I am a regular Hilliers customer, as was my Mother before me. It is local and one can usually rely on the quality of their plants & trees. In fact, my OH has just picked a bucket of delicious damsons from a young tree we bought from Hilliers two years ago. And I am growing a healthy crop of round cabbages, sprouts and black kale - from the last of the vegetable plugs on sale 3 or 4 months ago. Ace shop. My favourite.
Hiller plants are expensive but worth it. Always in perfect condition. But its losing a star because the front entrance has bags of compost etc stacked across it and the main entrance is tucked away, unsigned, at the side of the building. While bewildered potential customers wander vaguely at the front, shrugging their shoulders and heading for BnQ instead. Do something Hillier, it's costing you.
First visit in many years and I was pleasantly surprised. Good selection of plants and many bargains. Staff polite and helpful. Well worth a visit if you are in the area.
Super selection of healthy plants at fair prices. Lots of bargains to be had for the green-fingered in the reduced to clear section. Staff helpful and lovely selection of gardening paraphernalia and gifts, food, wine etc. House plant selection has increased in recent years and are much quality than the supermarket offering.
