The atmosphere in this café is truly delightful. From the moment we walked in, the two ladies, who I believe are the owners, were incredibly warm and welcoming. Their friendliness and the cozy ambiance they’ve created really set this café apart from the more mainstream spots in Birmingham—it feels like a home away from home. The coffee and Eggs Benedict were absolutely delicious, and I’m excited to try more from their menu. A charming touch is their well-behaved dog, who politely sits on a chair, greeting every customer as they arrive. The outdoor seating area is a great addition, with umbrellas for shade and blankets available if it gets chilly. They have a lovely view of the canals. Overall, it’s a wonderfully inviting place that I’ll definitely visit again and happily recommend to everyone I know.

Amazing place, we liked the decoration, the view on the canal and the staff was very friendly. The food was absolutely delicious. We will come back if we visit Birmingham again :)

The food was spectacular and we were almost crying tears of joy and humming with every bit of our roasts! ❤️ The thing that makes this place special however is the service and staff. Ju and Lynne made us feel so welcome and comfortable from the moment we stepped in. We felt like we belonged and really enjoyed all that this place offered. You can tell this place was made out of love for food and people! Defo coming back with the friends!

Had a wonderful late breakfast served by Julie herself! A lovely lady serving great food along the canal. We had the Croque Madame and split it, at her suggestion. It's a very generous portion, nice ham, and 2 eggs on top. Her scones looked good, but sadly had no room to try them! So we will definitely be back! Attentive staff and a relaxed conversation with Julie. Fun art and whimsical signs in the two room inside seating. Highly recommend it!

Genuinely my favorite cafe. Have to come here everytime I visit Birmingham. The coffee is superb, they have a really great selection of beans on sale. All of the desserts they have are something special. They're unique and so so tasty especially the Basque Cheesecake. Love this cafe and would recommend to anyone 🖤

The texture of these cakes was pretty good. I can have tasted all of foods and ingredients from cakes no else lost and stayed in the balance. Iced Latte also was a nice choice to order because it tasted smoothy. In general, I prefer a latte with lots of milk but this one was half half (i think so) that it made me satisfied. Then the key point was ice ball to avoiding changing the flavor of latte. All of details showed that the café is pro.

A 'proper' coffee shop - the staff can and do talk about the different coffees they make. Coffee itself is really good, including a decent decaf option. Cakes and cookies were all brilliant too.

Came across this coffee place by accident. I had looked it up before but not visited. The staff were excellent, friendly and helpful. I had a fantastic pour-over coffee and the best cinnamon bun ever. Nice comfortable seats with plenty of room. There were quite a few people there and the atmosphere was welcoming and relaxed. Highly recommended.

They pour the beer without sparklers here and the Pale Brummie turns out to be the best pint of the day. Great service and a worthy entry in the Good Beer Guide. The food offer looks irresistible and I’ll have to return soon to sample it.
Rating: 5 / 5
Excellent quirky little bar so close to Birmingham New Street that you might be able to squeeze in a pint while waiting for a connection. The Fairy Tale milk stout sounds like it might be sickly but it was very drinkable. I came across the same beer in London a week later and it was much poorer. Didn't get a chance to sample the food.

Stayed for 3 nights in Birmingham and this is quite possibly the best cafe I've been too. Food is out of this world and the staff have been amazing.

It's a cozy place in the middle of the city with a good atmosphere and vibe. Even though it's always full of people, the staff are super kind. The coffee and the pancakes are really good. They are warm enough to heat you up on a cold day.

A few months ago, I had the pleasure of experiencing a tasting menu at Simpsons with my family. Created by Luke Tipping, the menu was outstanding—every course was thoroughly enjoyable, with perfectly balanced taste, texture, and aroma. The service was exceptional from start to finish, with the front-of-house team being both welcoming and attentive. I’ll definitely be back again 💯

Celebrating an anniversary. The kitchen is headed up by Luke Tipping. With a very talented young brigade. Options for dining are a 3 course lunch. A classic 5 course or the Prestige tasting menu, which we chose. To begin the meal, three delightful canapes, followed by fresh homemade sourdough and black olive rolls. Served with mushroom butter and a roe dip. First course was a tasty bowl of mushroom set custard. Followed by a very pretty salmon & lobster ravioli. Next, was a little surprise extra dish of scallop with fermented carrots and black pudding. The fish course was Sea Bass with spinach cooked in goats cheese.Although it was nice,we're not sure if this combination works. A very healthy, refreshing beetroot dish was next. The meat course of Highland venison was succulent and tender. Pre-dessert was a burnt cream served in an egg shell. For the finale,an outrageous Tiramisu Souffle. With a chocolate sauce & amaretto cream. It was a very enjoyable lunch with excellent service and a pleasure to meet two young, very talented chefs, Evan & Jordan.

Faultless. Visited for my wife's 40th birthday, and was welcomed with a "Happy Birthday", a card from the team and left with a small box of chocolates, really helping to make it feel special. The food was amazing and as it was a Thursday lunchtime it was quiet, so felt like we had the place to ourselves. Highly recommend, and my thanks to the team.

