Pip’s

The Railway Carriage, South Petherton TA13 5JH, UK | Restaurant
P: 07729 685412

Rating: 4.7 (396) Price Level:

Coffee and cake at Pip’s Railway Carriage Bakery & Restaurant, a restored train from the 1850’s. There is also a double-decker bus, but it’s not nearly as atmospheric as well as picnic tables outback. I had the lemon cornmeal olive oil cake with a mascarpone frosting, which was delicious. My only complaint is that they would not let us sit in one of the railway cars because they said none of them were clean. The truth is they didn’t want to clean one and then clean it again because they were closing in an hour.

Very cute local brunch place/restaurant in the area. Cool bus/train themed vibe with lots of green plants, indoor heating and blankets for outside. Food was amazing, had the avocado toast and the hash browns are definitely a must have. Staff were very friendly and professional. Highly recommended place, and would go again.

Wow, what a hidden gem this is!! Only complaint is car park is slightly small - however the food was outstanding. I had Avo on toast with an egg and it was delicious. Amazing flavours, perfect runny egg and no soggy toast! We also had some hashbrowns to share (A Must) - equally delicious. We sat in the marquee due to having a dog with us but it was lovely in there, the train carriage and bus looked intriguing and we will definitely be coming again to have a go in there. Lovely little farm shop to look in after too. Well worth the visit!

Stopped here while travelling down to Cornwall, and really pleased we did. Was worried there wouldn't be space from pictures of a small rail car, but there's also a bus and marquee area for seating, so shouldn't have worried. The menu is interesting, lots of small plates designed for sharing rather than standard cafe food, but everything we ordered was lovely and full of flavour. Service was great as well, although they were very busy. Thank you team! The farm shop next door is full of delicious bits and pieces as well.

Gorgeous coffee shop hidden away which has seating in a double decker bus, railway carriage or outdoors picnic tables and area for kids to run around. We only had takeaway coffee but we're impressed by the uniqueness of this cafe. Coffee was good. So pleased we stopped.

Great little hidden gem! We started our visit in the cosy little cafe, lots of choice and very nice food. A light rain shower then directed us into the very interesting museum, lots to see! including the wheel from the inside (apart from seeing the wheel, awkward steps are involved) then we emerged to the sun making an appearance onto the lovely lake, lots of benches, ducks and a little walk down to the sluice gates which is a very pretty little spot. Before we left we visited the gift/craft shop which was full of very reasonably priced items and plants for sale too. A very enjoyable morning of exploring and will definately be returning 😊 There was also an Art gallery but not sure on the opening days as closed on the Saturday we visited.

Wasn't open... Several others including a group of cyclist came up the pot holed drive . So money was lost. But understandably, the owners are not out too make cast amounts of money. MC Donald's would have redeveloped it,if they thought there was easy money too be made.. And that's why it's sits in a sleepy hollow. Well away from garish... West bay . Thankgod,it's tranquil unspoilt.. And I don't know why I'm telling you. Because the last thing I want too see is endless huge motorhomes With owners who haven't a scooby doo how too drive them.. Clogging up this idyllic piece of what England did look like before the motorways... But I still took a look around the mill pond and went up again too the sluice.. Muddy belut determined to get a picture. You could hear it before you saw it .. In full flood. And the snow drops were out. Use too come with my father, because Paul the owner worked with him. At the top secret weapons establishment on Portland which everybody knew was there . Because it stuck out like a sore thumb. But Paul gave it all up and has spent the rest of his life restoring the mill. And my father was left in the drawing office dreaming off the day he could get back too his allotment and his flowers...

An interesting old 17th century watermill and Museum of Rural Bygones. There is a cafe on site, called the Tea Chest, as well as local crafts and a lake to wander around. The 'museum' is £2.50 payable via an honesty box.

Huge muscles in a nicely balanced blue cheese cream sauce. The fish chowder was also lovely, great tasting fish and fresh veg. We enjoyed on a wet and windy day, outside seating had heaters which warmed us up nicely. Would recommend after a walk.

This is a well loved beach cafe which has beautiful scenic views, it is very popular and rightly so. The menu is mainly fish and seafood dishes. However, they do a smashing full English breakfast up to 11.30 am. I will post pics. This dog friendly beach cafe has a carpark close by, but if you choose to walk along the cliff top path or the lower paths, you will walk within the most beautiful scenery. This is a totally table service venue, so once you are seated, you can sit back, relax, and enjoy the view. Prices are reasonable.

We arrived at 11.20, just in time to order breakfast. We were lucky to get the table on the edge of the 'tent' overlooking the beach. Despite being quite busy we received very efficient service. The food arrived within 15- 20 min, then our hot drinks. We had 3 x full English and egg Benedict on muffin with bacon. Everyone enjoyed it. The only nuisance were a few wasps but not a lot to spoil our experience.

Came here today, after walking from our campsite at Graston Copse through Burton Bradstock village. A warm welcome by a member of staff & shown to our outside table for 4 with 3 dogs. Our waitress took our drinks order & returned after a few minutes to take our food order. She was very friendly and attentive, giving time for a chat despite being extremely busy. Wait for our food was minimal and when it arrived it was hot, tasty & well presented. Back ground music was pleasant, giving the Mediterranean feeling due to the sunshine. Wouldn't hesitate in returning if we are in the area again .... thank you.
