The whole team are all very polite and helpful. Lucas had ruptured both his cruciate ligaments and has behaviour issues. I was very worried about him having to go through 2 surgeries and whether they would do surgery due to his behaviour. The vet we had Dimitris was very understanding and none-judgemental of my dogs behaviour problem and gave him the best treatment plan. He listened to my concerns and dealt with Lucas in the best way, as hands off as possible! Dimitris was always very professional and knowledgable. We’re relieved the surgeries are done and hope for a more comfortable future for Lucas. Thank you to the whole team from Sarah and Lucas!

Very friendly and helpful staff. They took my dog for a fractured bone operation on Friday night, and after the surgery finished on Saturday, both: vet and nurses, stayed in contact with me during the weekend, checking how the recovery is going and replying to all my emails. Highly recommend this Veterinary clinic!

This is the 2nd time my dog has had an operation. The staff are all caring and helpful. The vets explain the procedure with a follow-up apt. There is also an in-house physio to support the welfare of the pet. I would highly recommend these wonderful people.

We have recently been referred to Sarah Smith Cardiology for our 14 and a half year old dog Ronnie due to a very scary faint and heart murmur. I cannot begin to thank the team at this practice. Right from the outset , the attention and care given to not only our dog , but to us , was outstanding !. Throughout his examination , Dylan remained calm and relaxed whilst his procedure took place . To be able to stay with him , was so comforting , and talking of comfort , he wasn't just on a standard vets table , he had really nice padding under him , with a nice cosy blanket on top , and a lovely lady ( Emma ) gently holding him and keeping him calm . He looked that comfortable , I wouldn't have been surprised , if he had gone to sleep !. I was able to be at his head to stroke and soothe him , but I think he would have been just as relaxed if it was just Emma with him !. During his procedure , Katie ( The cardiology specialist ) , explained everything that was happening ,and what would happen next , and was so informative , telling me what I was seeing on the screen . She was SO thorough , and happily answered any questions I had . Luckily for us , the news was better than expected , and we were 100% happy to know that , if ever Dylan did need treatment , we could not take him anywhere better . Everyone we saw , was so friendly , and helpful , including on the phone , when we spoke to Deborah . Thank you Sarah Smith Cardiology , you are all such caring , friendly , kind people .

My cat was very poorly with breathing difficulty and heart failure. I was referred to Sarah who carried out thorough investigations and treatment and prescribed new medication. She explained everything and was very professional. Thankfully my cat appears to be a lot better now.

Just been for the first time to Sarah Smith Cardiology and it’s just outstanding. What was a very stressful day was made so much easier with such a lovely team. Everyone was reassuring, compassionate and more than happy to answer any questions and throughly explain what was going on during the test and results. They are absolutely animal lovers through and through and it shows. I felt that you were treating my Chester as if he was your own dog. I can’t thank you enough. I feel such full confidence that whatever happens in the future with Chester’s heart, I have the best team around him. I’m so happy I pushed for the referral to you and would encourage anyone to do the same if you have the choice too. Came here in January after being referred by our own vets about my dogs glucose level wasn't coming down. First impression lovely and clean and friendly staff. We seen justine who was amazing she went through everything with us did plenty of tests scans etc which all came back clear. We have to give her updates and she has also kept in touch with us. Barney is now doing alot better We have got his diabetes and glucose level under control. Thank you.