Simpson’s is a true gem and fully deserving of its Michelin star. From the moment we arrived, the service was impeccable, with Lucas ensuring every detail of our evening was flawless. His attentiveness and warm demeanor made us feel truly cared for. The dishes were stunning, both in presentation and flavor, showcasing the chef’s exceptional creativity and use of seasonal ingredients. Thomas, the wine sommelier, elevated the experience even further with his perfect pairings and insightful recommendations. His passion for wine shone through, making each selection feel personal and memorable. The ambiance was elegant yet inviting, creating the perfect setting for a special night out. Simpson’s is an absolute must-visit for anyone who loves fine dining and extraordinary service!

My first experience here was through delivery. I loved my meal! Finally, I found the time to walk over and to eat in person. My experience was even better. Delicious food, great staff, and a cozy space—you couldn’t ask for more. Definitely a must go to place for breakfast and brunch. My favorite is the green smoothie!! Delicious 🤤

This gem was found on a trip back to Birmingham after moving to Melbourne Australia nearly 20 years ago. Fantastic friendly service, great atmosphere with the music choice, took the risk of having a Latte coffee which certainly didn’t disappoint when you’re use to the fantastic coffee you have in Melbourne, this was the best coffee I have had on my trip. The Breakfast was just amazing and the perfect combination of ingredients tasted so good! This is a definite place to return to when needing a coffee and breakfast

Nice atmosphere big windows feels spacious. Easy to order, decent choice menu and good quality food. Not too long a wait for food to arrive, nice drinks choice also. Iced tea was lovely! Coffee quite weak but nice enough. Hash browns great but have to pay for quite a lot of sauce to waste it for the size of them…! Quite expensive for the portion sizes but it’s nice and friendly.

We had the most excellent experience here. Wonderful service and the staff were super knowledgeable about their ingredients. Allergies were taken very seriously and we'll-catered for. Food was great, all the dishes were prepared with great care and attention to detail. The ambience was lovely though the music was a bit too loud and bass-y. Luckily they were able to accommodate us at a quieter table.

Tattu was a 10/10 experience on all aspects of night. The food - a great choice of Asian flavour, desserts that were almost conceptual and visually stunning, drinks and cocktails that were greatly mixed! The ambiance - the decoration and interior of the restaurant is perfect for a date night or a night with friends. Beautiful flowers and tree inside. The service - attentive and kind staff, making sure you have a great time! Impressive cocktails list - a must try when you’re here.

We were hosted by Adam tonight who was honestly amazing. Super attentive to our needs even somehow knew we wanted a drink before we did 😉. We had the Emperor’s Choice tonight oh man the food was incredible honestly the best I have ever eaten. Romantic and delicious. Made my partners Birthday a night to remember

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Tattu, and I must say, the experience was nothing short of outstanding—largely thanks to the exceptional service provided by Gretel. From the moment we arrived, she made us feel truly welcomed, ensuring that every detail of our evening was perfect. Gretel’s knowledge of the menu was impressive; she guided us through the best dishes with great recommendations that suited our tastes perfectly. Her attentiveness was impeccable—always there when needed but never intrusive. She had a warm and professional demeanor that made our dining experience even more enjoyable. The food at Tattu is always exquisite, but great service elevates an experience, and Gretel did just that. She went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed and added a personal touch that made us feel valued as guests. If you’re dining at Tattu, I highly recommend asking for Gretel—she is a true asset to the team and will undoubtedly make your experience even more special. We will definitely be returning, thanks to her.

Good food and service at a very reasonable price. If you're visiting the Jewellery Quarter, it's a great place to call in, and support an independent business as well.
Rating: 5 / 5
Another great place for brunch in Jewellery Quarter. The environment looks clean, the food tastes great. There is a variery of options with very competitive prices. They also have a hidden garden behind for you to sit down and enjoy your meal. They close at 2.30pm, a lot of items become unavailable from 2pm. Though being small, Cafe Neo could become very busy in a peak period. Do plan your time before going.

One of the better Damascena locations, a friendly and clean environment and the food was hot and tasty. Service was poor as they were short staffed and one server for all the tables. The food delivery was slower than expected. Plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. Vegan options available.

Great food, always love the ambience and staff is ever so friendly and welcoming. Niamh served us and there were few of us, she stunned all of us as she remembered every single one of our orders, very impressive which proves Damascena staff takes pleasure in providing ace customer service. Lovely place for family and friends gathering.

I was so impressed by my experience at Dishoom in Birmingham today. I took my mum for a lunch (for her birthday) and we were given a really great table and surprised with a complimentary dessert - so kind and thoughtful. The atmosphere and decor is great. The food and cocktails were all superb and good value. The service was absolutely perfect: friendly and accomplished. Wouldn’t hesitate to return.

Pedro had made my mother birthday experience something she will never forget, his attentiveness within the menu, bringing a birthday dessert for her and his kindness really made the experience 10/10. A good hearty Italian experience, we had a reunion dinner for the four of us. Four starters, four mains, a side dish (courgettes) 👍🏻, some wine followed with a sharer dessert. The portions were a bit inconsistent, although fresh and flavoursome they were. Perhaps, we can enjoy our own specific personal preferences where particulars of the dishes in the way in which they can be served. The wines were likely the stars of the show, a little grumble that the dessert which arrived did not match the photo on the menu. All yummy just the same, however. We all had a lovely time with plenty of space to ourselves to move around comfortably during this midweek dining experience had in this modern Italian dining experience complete with pizza oven ‘al forno’. We came on our trip as a Birthday celebration back in fall 2024.
