The Best Golf Courses in Handsworth, West Midlands, United Kingdom (2025)

Played here last week. Considering I lived in this area for over 20 years I've never played here. Course in fantastic condition, lots of different holes, my only gripe is we teed off 35 minutes after the booking time, from other other people said this is a regular occurrence here. Didn't ruin the day though.

I dare anyone to find a better value course than Sandwell Park golf club. From the play out, to the carpet like fairways, the tree lined fairways and the friendly staff/members. Just a lovely lovely parkland course hidden away from suburbia.

I was blessed to have held my dad’s wake at Sandwell Park Golf Club on 20th March. All of the staff were Amazing from the initial enquiries right through to the actual day. Nadine from Hospitality catered for all of my needs during our consultation. The Stunning grounds, great room, excellent Indian Buffet and Amazing staff on the day, made my dad’s Celebration of Life even more Special. I cannot thank the team enough for looking after my family and friends on this tough day. Nadine your support, care and kindness was truly Amazing from when I first met you through to the day of the Wake. A lot of my family were impressed by the stunning grounds and service provided. We held my father-in-law’s wake at the golf club. The room was lovely and the buffet was beautiful. Very fresh, plentiful and well presented. Thank you to all the staff for taking care of us.

Wonderful course in excellent condition considering the recent weather. Yes, just been tined however the greens are true and fast, fairways give some bounce and the bunkers have uniform levels of sand. It's a tricky course, probably easier to play once I know where not to hit the ball 😀. Good pro shop, nice pro and friendly members to chat with after the round as well. Clubhouse is smart, clean and warming.

Excellent golf course with 3 sets of 9 ( 27 in total ). The fairways are a good width to allow full driving shots and the greens and bunkers in good condition. The Clubhouse and dining are a great feature of the club, set in a historic building with more modern extensions.

Great 27 hole golf course consisting of three loops of 9 holes. Very well maintained and in excellent condition. Very friendly golf shop that is well stocked and equally friendly clubhouse staff. Looked like the clubhouse would be available for events though not 100% sure. Tee booking unavailable but we turned up on a Friday and had no problem playing a round. £65 (on the Friday we played) but county cards accepted.

Had Sunday lunch here for mom's 80th The food was outstanding, and very good value for money. Will be a regular visitor

This is a wonderful setting with 3 loops of 9. Not too demanding off the yellows, generous fairways mix with tighter ones, great variety, some water, and as for the greens, fast & true, beautifully kept. Our second visit & will be back for more.

Enrolled in the academy at Edgbaston last year - easily the best decision I made as an aspiring new golfer. Fantastic group of people, beautiful clubhouse and course, and expert tuition. If you're still on the fence, my advice is to take the opportunity while you can and start your golf journey with Edgbaston right away and you’ll never look back ⛳️

My experience at the golf club have been fantastic, from celebrating my birthday there to attending events like the BUN networking event, a Spanish evening and a recent Sir Elton John tribute.The ambiance, is beautiful, the service impeccable and the food consistently delicious. Highly recommend it.

Outstanding course, both design and management have leant themselves to the production of one of (if not, the) best courses in the Midlands. Staff are friendly and are always on hand to help, coupled with the variety of services available at the course (fittings/ lessons) ensure that they cater to all needs. Clubhouse is well stocked and seating is abundant. The course itself offers a wide variety of challenges, while boasting a long dogleg par 5, and numerous challenging par 3's. The use of topography has also benefited the course layout. Visitation is highly recommended, and accompanied by a suggestion of ensuring you plan enough time to take in the views at the end.

Played Wishaw golf club today what a jewel the greens were immaculate, like putting on billiard tables, the fairways pristine aesthetically, of course, inspires, great Golf. I was so impressed clean tidy. I can’t surprise the condition of the course enough congratulations to all the Green staff I would definitely recommend playing this golf course to all, and everyone what are gem thank you, Richard and Jo for a memorable days golf 👍

We arranged a funeral reception here on Monday 2nd September, cannot thank every member of staff involved enough for the respect and kindness they showed us throughout the day. Quality of food was first class and every request was actioned without hesitation, Special thanks to Richard who from initial contact was there for us every step of the way, heartfelt thanks from all the family to everyone involved

The club and course are amazing. From the first day we arrived, Richard made us feel very welcome and nothing but smiles from the other staff. Jason always seems to be working on the club, and Erin, behind the bar, never seems to have a day off! I'm so pleased I moved there, and 7 of us came across. Here's to many years ahead playing golf!

