So unbelievably grateful for both Ellie and the rest of the team at Derwent Valley Vets! They have been incredible in treating one of our guinea's who sadly had to have his eye removed after our previous vets showed little interest in adapting his care or changing his antibiotics despite little improvement in a month. When we came to Ellie, we were scared we were going to lose him; we knew we were close to the point of no return. Ellie and the team have absolutely given our boy his life back; even with one eye he is much more himself than we have seen him be in the last 2 months and we're so thankful. Even now, 2 weeks post surgery, we are in constant communication with the team, sending regular updates and receiving brilliant advice. I cannot praise this team enough! We travel 3 hours to see them, and will gladly do so for anything so important again because the standard of care is unbeatable. Oh, and they provided double the amount of treatment for half the price we were quoted elsewhere, so pricing is absolutely incredible value for the skills these guys have. Much love to everyone in the surgery, thanks for all you do!

Ellie is amazing and very knowledgeable. We travelled 1.5 hours to see Ellie and it was worth it. I've never seen any other vet health check my guineapig like she did, and making sure my piggy has the correct pain relief after her eye removal. Nice to talk to a vet who knows what's she talking about with piggies

Thank goodness for Ellie! It’s amazing to have a vet who knows and loves guinea pigs so much. Coco has only just started her treatment but I’m feeling really at ease knowing she’s under Ellie’s care and expertise. The option of her video appointments for advice is also very helpful and reasonably priced.

Very kind and knowledgeable, did her best for my little piggy, but unfortunately, there was nothing more that could be done. Basically the only person in the UK who I'd trust to do conscious dental surgery on guinea pigs.

Thursday 6th February, we said our goodbyes to our special disabled frenchie Henry. Anna made our final goodbyes, so calm, peaceful. I found Anna was so gentle, kind and compassionate throughout our final time with Henry. Henry's sister , myself and my daughter are now able to grieve our loss. 🐾 Anna sent a beautiful card with such lovely words, which was such a lovely thing to do.

I wanted to say a big thank you to Anna. We like most of you reading this had to make a tough decision about our little soldier Rambo. This was the most devastating thing we have ever done and we knew of Anna as she treated Rambo a few years and she has a gift with animals and people. She was compassionate professional and so sensitive to our anguish. We were thankful that she came to our home and our little boy went to sleep in his favourite spot. It was very dignified for our boy and we knew we were doing the right thing by our son Rambo. She spoke softly to Rambo and he was not distressed and after his sad passing Anna kept in touch and checking on us which she did not have to do. She is caring and genuinely concerned about everyone’s welfare, and a true professional. She also helped us with the cremation and we trusted her choice of pet crematorium they were very good also. I know if you are reading this nothing will prepare you for the tsunami of grief that is about to hit you and your family, but Anna understands this. This is more than a review it’s a testimonial about an individual that is at the top of her profession and above all alongside our heart. ♥️🐾♥️thank you Anna from Gary and Monika Hans Derby

I was on holiday when I needed to see a Vet for my dog. I found the contact details in the information pack for the cottage I was renting. The receptionist was so helpful, especially when I couldn't find the location despite using my satnav. The Vet gave Theo a thorough examination and prescribed a medicine. It enabled us to enjoy the remainder of our holiday. 5* service, and very happy to recommend.

The best vets I have ever used. So helpful and considerate. I took my Border Terrier to have his ear checked and was pleased with outcome. Also the young lady on reception kindly made me a coffee while I waited for my lift. Excellent service, would recommend.

From the start, the reception team went above and beyond to ensure a smooth transfer of my dog’s medical history, and they continue to impress me with their helpfulness and dedication. Excellent experience from registration to first appointment. Everything was explained and I was given excellent advice and reassurance. The staff are so friendly and welcoming, and I thoroughly enjoyed what could have been a nervous 2nd vaccination appointment. Very glad i chose to register my new puppy at the Ashbourne practice.

Really grateful & impressed by the knowledge, support, kindness & compassion shown by this practice & all the staff including John Thompson, Dan Harding & Harriet Peck. I can only highly recommend their service, they are an excellent & genuinely caring team, from reception staff to the vets. The fees are reasonable too. Time and again the vets have have performed miracles with our dogs. They are so kind and really care. Some of the miracles have been pretty major and they really understand what you are going through and look after you too. Thank you Bakewell vets you are all terrific.

We were staying at the nearby campsite when my dog, Zeus, needed urgent care over the bank holiday weekend. I was petrified because of the type of care that was needed and also worried about the bill over the bank holiday, but Douglas and everyone at the practice were just incredible and you can tell they love animals. I rave to everyone about how amazing the staff were and I only wish they were closer to us at home because I’d love to have them as our everyday vets. Zeus needed to go back over the 3 days we were away and I was so reassured throughout the whole process. Douglas even called on the Saturday night to make sure he was doing ok. Just so appreciative of how well Zeus was looked after and I can’t recommend enough x

Unfortunately we had to make the difficult decision to send our old terrier over the rainbow bridge. The staff were incredibly kind and compassionate and gave us as much time as we needed both before and after she went. I know money shouldn't come into it but unfortunately it does, and the bill we received was so much more reasonable than what you would expect from some of the larger chain vets. We live over 40 mins away but will always be taking our dogs there as the service is worth the distance!

Just brought my dog, Lottie, to the surgery as she’d eaten a large homemade chocolate chip cookie. The staff were wonderful particularly Alison, the receptionist, who made me a cup of tea whilst I waited for Lottie to be treated. The vet was kind, reassuring and clearly loves her work. Lottie is tired but will be fine after she’s had a good sleep. I cannot recommend this veterinary practice highly enough, thank you! X

We brought our cat in as an out of hours emergency. We are so grateful for the care that our cat received. Sadly our cat had to be put to sleep but they made this awful experience much easier for us and I couldn't have asked for more. Thank you to Lorenzo and Jade. From the waiter who answered the phone to the front desk staff to the veterinarian, they were very friendly and made us feel very comfortable. Although there were many customers, the waiting time was not too long. The price was reasonable. My dog was treated effectively and the skin disease was cured in a week. Would recommend again, highly recommend and a big thank you to all the staffs.꒰^ↀωↀ^꒱❤❤

My dog, Maisy, suffered from pyometra last year and had to go in out of hours for emergency surgery. The vet was amazing and very reassuring, providing us with updates along the way (I’m a very anxious dog mummy). As part of her treatment package we had a few check ups to make sure her scar was healing well, every vet and nurse we saw was so lovely and made sure Maisy was happy. When I was concerned about the healing process they invited us back for an interim check just to give me peace of mind. The best vets I’ve used!

This is an excellent place to bring your beloved pet. They have saved our dogs life after a poisoning scare. Successfully treated him for cancer and have administered pain relief for arthritis. Our dogs quality of life has been greatly improved through working with this vetinary practice and especially one of the vets at the practice Maia.

Absolutely brilliant vets. Came in today with my hamster George for an emergency visit. The nurse vet Tawny (I think that was her name) was absolutely amazing and washed away any fear of my hammy being treated like a throw away pet like many do. She was absolutely amazing giving advise and helping us through a very scary moment of our lives. Can't thank you enough!!
