If you want a honest garage with lads who bend over backwards to help you then talk to the engineers at Laycock garage I live 45 miles away but will use them again

My first time at Laycock’s, as my usual garage couldn’t cover a warranty claim. I found them to be honest, exceedingly helpful and efficient! An outstanding outfit. Very fairly priced labour cost per hour, too - 10/10 in every area. I’ve always been quite particular and thoughtful about my choice of mechanic (I despise dishonesty, incompetence or rip off merchants). My usual garage recommended Tom, so I knew they’d only recommend someone they knew to be very good, which proved true - Tom Laycock’s ticks all the boxes you’d want ticking for a mechanic garage. I worked in a college motor vehicle department (as learning support) for a couple of years, where I picked up a thing or two and brushed shoulders with brilliant auto-mechanical and auto-electrical tutors (I’m a teacher, though, and by no means a seasoned mechanic!). Tom is obviously way, way up there - not just in experience, skills and know-how, but in integrity and thoroughness. Integrity is something important that was always pushed with the learners. I briefly spoke to Tom’s apprentice whilst I waited, who has just passed his Level 3 under Tom’s tutelage, so is now fully qualified. With him, I was also impressed - a mature and professional young man. The type who was always a pleasure to teach back in my college days. Tom whizzed my car through diagnostics with a live data test to evidence the fault I found for warranty approval and Vicki in the office arranged to change my Santa Fe O2 sensor - a hard part to get, it took her some ringing around. This was under warranty, even though these warranty claims can be a faff and pain to put together (30-45mins) and aren’t very lucrative. There was no trying to fleece the customer with ‘extra’ costs as some mechanics can, or doing additional work without authorisation. My hat off to them all for the hard work in the office and Tom’s willingness to do this! Transparent, with a clear focus on customer experience and satisfaction. It would have been easy to pass off doing this work under warranty but Tom and Vicki were willing to help so I could save myself the part costs for doing it myself. My gratitude!

These guys diagnosed a fault that two other garages couldn't and they fixed it, quickly and without any fuss. Price was very reasonable too. I'll definitely be going back next time I need anything doing to my car. 100% recommended.