Great first experience yesterday with my 3 amigos. Very thorough, professional, helpful and friendly. To the receptionist who assisted me in completing the Healthy Pet Club forms and booking further appointments, thank you. The hospital was clean and everyone was very welcoming. Ample parking. Our boy dave Bit of a novel but worth reading,if you have any doubts. We picked our little boy,Dave,up at 12wks. With great excitement,he was to be in our minds our last dog,especially at our time of life. We expect him to have a long happy and healthy life,after all he was a puppy. He presented with skin issues,so we embarked on weekly some times daily visits to our local vet. Whilst trying to treat his skin,he picked up so many other infections. Its was deemed he was not a healthy boy,and suggested maybe we should let him go. As he unfortunately became so scared of the vets,then his only defence was to become aggressive with them. We then asked to be referred to donnington dermatologist specialist. Our journey began. We did as Emily told us to the letter, We made massive progress with his skin. Emily helped to control his terrible itching and discomfort. And proceed with caution,as she had been warned from other vets,that he was aggressive. We were so grateful. But still we were not convinced that something was bubbling away in the background He declined quickly,and Emily feared too,that there was something not right. So referred us to internal medicine. Dave and ourselves were instantly put at ease with Justine and her team. But he was extremely poorly,before Christmas we almost,feared that this was it,we would have to say our goodbyes. Justine never lossed faith and everyone was extremely supportive. Then after all there patience, kindness and extream knowledge,the breakthrough came. We had a diagnosis and a treatment plan. our boy Dave,melt when ever he see Justine. The big so called aggressive puppy,just turns to mush. These people are truly extraordinary and I could write a novel,about the pain that we have all gone through. But it all comes down to our immeasurable gratification for saving our boy Dave's life. Thankyou so much everyone,including the fantastic receptionist who always take time to ask,if he is ok today.

Had an amazing experience with Justine recently when my dog was referred for an endoscopy. As young owners, River being our baby and first pet, we really needed answers to all of our questions. Justine gave that to us, she spent an hour before and an hour after all her testing to keep us at ease and explain everything in our terms which over the course of 2 months of Rivers bad health, we haven't ever experienced. Also shout out to the two lovely ladies on reception, no question was too much of an ask when it came to insurance claims etc. Wish I lived closer so these were my dogs go to vets. I rang Katie at short notice when my 11yr old British Shorthair suddenly became very poorly....She agreed to come over the same day which is amazing... Unfortunately our Blue Boy passed away before the appointment but Katie and her staff will always be remembered at our house and we'll never use any other Vet now... Professional,Caring,and Genuine..xx

I had Katie out today to euthanize my 17 year old cat Bobby today after he became very ill. Katie came at short notice and made the whole situation manageable and made it a very peaceful end for my cat. Katie was very professional and very helpful with the sorting of everything that comes with losing a pet. From my family we thank you Katie.

Karl and everyone at Orthopedic Vet Ashbourne were fantastic from start to finish. When I found out my dog needed surgery and was referred to them through my own vets, Orthopedic Vets Ashbourne arranged a date for her operation very promptly and sent over all the relevant information so I knew exactly what was was happening and what I needed to do in the run up to the operation itself. They worked alongside my insurance company so I didn't have to worry about that side of things and this took another weight off my shoulders at a very stressful time. When the date for my dog's operation arrived, we were greeted by a friendly and warm reception who helped put our minds at ease. My dog's surgeon was Karl and his love for animals was abundantly clear. He made not only my dog but myself feel at ease and explained everything clearly so that I was fully aware of what was going to happen, making me feeling confident and safe leaving my dog in his care. When I went to pick up my dog after her operation, she had obviously received the best of care and once again, Karl fully explained what had happened and the aftercare needed (she even received a cute welcome pack containing some treats, poo bags and a ball). The next day, Karl rang to see how my dog was doing which I thought was a very kind, personal touch and during the eight week recovery time until my dog needed her follow up x-rays, Karl was always at the end of an email and always had time to answer any questions or worries that I had. The care my dog (and myself) received throughout the whole process from everyone at the practice was second to none and their prices are also incredibly reasonable. I highly recommend their services and am incredibly thankful for the treatment and care that my dog received. She now has a new lease of life and can once again look forward to long walks and adventures pain free and I cannot thank them enough.

Fantastic vets! Our cat broke his back leg in December, he is older with health issues and we were told the location of the break may mean it wasn’t fixable. Fortunately I saw this practice online and Karl and the team worked their magic! Our beautiful crazy boy had an operation to pin and plate his leg and after some gruelling crate rest he is well on the road to recovery. All of the staff are lovely, patient and caring and we would thoroughly recommend them.