A good course in great condition. Had a society day there and everyone enjoyed the challenge of this golf course. Staff were excellent, only downside was the price £46 for 18 holes on the weekend.

I joined Fulford Heath G.C. In 1990, midway through a County career spanning six decades. The course has always challenged me in a fair way.. On several holes you have to hit the fairway or even a single figure handicap will drop a shot. Some holes have a risk and reward element to them. The greens are fairly flat except for the 10th and 18th but you still have to borrow correctly if faced with a long general slope. After 35 years it is still the most interesting of challenges ! Myself and my wife played at Fulford Heath on Friday 7th July and we were very kindly given a courtesy round, by Paul Aitkens the Club Manager, due to our course hosting the Midland Youth Championships all week as it has done for the last 37 years!! The welcome we received was from everyone at Fulford Heath was warm and friendly and the course itself was in excellent all round condition and a very good test of golf. The greens were immaculate, very quick and true and a real pleasure to putt on. We had lunch before we played which was lovely and the pint on the patio after the round was very welcome indeed. The members we came across were extremely friendly and genuinely pleased to have us there which was nice. We even had a laugh and a joke with the fourball who had played behind us. Such nice people!! Overall we had a fabulous day on a superb course and receieved such a lovely welcome from everybody at Fulford Heath 🙂!! If you haven't played it before then it's a must visit and we are sure you will enjoy it just as much as we did!! We will certainly return in the very near future, hopefully in a Mixed Open at some point. Thanks again Paul and everyone else associated with Fulford Heath you are a real credit to your golf club. Played Fulford Heath for the first time yesterday. The course was in amazing condition and the best course I have played. Everyone enjoyed the round and the greens were incredible, much credit to the green keepers 👍

Walmley is an absolutely top class Golf course. The welcome from the club professional was very friendly and informative. The course is a good test of golf and the condition, as always, was fantastic! In my opinion, it's one of the best maintained golf courses in the West Midlands. The greens staff were working on the bunkers and cutting the rough. The attention to detail on the course is a credit to them. Ots just a shame my game wasn't as high class as the surroundings. If you're looking for a game, or to join a club, I'd definitely recommend Walmley.

Popped in to cash in a competition voucher to buy golf shoes. Steve the Pro was extremely welcoming and helpful in choice of shoe. When I played in the invitation competition the organisation was first class. The presentation of the course was very good and meal afterwards superb.

Visited as a party of 12. Excellent golf course in superb condition. Steve Carter the professional made the booking process easy and was very welcoming on the day. The food and catering staff were top notch. We would all come back to Walmley without hesitation.

Great parkland course, greens quite fast, nicely manicured. Clubhouse has had plenty of money spent on it, and it shows. Great visitor changing and shower facilities, bar area very comfortable with a balcony overlooking the 18th and the rest of the course. Great signature hole over water at the 5th. Staff accommodating and welcoming.

Excellent course, far more interesting to play vs the Belfry close by.

Having just played this course with my Golf society I can honestly say that this place is fantastic. The members are great the pro is incredibly obliging and the staff are happy to help. The course is superb and the conditions of the greens and tees are fabulous. Will definately be going back again.

Carvery lunch with family and friends. Pascal, the French chef, provided a real British roast ... with gravy ! Unheard of by the French 😁. Delicious food, beautiful dining room and lovely views.

Went to the function room that was hired for a wake. The buffet was delicious and warm. The staff were friendly and helpful.

Fantastic club and beautiful course, the team do an excellent job there. Highly recommend a game here anytime of year.

Well, what can I say... I think the picture sums it up just nicely. Got invited to an event here last night. Didn't know what to expect as I'm not really a golfer, but I was totally blown away. Literally had one of the best night in a long time. The venue and the course are absolutely beautiful and so well maintained. The members were so welcoming and friendly. I think I spoke to Literally every person! The food was perfect. Highly recommend this place, if you're local and not already a member I urge you to get in touch and join. What an amazing night. Thanks for the invite and will definitely be back. Oh, the captains a legend by the way 👏 🙌 😎
