New flashing, chimney repointing, ridge repointing, slate repairs and new gutter. I've had a lot of anxiety about my roof for some time due to to the way it was looking and someone who fixed some slates a few years ago said I maybe needed a new roof. When my flashing came apart in the last storm, I realised I needed to get some work sorted. The first guy who came said he could sort out the flashing and chimney for free - if I paid £13000 for a new roof. That was out of the question for me, so I was anxious when Thomas came around to look at it. I asked him directly if I needed a new roof and he said no, and that the look of the roof was just moss (it was white so hard to tell). He said I could have a new roof for a lot of money but quoted a reasonable and affordable amount for the restoration works. I agonized over it a lot but eventually went with Act Fast and they lived up to their name as they started within a day of me hiring them. I was really anxious about the look of the slates after the moss was cleared off - to me it looked like the roof was falling apart, but Thomas was very reassuring that the slates were fine and the chap who did the work said the roof was doing well for its age and the residue would wash off in the rain. My heart was in my mouth as it didn't rain for a week, but when it did all seemed fine and the residue from the moss has now washed off as promised and the roof looks a lot better than it did before. As Thomas said to me, he could have said those slates were knackered and needed replacing and charged me a lot more money (the new roof guy said they were completely delaminated and wrecked so it was hard to know who to trust) and that honesty counts for a lot with me. I'm still a bit anxious about the roof, I suppose that will take a while to wear off, but the work seems sound and comes with a 5 year guarantee which gives me peace of mind. I had a flat roof replaced recently by ACT Fast. It has been peeing it down since I had the work done, and there are no leaks. Excellent.