Karl showed our dog Luna (and us!) so much genuine care and kindness throughout a long series of operations and recovery periods which were more complex than we had all hoped. He was a reassuring presence for every appointment, phone call and email, and his passion for helping animals is very clear to see. We are so thankful to Karl and the team for all their hard work and dedication in getting our beautiful rescue girl back on her feet and doing what she loves - out walking & exploring again. I cannot recommend highly enough. Our Old English Bulldog Martha needed cruciate ligament surgery. We had been referred here by our vets in North Manchester and despite the distance I would have no hesitation in going back if needed. From start to finish Karl and the team made the entire process easy and stress free, putting us at ease of any worries we had. On the day of the surgery we were kept fully up to speed and the communication with Karl during Martha's recovery was first class. Thank you so much.

This vets are fantastic, my dog had emergency surgery last night, still critical, but wow the effort and care and love these people put in to trying to save his life was amazing . Here's hoping he goes from strength to strength . I cannot recommend this veterinary practice enough, all nurses and surgeons wow, only found them by recommendation a couple of months ago, but am absolutely taken aback by the love, care and professionalism they exhibit in all aspects of their work. Highly highly recommend to anybody .

After recently adopting Winston I booked an appointment at Star vets. The appointment was mainly to confirm he had been neutered and his chip corresponded to the one I had provided on the defra form for exemption. I was very impressed with the service we received and happy to use them in the future should the occasion arise. Thank you

I decided to bring my dog to this vet practice after all the amazing reviews. The vet was absolutely wonderful with my dog and I have no complaints about her. However the receptionist was unkind and unfriendly to us. I have a big dog - almost 100 lbs and my husband couldn't join us to the appointment. She asked me to weigh my dog alone - no one came to help me or asked if I needed any help. When the reception was busy and full of cats I have asked if I could wait in a quiet room as my dog could get agitated in a new environment. She have told me to wait outside even though it was a cold rainy day. During the entire time I had no assistance, no friendly manners and I didn't feel welcomed to the practice. I have joined their plan per suggestion of the vet and again the receptionist was quite reluctant to enrol my dog, saying first she will send the information via email. I have never received any emails from the practice including my invoices which makes me think if her cold manners to me it's regarding the fact that I am an immigrant and not a local resident. Which is a shame as their practice seems lovely and the vet is really good. After my first review they changed completely with me and my dog. I can't praise them enough about taking care of my Skyla.

Having 2 senior pets means a vet practice with a lot of care is so important. Gemma, Lisa and the entire team are so caring. Receptionists are so helpful and have sorted Insurance claims every 3-4 months and prescription scripts. Recently needed a dog’s Physiotherapy referral and Sarah sorted that over to Dr Lisa the same day. They are aware the cost of everything, not just pet care, has gone up and are communicative and happy to work with you to suit your pets and budget. My pets have a team of superstars behind them ⭐️

I was recommended this vets by a friend as I wasn't happy with my old vets. The vets we've seen have been so lovely. My dog had all his teeth out and it was such a smooth process and he recovered quickly. I'm so happy with this vets, I'm even happy to drive from where I live in Oakwood!

Great staff caring and compassionate. Cared for our Yorkshire terrier and made her comfortable and happy for the last 3 years of her life…the knowledge and care is second to non! Geoff came to our home when it was time to let her go, it was an already awful day but made easier by the fact she wasn’t stressed and could fall asleep in in her own home surrounded by love. We are eternally grateful

Really impressed with the vets at Hartshorne. At other surgeries my cat is a terror and turns feral. A lion would be better behaved. But at Hartshorne vets they must put a spell on him. He's so calm and relaxed with the staff. I highly recommend this surgery if your cat is troublesome at the vets as they have worked wonders with mine.
