️

Ilford Golf Club

1 Albatross Ln, Ilford IG1 3FL, UK | Sports Club
P: 020 8554 2930

Rating: 4.1 (102) Price Level:

Always wanted to play here but never quite got round to it, all be it that this is a local course. I knew that the course sat very close to the A406 so I was somewhat prepared for that. Quite surreal to see a well kept green surrounded by beautiful trees with a flyover and crane for a backdrop. The course was relatively short with some interesting blind shots and quirky holes due to the river running through. A few holes cross over each other as well so clearly getting the course into the space available has required some compromises. The greens I found ran very true and after a few holes found my myself feeling very confident hitting putts from distance. Pitching into the greens I found they didn't take much spin and balls rolled off greens quite readily. Some aspects of maintenance were disappointing, a lot of cut grass just sits all over the course making it appear unkept. For some reason found a traffic bollard in the course which I must say is a first. Overall a decent experience. The cost and proximity makes this course a good option.

I knew what I was going to play and I still liked the course and the layout is super fun to play. The quirky relationship with the highway is unique. There are no two holes alike, which I love. The overall condition was not good throughout. It could just use more maintenance everywhere all the time. #2, #6, #9, #11, #13, #14, #16 and #17 are all good holes.

Ilford Golf Course is a fantastic option for those seeking a good value for money round of golf during the summer months. The Twilight hours offer an affordable way to play, making it accessible to all. The course is usually well maintained and presents enjoyable challenges throughout, with some fun questions of the tee. Although the course was very dry during the summer, it has since recovered, providing a pleasant round of golf all year round. However, it can be very wet during the winter months, so it's always worth checking the weather before booking a tee time. One of the standout features of Ilford Golf Course is the feeling of the course being getable, meaning that it is possible for golfers of all skill levels to have a good round. With a mix of short and long holes, there is something for everyone to enjoy. Personally, my favorite hole is the 6th. The green is well maintained and boasts impressive bunkers on either side, making for a visually striking hole. It's a challenging par 4 that requires some strategic thinking to navigate successfully, and it's always satisfying to make par or better on this hole. Overall, I highly recommend Ilford Golf Course for those seeking an affordable round of golf with enjoyable challenges throughout. With a well-maintained course, a range of holes to suit all abilities, and some visually striking features, it's a great choice for any keen golfer.

Ilford is a very friendly club. Considering the amount of rain in east London last few days it was remarkably dry. The greens were firm, but a high ball would stop .The greens are always good at Ilford. My only complaint was nature. So many leaves it took an age to find our balls.

Had a lovely scramble with a good friend on this 18 hole course after hitting the driving range. I’m a complete beginner so I was happy to hit a few straight shots! Driving range is decent and has targets etc Cafe is reasonably priced and lots of seating area Recommend sun cream for hot days! The refill station at hole 9 was welcome, and the price of stuff in vending machines is cheap for chocolates etc

Excited about playing a course that I’ve not played in 15 years. The course layout is good, very flat and straight, however bunkers are very well placed and the fairways are mostly undulating so shot selection is key. Course is okish, could be better, however greens are true can be attacked very well. The rough needs work as when a ball lands in it it’s very tough to find them. Staff are very friendly and there is a good beer selection!

I had a lovely morning playing The Prince’s course this morning at Richmond Park Golf Course. The staff was very friendly and I was able to hire some clubs. The clubs were a bit old and beat up but I guess that’s to be expected with a public course. They still played fine. The course itself is beautiful with lots of birds and foxes on the course. I landed my ball on the green with a nice pitch shot and this fox darted out of the bushes and tried to steal my ball haha. It was quite comical and a unique experience. Keep an eye out for those sly foxes. Also, bring extra balls because you will lose a bunch unless you have great aim. The rough is extremely thick and dense. While I lost lots a few balls I also found a few so it evened out. Overall a fun course close to London. I’d definitely go back.
