The Best Golf Courses in Charlesworth, Derbyshire, United Kingdom (2025)

As you would expect from a course located in Derbyshire Peak district it's not flat far from it but the track is approaching outstanding both from a golf point of view and a scenic. We were fortunate that the weather was plesant but if the rain came in then it would be a VERY difficult course. We were made extremely welcome and the club house was good. I have to mention the flapjack's that were home made they were just unbelievable a MUST try. If you do have mobility issues then I would certainly recommend a buggy it is difficult I know as I have a iffy knee. Negatives not about the course but the area attracts a lot of visitors so on narrow roads cars are an issue BUT not as much as cyclists who make traveling time a lot longer so that is something to take into consideration when planning your journey.

Beautiful course and perfect weather, challenging test for all levels of golfers. The course is hilly and greens trcky but the views you get are stunning,, we visited as a society and everyone enjoyed it 👌👌

What an absolute gem of a golf course! But my word it’s hilly so get a buggy!! £40 for manicured greens and well presented fairways, different challenges and views over Hope Valley. Just brilliant, will be back (with a buggy again)

Loved our visit to Sickleholme. Everyone was very friendly and welcoming. The course was in great condition, greens quick and pure. Can't wait to come back!

I've been a member here for a number of years now. I may be a little bit biased, but I think that it is a wonderful course. I would recommend this course to anyone visiting the High Peak ,and fancying a knock.

Our 8 man society played on 22/06. Really warm welcome by the lady in the golf shop, just the perfect introduction to the golf club. The course itself was challenging, but well kept and the greens ran fast and true. Bar staff equally professional for the post round inquest! We had a lovely day and would definitely return.

Held my Dad's wake at the golf club on Monday 3rd February, couldn't fault it had the hot sandwiches and chips, they were fantastic great quality meat on the sandwiches and plenty of it, cakes were delicious. Upstairs room was great. Staff were very welcoming and helpful, would definitely recommend.

Playing of mats has helped preserve good fairways. Although because it’s not flat course this can also be tricky with borrowed mats. Greens were decent but not overly quick and a bit long - it is December after all so can be forgiven. Good layout and picturesque par 3s. Would love to play in its peak during the summer

One of the best courses in England and despite it's relatively short length it still offers a good test of golf. The course has always been in impeccable shape whenever we've played there.The staff in the clubhouse are welcoming with a nice selection of food and ales. The views both from the clubhouse and on the course are superb. Overall a brilliant day of golf can be had at Cavendish, however the weather can be brutal at times, so don't forget your waterproofs!

Absolute class. My friend and I played on a glorious Sunday afternoon in October, and it was perfect. I knew about the reputation of this course as ‘the inspiration for Augusta’ and it does deliver. Dr Alastair McKenzie knew what he was doing. Amazing views from all corners of the course and despite the overall elevation, because the holes are carefully crafted into the tables of the terrain, it is a surprisingly good walk. The staff (shoutout to assistant pro, Liam) are super helpful and make you feel very welcome. Great hospitality in the clubhouse and you can enjoy watching players come in with a cold pint on the terrace. Cannot recommend highly enough and can’t wait to return next year. Proper golf course!

Play here a few times a year and always found it to be in good condition. Quite a flat course, but lots of awkwardly placed trees which mean you can’t go too offline.

Really good challenge for all level of players greens in A1 condition one thing needs improvement is the bunkers which is now being sorted

Lovely golf club. Pro shop is decent and the member of staff we spoke to was super friendly and very helpful. Practise facilities to use before you tee off and considering the amount of rain it put down this week, the course was in very good condition and drains well. After some good weather, I can imagine this course being superb. Will certainly return in the future!

Great venue for a wedding. Frazer was amazing from start to finish and the food was outstanding. Highly recommended!

This is a lovely course, challenging that is for sure but I is well maintained, all the staff are polite and friendly. The pricing of the course is fair for how well it is maintained. If you are looking for a challenge then I would certainly advise visiting Davenport Golf Club. I can say that I will be returning again in the future. I have returned and it's just as enjoyable and a well kept course the second and third tines of visiting.

Brilliant course, but we played just after the greens were spiked and sanded, so they ran a little slow.

