We stopped by this lovely little outdoor cafe before setting off back home after a weekend in the area, and I’m so glad we did. Staff were super friendly, the cakes and drinks were really tasty and the atmosphere was chilled. Would definitely visit again when we’re back in the area and I highly recommend. X

Lo's Coffee Shop knows how to turn a Saturday evening into something legendary. We waltzed in as the Wonky Donkeys took the stage – I mean, talk about timing! The night transformed into an epic adventure, with food that could rival any gourmet joint, a great beverage selection and an atmosphere that had me wondering if Hogwarts' enchantment spilled over to this corner. The live music by the Wonky Donkeys? Let's just say they added more magic than a wand-waving wizard. And don't even get me started on the dog-friendly vibes – these folks deserve a round of applause for that. Oh, and the staff? Superheroes in aprons, no doubt. Seating's outdoors, but thank the coffee gods for those blankets that turned into cozy capes as the evening cooled. And if you think the magic stops at night, think again – they've got daytime delights too, from light bites to a coffee selection that could make a barista blush. Trust me, I've got my loyalty card ready because Lo's Coffee Shop just earned a top spot on my map of favorites.

Wonderful cafe. Lo made us very welcome which is especially appreciated as not all cafes like mountain bikers. She set aside a table for us. The cafe was wonderfully warm, while the weather outside was freezing. The food was excellent & the coffee especially good. We had a great time and we will be back

The Green Yard

Rating: 4.8 (456) Price Level:

Found by chance when perusing the menu of a more expensive establishment. Inside was too busy for nine of us but in the small yet quaint courtyard we managed to shuffle a few tables together to accommodate our needs. The food was delicious and reasonably priced... the pot of tea was enormous and required a strong arm to lift and pour! The staff were very friendly especially one gentleman in particular who instigated much banter. Would definitely visit again... highly recommended.

We came here for breakfast for my mum's birthday and it did not disappoint! The ingredients are of the highest quality, everything was cooked perfectly and the coffee was great. We were a table of 7 adults and a highchair, and the service was incredibly friendly and professional. The outdoor tables with a view were a perfect way to finish our morning with a coffee and a cannoli. Thank you so much for your hospitality, we look forward to returning soon!

Been a couple of times and already planning my next trip! Staff are lovely and attentive, menu is simple but wholesome with a great selection of café classics and specials. Really lovely setting and a courtyard - and a big bonus they're dog friendly!

A lovely little cafe, tucked away in a Dorchester side street. A well-kept secret that the locals cherish. You can get to Potters back door and their lovely patio garden by turning left before entering Waitrose. The front door is in the street next to Tony & Guys hair salon. The cafe offers lots of homemade goodies and great tea and coffee. They are a little pricey for some of their items but it's worth paying that little bit more for quality. The staff are well above the average.

Really excellent. As someone who also owns a small independent cafe, Potters is one of the best I have visited. Lovely food( club sandwich) almost too much to finish, and I’m a big eater. Very attentive staff, and extremely good value for money. All round an excellent little cafe.

West Bay Tea Rooms

P: 01308 455697

Rating: 4.7 (326) Price Level:

Amazing lunch but the best was the cream tea! I actually went to The Ritz in London a couple of days later for afternoon tea and the scones at West Bay Tea Rooms were better than theirs.

We stopped for a scone on the way back to the car after spotting the tea rooms menu. When we arrived a sign said to sit at a table and you will be served from it. We knew what we wanted and were quickly greeted by a friendly lady who had observed we were ready and ordered 2 Dorset Cream Teas. Our food and drink was served within minutes and I couldn't actually believe the quality and quantity of the order for just £6.96 each! Absolutely delicious, will return for sure.

Absolutely loved it! The staff were lovely, the food was impeccable and the tea room itself was immaculate. The sandwich and the scones on the cream tea I ordered were massive, really worth the price! And was no problem when I asked for something to take half of me meal away when I couldn't finish it 😅 A must visit at West Bay!

