My experience of Steve’s advice in choosing the planting scheme for our garden was simply excellent in every way. We had recently had our garden landscaped & I needed the expertise of Steve’s knowledge of what to plant & how best to group plants taking into account the soil & best site for the plants. The garden palette of ideas for planting that Steve provided & ideas of things he thought would work well in the different areas of the garden has worked perfectly. Steve & I then spent a day planting in May. We are now about to enjoy a second bloom of roses & relaxing in our lovely garden. Next year I will definitely call on Steve again when we are ready to plant out the other bed. Now we are enjoying seeing what we planted this season flourish.

Steve took great care to consult me about my preferences and produced a detailed palette of plants, with numerous alternative suggestions. I first met Steve in March 2021, at a time when my front garden had suffered neglect and was quite bare due to the felling of an enormous copper beech tree that had to be taken down because it was causing subsidence next door (see photo attached). The stump and roots had been left, and they caused additional issues to be dealt with. I didn’t have to wait long before Steve came over to discuss my requirements, which he completely took into consideration. I had a water fountain which had never worked, but this was renovated and retained as a central feature, with pathways leading off it towards two benches in the corners. Steve employed and supervised two people who did a great job of laying down topsoil, then all the hard landscaping, including the electricals. Everything was carried out reliably with attention to detail. The plants chosen and ordered for me are perennial and low maintenance; they provide colour and interest all year round and have totally transformed this small space, which fronts onto a private road and is opposite the dental surgery where my husband (deceased) had his practice for several years. I turned it into a memorial garden for him, and the benches are available for everyone at the dental surgery, whenever there is time for them to sit outside and enjoy this garden – like an outdoor waiting room for patients. The design and plants receive much admiration and praise, even from passersby. I couldn’t be happier!

Steve has been brilliant with our garden. His approach is flexible, considerate, pragmatic and always grounded in deep expertise, a love of the natural word and thoughtfulness of our needs. He’s transformed our garden in a way that responded to our ideas and our ability to maintain it.

Matt completed two jobs for us a front fence and landscaping of our rear garden. Matt was professional and helpful. He has completely transformed both our front and back garden. I cannot recommend Kevin and his team enough! I had a large job involving removing 5 conifers, removing a hedge and reshaping a overgrown oak tree. I compared a handful of local companies and chose to go with Kevin and his team. They were not the cheapest but you get what you pay for in my view and the whole experience was high quality and seamless. Kevin was highly impressive which is why I chose them - He was punctual to all meeting, gave quotes in the exact time frame promised, responded to my queries promptly, he was fair with pricing, gave good ideas and did not try to oversell or pressurise me - he was a joy to work with. His main tree surgeon Bryn was also highly knowledgeable and gave great ideas for reshaping my oak tree.

I have used Herts Tree and Garden Services for two jobs: removal of trees and replacing fencing. Both times, the work has been of a high standard at a fair price. The team are very professional and nothing was too much trouble.

Jamie and his team did a fantastic job at our home. They were hired to build a path & patio, a shed base, establish planting bed (including planting straight pleached trees) and erect a trellis at the front of the house - they did this all in just 3 days. Jamie was communicative and flexible, and where things needed to be adjusted in the plan (the plot was uneven, the access difficult and demanding neighbours) he was straightforward and easy to deal with. We are really happy with the end result. Would highly recommend Jamie and his team.

Jamie and his team were nothing short of amazing ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ From the very beginning we were offered samples to pick colours/styles and Jamie was always available to help with our hundreds of repetitive questions. Rear garden landscaping & driveway Jamie and his team completed a new front driveway with grey tegula block paving, demolished a raised patio area and replaced it with a new grey porcelain patio and garden path. They also replaced a second patio on a higher level, again with porcelain tiles bordered with railway sleepers. They replaced sandstone dry stone retaining walls throughout with railway sleepers and erected a 6-foot fence to one side of the garden and a new garden gate. Our garden is quite steeply sloping, and it certainly wasn’t an easy job. Jamie was very knowledgeable and helpful during the planning stage and came round to discuss our options a couple of times to make sure that we were happy with the plan. He suggested changes we would never have thought of which proved to be very effective. Once the job was finished, he came to check everything and make sure all the snagging was completed properly. He followed up a couple of weeks later with a phone call to make sure we were still happy with everything. Which of course we were. The team were very skilful, professional, and polite. We couldn’t fault any of their work and they answered all our questions as they went along when we were unsure of anything. Nothing was too much trouble, and every part of the job was completed to perfection. We would have no hesitation in recommending Jamie and his team. We will definitely use him again if we have any future projects and have recommended him to all our friends and family.