Played after a lot of rain, so quite soft in places, and standing water/wet sand on greens. Course was enjoyable, though quite a few 'blind' holes which I am not keen on. Used buggies which were in good clean condition. Shop was only open on request which seemed odd, though the weather forecast probably meant very few golfers would be calling! Didn't eat/drink there. If course was drier, and top condition, probably a 5 star!

Such a lovely place and great people working there. We did the golf simulation in the studio and had so much fun! The gent behind the till was such a legend too!

A very warm welcome from the pro shop, really friendly. Helpful information given. Unfortunately 2 holes are currently closed due to major roadworks, beyond the clubs control. The course was in fairly good condition considering we had several quite heavy snow showers through the afternoon. Good value for a round of golf on an interesting but not long course. Well worth a visit.

Great course, always in good condition. The green fees are so reasonable!! The course provides a great variety for all golfers even having a links feel to 4 of the holes. I would definitely recommend a visit!!

This is one of my favourite golf course in Cheshire, well maintained, some really tricky/challenging holes. Although the weather conditions have been poor recently yet the course was in brilliant condition. Also staff are extremely friendly and welcoming.

Loved the course. As you can see, it was sunny on the first tee and there is snow in the hills in the background, in April!! It snowed on me coming in on the 18th. Lovely designed course and a good challenge for any golfer. Nice and spongey fairways. Greens could be better, but they will improve with the sunshine. I get the impression it is a wet course in the winter. Good value though and will definitely go back there. I managed to get round in 3 hrs too and the course was busy.

Course in very good condition, greens really superb, bunkers are a bit overfilled with heavy sand (or maybe I was just bad out of bunkers today). The food though was the best I've ever eaten in a golf club; all 'home made', really delicious and very nicely presented too. Definitely worth going to eat there irrespective of the golf!

We had our exchange day today where members of Sale swap with Romiley members and play each other's courses. What a pleasure it has been! You could not get greater contrast between 2 parkland courses. Ours is flat and testing Romiley is undulating and testing. ROMILEY is in excellent condition and very enjoyable to play. It is a lovely driving course with lots of banked fairways and dog legs. From pro shop to half way house plus the clubhouse staff we received a very friendly reception. Myself and playing partners thoroughly enjoyed this course and would highly recommend it

Visited the newly opened restaurant and was surprised with what a transformation from what it was before. It was much more atmospheric than before with a more welcoming vibe. Service was fast and attentive and food was excellent especially the wood fired pizza. All in all and excellent evening and will definitely be going back 10 out of 10

Fantastic. Came for the opening of the new farmhouse kitchen and it was fabulous. The food was delicious, prompt and hot. The staff were friendly, welcoming and professional. This is going to be one hard spot to beat. Thanks for everything, Olli

Our first time in the new restaurant and I have to say it didn’t disappoint. What a change, the design is a huge improvement from before, they’ve created a welcoming and contemporary restaurant which is matched with a varied and interesting menu. And so lovely to look out over the stunning golf course. The food was good, so was the service. Looking forward to our next visit, would definitely recommend!

Great tight 9 holer worth the trip will play again

I have just joined this club and I was nervous as I am quite a new player but everyone has been friendly and welcoming, I feel informed on the course and events that are happening. The course is great and I am looking forward to playing more and in the Summer getting my handicap. I have eaten here in the past and it has been delicious, staff are friendly too.

A lovely little nine hole course with each hole providing its own challenges. Some lovely views as well. Reasonable cost to play and you can do nine or eighteen holes. It is quite hilly but that's part of the charm,just come prepared.

My favourite place in the area!! This is a quality course with such a variety of excellent holes. The views you have of the Peak District in the distance are amazing. The greens were in great condition as were the tees and fairways. This will be a place I always come back too!!

Excellent course to play and well kept - lightening fast greens. All staff very welcoming and provide an excellent menu along side traditional clubhouse features. Looking forward to my return one day!

The best greens I’ve played on in sometime Course is kept to a very high standard with lots of great touches Super friendly pro with well stocked shop Super layout and challenging course, friendly staff and members, would highly recommend and definitely return.