What a hidden gem!!!! Absolutely delicious cream tea. The service was absolutely brilliant, we came on a particularly busy day, and we had to wait 20 or so minutes for a table, the waitress was quick to book us in. The service was incredible, chatting lovely staff and our order came really fast. The scones were really something else! Warm and fluffy! Really affordable

What to say? Beautiful, well decorated, wonderfully staffed with friendly people, great quality, well made food, great coffee, nice rear garden, wonderful products for sale, the lost goes on and on. Really wonderful breakfast at Soulshine on our way back to London from a weekend in Lyme Regis. This is clearly a place that's valued by their community - filling up quickly from the doors opening, multiple people asking if their favoured staff member was working that day... always a good sign. Out front is for coffee and pastries to take away, but through the back is the main event - a gorgeous restaurant space with outside seating for sunny days. Both kid- and dog-friendly, and with a crowd-pleasing menu that children will love for its simplicity and the grown-ups will appreciate for the quality of the locally-sourced ingredients used. Of the breakfast menu, the baked beans are exceptional and the home-made kimchee is another highlight. If you're like us you'll walk away from Soulshine thoroughly charmed, and resolved to return for dinner the next time you're in the area.

I'd earmarked this place for our visit to Bridport and on the day we went it was tipping it down with rain and it was packed. There was a queuing system for lunch tables, so we waited in line and watched with interested as the chefs plated up in the open kitchen. Service was efficient, friendly, and the menu is full of interesting options, plus loads for vegans (which we both are). We opted for the split pea hummus, soup, and chocolate & hazelnut buckwheat slice. All were absolutely divine. There is a little shop at the front selling coffee beans, cakes, jarred bits etc. Wish this place was closer to where we lived, I'd be in there all the time.

Excellent food and service and the owner went above and beyond. Soulshine was recommended to us for a great place to have lunch. They had a great selection on the menu but at the time, I was unable to eat any carbs or sugar(nightmare customer, I know) due to a current health problem. The owner who was also serving us, recommended the salad but I was tempted by the meatballs, which unfortunately came with potatoes. So I opted for the salad as suggested. All of a sudden the owner came back to our table and said "would you like me to add a couple of meatballs to your salad" to which I was over the moon. The food came out promptly and it was delicious!! He didn't have to do that for me so it was very kind of him to go out of his way and to accommodate me. My mum and her partner had marmalade on sourdough which they said was very nice too and the coffees were excellent. Next time we are back in Bridport, we will definitely be back. Highly recommended for a chilled out atmosphere and rustic homemade style food. Thank you.

Only been there once for breakfast we'll worth the money (for a treat). The drinks could be a tiny bit more hot. There's no signal or WiFi so no good for students. We like some staff more than others as we usually do. Will come again. Do they do take away? They need to sort out there time table on the fb page. The floor isn't even so the chairs wobble.

Astonishing, utterly astonishing!! For a place like this to exist in a relatively quiet village (OK, it's a fairly substantial village) beggars belief. While it may not look much at 1st glance from the outside, inside it delivers in spades! The decor is appropriate yet understated and the place is like the TARDIS inside, there's a lot more room than you might imagine. The menu is very varied with an ample selection from tea & cake, to light bites and full meals, topped off by delicious desserts, if you have room. Cordon Bleu it isn't but neither does it pretend to be but what they do they do very well - proper food I call it, hot & wholesome, not arty farty food for which you pay a kings ransom, just sensible, down to earth everyday food that is beautifully prepared and presented, and certainly not expensive by any stretch. The staff are welcoming & friendly, nothing seems too much trouble, which makes for a very relaxing & comfortable atmosphere. I've learned that the place sort of doubles as a village 'hub' too, where the lucky locals can meet through the week for various things. I confess on our visit, a Saturday, it was strangely quiet in there, but I imagine things can be quite brisk through the week. So, for good food, sensibly priced in South Petherton look no further, it's right here!!

Rating: 4.3 (394) Price Level:

A gorgeous cafe & restaurant with stunning views. I came for a Halloween themed quiz & since this one, they’re going to do monthly quizzes now. The food is delicious, you can eat in or takeaway. I had the loaded curly fries which were so tasty and filling (£16, worth every penny). The staff in the cafe are all lovely, friendly people who will go the extra mile to make sure customers are happy. Prices are reasonable for the quality of food and service. The atmosphere is brilliant - the decor is so creative with plants and wall art. There is also a beautiful wedding venue next door to the cafe which is part of the same business. A stunning, large open space with an upstairs balcony and gorgeous views. It’s clear they’ve recently touched up the place and look after it as the toilets are so modern and clean.
